- Chapter 27 - The Omega Sister (27)
The next day, Feng Zimo stood impatiently at the Feng Family’s gate, his phone still connected.
“Chenchen, please stop crying,” he said, trying to sound patient.
Bai Chenchen had been bothering him all morning about her family’s troubles. She had originally planned to apologize to her mother, but after her credit card was suspended, her lifestyle had plummeted.
Knowing her mother’s stubborn yet soft-hearted nature, Zimo believed that if he showed genuine sincerity, he could surely win her forgiveness.
However, Bai Chenchen’s family was far from easy to deal with. “Please, Brother Mo,” she pleaded, “Mom is getting old. How can she possibly survive in prison?”
“But…” Zimo hesitated. He had heard about Bai Chenchen’s family’s situation, and this was beyond his capabilities unless he begged his mother. The crimes they had committed were far from minor.
Hearing his tone, Bai Chenchen seethed with anger. What a useless fool! If Chen Jie didn’t have compromising information on her, she wouldn’t care if this family lived or died.
As an Omega, her life at home wasn’t easy. The couple had always wanted an Alpha child.
Fortunately, she could still earn money herself, or she might have lost all status in the household.
As her mother, Chen Jie knew all her dark secrets, including the fact that the child in her womb wasn’t Feng Zimo’s. Chen Jie was fully aware of this.
“Please,” Chenchen begged.
Feng Zimo sighed, glancing at the imposing courtyard gate. It seems only Mother can help now. “I’ll ask Mother,” he said.
He hung up, unable to bear hearing Bai Chenchen’s crying any longer.
In the past, her tears would have filled him with heartache. Now… only irritation remained.
He took a deep breath and pressed the doorbell.
After a moment, a small figure emerged from the foyer. She pressed the gate release, and the massive iron gates slowly swung open.
Feng Zimo frowned at the unfamiliar child. Who is this?
“Who are you? What are you doing in my house?” A sudden dislike welled up in Feng Zimo’s heart, though he couldn’t explain why. He instinctively disliked this child.
Tangtang, with her sunny disposition, showed no fear toward the unfamiliar man. If he claimed this was his home, then he must be a relative of her mother’s.
“My name is Feng Liantang,” the girl announced. Tangtang hesitated, wondering whether to let the man inside.
Feng Zimo mulled over the name. Feng? At my mother’s house? Could he be a distant relative of the Feng Family?
But that shouldn’t be possible. Feng Canjiu was supposed to be the last remaining member of the Feng Family.
Wasn’t the reason this once-mighty clan was now teetering on the brink of collapse precisely because the current generation had no heirs?
“Come in,” a cold voice interrupted his thoughts.
Hearing Feng Canjiu’s voice, Feng Zimo obediently stepped through the gate.
Tangtang pushed the gate wider, then skipped back to the living room, where she leaped into the arms of the person sitting on the sofa.
“Mother, who is he?” the child asked innocently.
Feng Canjiu smoothed her shirt and patted Tangtang’s head. “Strictly speaking, he’s your older brother.”
“Brother?” Tangtang blinked, glancing at Feng Zimo. This brother looked nothing like their mother. “Is Brother adopted?”
“Yes,” Feng Canjiu replied, accustomed to the child’s sharp mind. She might look innocent, but she was quite clever.
“Oh~” Tangtang smiled sweetly, wrapping her arms tightly around Feng Canjiu’s waist. “That’s such a shame. Brother is so big now, he probably can’t hug Mother like this anymore. I’ll keep Mother company from now on.”
What a masterpiece of manipulation, Feng Zimo thought, his lips twitching. Where did this little vixen even come from?
The worst part was seeing Feng Canjiu actually smile. What kind of international joke is this?
“What are you doing back here?” Feng Canjiu’s tone toward Feng Zimo was far from warm.
In fact, Feng Canjiu’s current attitude was somewhat cold. She was deeply disappointed in this child, and she suspected that his return today had nothing to do with realizing his mistakes.
Based on her understanding of him, he had likely come back because he couldn’t bear having his credit card suspended.
“Mother, I was wrong.”
“Oh?” Feng Canjiu picked up Tangtang and cradled him in her arms. “Explain yourself.”
Feng Zimo swallowed nervously, mentally steeling himself. Speak clearly, you can do this. “I shouldn’t have defied you.”
“Wrong.”
“I shouldn’t have neglected my work.”
“Wrong.”
“I shouldn’t have blindly accused Yushu without knowing the facts.”
“Wait.” Feng Canjiu interrupted him.
She glared coldly at him, disliking the sound of Yushu’s name coming from her adopted son’s mouth.
“What’s wrong?” Did I say something wrong? Feng Zimo felt a surge of anxiety. He could never quite decipher his mother’s moods.
Feng Canjiu stood up, looking down at him imperiously. “Don’t call her that.”
“Her?” Feng Zimo choked. “Mother, are you talking about…”
“A good son calls his mother ‘Mommy.'”
Feng Zimo’s pupils dilated as he stared in disbelief at the source of the voice. He saw Jiang Yushu.
He recognized the shirt—it was his mother’s.
An Alpha’s clothes were significantly larger on an Omega. The hem barely covered her thighs, and her fair collarbones were still… Jiang Yushu and his mother?
This couldn’t be real. Feng Zimo struggled to believe what he was seeing.
Jiang Yushu quickened her pace, reaching Feng Canjiu and wrapping her arms around her neck. “Sister, you woke up so early.”
Her tone was both coquettish and slightly resentful—as if to say, You can tease me all you want, but you didn’t even give me a good morning kiss?
Feng Canjiu effortlessly lifted her into her arms and placed her beside Tangtang. “I didn’t want to wake you when I saw you were still sleeping.”
Jiang Yushu huffed twice and hugged Tangtang. “Don’t pay attention to your mother. She’s being mean.”
“Mommy!” Tangtang threw herself into the Omega’s soft embrace. Mommy smells so good! She loved Jiang Yushu’s scent and instinctively nuzzled against her.
Feng Canjiu’s brow furrowed, and she yanked Feng Liantang away. “Stop rubbing against her like that.”
“Where do you think you’re rubbing? This is my wife, and you’re not old enough to take advantage of her.”
“Mother’s so grumpy,” Tangtang pouted, patting the back of Feng Canjiu’s hand to signal her to put him down.
Freed, the child obediently sat on the single sofa and picked up a book on business knowledge to read.
“Mother, what is this…?” Feng Zimo still wanted answers, even after seeing the marks on Jiang Yushu’s collarbone and smelling the Alpha scent already clinging to the Omega’s skin.
He refused to believe that Jiang Yushu, the Omega who had once been so close to him, had become his mother’s.
Jiang Yushu would never have let him touch her before, not even a finger. But the marks on her skin now told him that something had happened between her and his mother last night.
“Yushu is right. We should get married soon,” Feng Canjiu said, glancing at Jiang Yushu before turning to Tangtang.
Adopting this young child would be complicated. The best solution was marriage, establishing a stable marital relationship that would allow the authorities to expedite the necessary paperwork.
Otherwise, Tangtang’s household registration would remain tied to that family.
With the family now imprisoned, this was hardly a good prospect for Tangtang’s future.
A bitter smile tugged at the corner of Feng Zimo’s lips as he stared blankly at Jiang Yushu.
She was even more beautiful than before.
Jiang Yushu leaned languidly against the sofa, looking slightly listless as she yawned lazily.
The hem of her dress shifted upward by a fraction with the movement, revealing a hint of the Omega’s fair, slender legs, now flushed with a delicate pink.
She was like an ethereal being descended from the heavens, her deer-like eyes no longer innocent.
The depths of her gaze shimmered with a satiated allure, a single glance capable of ensnaring a man’s soul.
This Omega could never belong to him again. A wave of intense resentment surged through him. How could things have turned out this way?
Thinking of his troublesome daughter, Bai Chenchen, he wondered if he had been wrong from the start.
“Your access card remains suspended,” Feng Canjiu stated flatly, crushing Feng Zimo’s hopes. This was no trivial matter. Her time was running out, and she needed an heir capable of leading the Feng Family.
Aside from the Bai Chenchen incident, this child hadn’t committed any major transgressions yet.
A flicker of darkness flashed in Jiang Yushu’s eyes. Does Sister mean to give this wretch another chance? Even though Feng Canjiu hadn’t explicitly stated it, Jiang Yushu could sense her intention in her tone.
“Go to the study. There are two new projects on the desk.”
Just as I thought…Â Jiang Yushu shook her head. Her sister was still too soft-hearted. She probably didn’t realize that this was the wolf she had raised at her side.
Feng Zimo let out a breath of relief, but his fists clenched involuntarily. Not again… that condescending tone again.
Ever since Feng Canjiu had adopted him, she had treated him this way. What am I to her? To Feng Canjiu, he was probably just a pet kept at her side, to be teased at will.
“Yes,” Feng Zimo replied, suppressing his inner turmoil as he bowed his head and climbed the stairs.
As soon as the study door closed, Feng Zimo slammed his fist against the wall. “Damn it!”
Resentment and humiliation swelled endlessly in his heart.
Feng Zimo glanced sideways at the two neatly arranged bid documents on the desk and sighed. He walked over and picked them up. There’s no choice. For now, I have to rely on these handouts to survive.
“Yushu,” he murmured the name absently.
Humans are like that. In the past, Feng Zimo had believed that Jiang Yushu loved him unconditionally. Even after the Bai Chenchen incident, he was convinced she would never truly leave him.
But now that he had completely lost her, memories of their past flooded his mind unbidden.
The bid documents crumpled in his hand. He slammed his palm against the desk with excessive force, and with a crack, the keyboard tray beneath the desk sprang open, revealing a thin sheet of paper.
Feng Zimo curled his lip and picked up the paper. But when he saw the words on it, he was utterly speechless.
It was… his mother’s medical report. Was her time running out?
A strange feeling surged through him. If he could successfully seize everything from the Feng Family… everything that belonged to his mother…
Everything that belonged to his mother…Â As he thought of the languid, impassive Omega, Feng Zimo’s throat bobbed.
“Everything about Mother, including her Omega.”
