- Chapter 7 - The Omega Sister (7)
Feng Canjiu’s days these past two days had gone beyond mere busyness; she had even moved into her company office.
None of the models selected were suitable. The car’s concept was fresh and comfortable, but the models were either too flamboyant or completely expressionless.
“No good.” She tossed another sample photo aside. What kind of garbage are these shots?
He Liang reluctantly stepped forward, gathering the scattered photos and dumping them into the trash. With the boss in such a foul mood, he just wanted to escape the office as quickly as possible.
“Are there no more?” Feng Canjiu rubbed her throbbing temples. She hadn’t had a proper rest in ages, all because of these issues.
At her voice, He Liang’s shoulders tensed. He turned stiffly to face her. “Boss… no more. But don’t worry, we have a new model starting today. They should be able to capture the public’s desired feel.”
“Hmph.” Feng Canjiu snorted softly, casting him a cold glance. “You said the same thing three days ago.”
He Liang swallowed hard. Why does the boss’s gaze feel like a lion about to pounce?
“I… Boss, if this doesn’t work, I’ll personally go to the set and make sure we get you a sample you’re satisfied with.”
Feng Canjiu waved her hand dismissively, cutting off the useless chatter. “Bring me the newcomers’ files.”
She truly despised wasting time. If the entire Publicity Department couldn’t find a single photo that met her standards, it seemed they were getting too comfortable.
He Liang hurriedly pulled the newcomers’ files from his desk and placed them respectfully on Feng Canjiu’s desk.
Feng Canjiu took a deep breath, propped her forehead with one hand, and rapidly flipped through the files with the other.
As she flipped through the pages, her brow furrowed deeper and deeper. All the candidates had striking, bold features that didn’t suit the car’s sleek, understated elegance.
Her hand froze mid-flip, her gaze drawn to something in the file. “It’s her.”
Jiang Yushu had actually applied to be a model at her company?
“Boss?” He Liang noticed her expression softening, assuming she’d finally found a suitable candidate. He glanced down at the file. “Miss Jiang?”
Was this the Boss’s intention all along? In terms of image, Miss Jiang was undoubtedly perfect for the role. If only the Boss had told me to invite her earlier, I wouldn’t have gotten such a scolding.
Feng Canjiu caught He Liang’s resentful glance out of the corner of her eye. “I only found out just now myself.”
Feng Canjiu hadn’t expected Jiang Yushu to come, let alone without informing her beforehand. After all, she owed Jiang Yushu’s family so much; all she had to do was ask.
“You mentioned going to the film set earlier, right?”
He Liang checked the time. “Yes, at 2 PM. The government also assigned a model. We’ll be shooting both solo and duo versions of the sample footage this time.”
“Oh? Who is it?” How had she missed this? Sometimes Feng Canjiu wondered if she was working herself to exhaustion.
He Liang pursed his lips. “It’s not your fault, Boss. The government just sent the email. They asked Film Empress Fan for a favor, saying her high profile would attract more attention.”
“Film Empress Fan?” Feng Canjiu, who never followed entertainment news, had never heard the title before.
“Boss, she’s a superstar!” He Liang’s lips twitched slightly. You sound like some clueless old fogey who’s never seen the world.
Feng Canjiu’s gaze sharpened like a blade, cutting into He Liang.
A thin layer of cold sweat broke out on He Liang’s back. This was the same look the boss gave him when she was about to dock his pay. “Fan Xunxi, the International Film Empress. She ranks second among the Alphas Omegas most want to marry nationwide.”
This so-called ranking was just something some busybodies had cooked up. He wouldn’t dare tell the Boss, “You’re the Alpha every Omega in the country wants to marry—no exceptions.”
“Alphas, huh?” Feng Canjiu lowered her gaze for a moment before standing up. “I’ll go with you this afternoon.”
“Okay… wait, what?” He Liang was taken aback. Why would the Boss bother with such a trivial matter personally? The moment she heard Fan Xunxi was going, could it be…? No way, no way.
“What are you thinking about now?” Feng Canjiu asked, her head throbbing at He Liang’s gossipy expression. This guy should be a screenwriter, not wasting his talent by working for her.
He Liang chuckled sheepishly. “Boss, I’ll make the arrangements right away. The film set is about an hour’s drive. You can rest in the car.”
“Mm.” Mentioning it only made Feng Canjiu’s head throb harder. She waved He Liang out, wanting some peace and quiet.
He Liang closed the door with a grin, letting out a heavy sigh the moment it clicked shut. What was the Boss up to? Why had her thoughts become so hard to read lately?
And… sometimes she’d scroll through her phone, reading texts, and occasionally even smile. How strange.
At the ancient town film set on the outskirts of the city, Fan Xunxi arrived two hours early. Dressed casually, she looked like a runway model despite her simple attire.
Her face was striking, unlike the exaggerated height and angular features often associated with female Alphas. Her features were sharp yet softened by a hint of tenderness in her eyes.
“Sister Xi, slow down!” Fan Xunxi’s assistant pleaded playfully.
She certainly didn’t have Fan Xunxi’s long legs.
Fan Xunxi turned back. “Chaochao, we need to hurry. This is a government project. Arriving early will leave a good impression.”
Her tone was gentle, more like she was speaking to a lover than an assistant.
Chaochao, a cute-looking Omega, blushed at her words. That tease! Always trying to sweet-talk me.
“Excellent! One more shot here!”
The photographer’s voice carried across the set, the camera shutter clicking rapidly.
Fan Xunxi’s curiosity piqued. Who is this?
She’d heard that many of the initial sample shots had been scrapped. The models currently on set were all newcomers. How could a rookie handle continuous shooting like this?
Her gaze swept across the scene, landing on an Omega dressed in a pristine white dress. The smooth curve of her back, illuminated by the studio lights, flowed seamlessly into the skirt’s hem.
The Omega held a rose in her mouth, the gesture devoid of any vulgarity. A faint, invisible tear seemed to cling to the corner of her eye, conveying a fragile, ethereal beauty.
Fan Xunxi’s eyes lit up as she moved toward the Omega’s shooting position.
“Film Empress Fan,” a staff member called out.
Fan Xunxi pressed a finger to her lips. “I’m just here to observe.”
Her gaze remained fixed on the Omega being photographed in the center of the set. Such a unique Omega, she thought. I’ve never seen prey like this before.
A faint smile curved her lips as her gaze drifted to the Omega’s barely visible cleavage. The dress seemed simple at first glance, but the exaggerated back design was striking.
What’s barely visible is always the most lethal, just like Jiang Yushu at this very moment.
Has this photographer gone mad? she mentally grumbled. I’ve been posing for an hour and a half already! Even Sun Wukong would get tired, damn it!
Host, didn’t you insist on being the model yourself? the System remarked with a hint of schadenfreude. Even you have your limits.
Shut up already!
This ordeal finally ended after two hours of shooting. Jiang Yushu stood up, stretching her neck. That damn photographer always insisted on having her pose sideways, capturing her bare back.
Still, it could have been worse. At least there weren’t any other outrageous demands.
The photographer, a blond, blue-eyed foreigner, exclaimed, “My god, darling, you’re breathtaking! I’ve never photographed such a stunning Eastern Omega before.”
“You flatter me,” Jiang Yushu replied, already wary of this excitable foreigner. His enthusiasm made her fear he might drag her into another two-hour shoot out of sheer excitement. She really couldn’t take it.
His fervent expression made Jiang Yushu unconsciously step back. “Professor Rogers, I’ll go rest for a bit.”
Without waiting for Rogers’ reply, she slipped away, terrified he might try to keep her.
Entering the dressing room, Jiang Yushu collapsed onto the sofa. “So tired,” she groaned. Why was chasing an Alpha so exhausting? And what if she didn’t even show up?
Sitting up straight, Jiang Yushu rested her chin in her hand, tapping her cheek thoughtfully. “If she knew, she’d definitely come.”
These sample shots were crucial, and she still felt a pang of guilt toward her.
But three days had passed since her interview, and the other party hadn’t made a move. This meant they had no idea she was here.
“Sigh, Apex Alphas are so hard to catch,” she murmured, stretching languidly and sinking bonelessly into the sofa.
Host, maybe we should just give up. That Major Antagonist is clearly asexual…
Shh, be quiet. I’m going to nap for a bit. She grabbed a book at random and shielded her eyes from the fluorescent light, giving them a much-needed rest.
Even a steel-bodied warrior would feel exhausted after two hours of shooting, let alone an Omega like her.
In her sleep, someone approached and gently draped a thin blanket over Jiang Yushu. The movements were feather-light.
But after countless lifetimes of reincarnation across worlds, Jiang Yushu was far from careless. Her eyes snapped open, and she sat up abruptly.
“You’re awake. I’m sorry if I disturbed you.”
Tsk, Jiang Yushu sighed inwardly. Another divine Alpha? But this height, these fingers… No, the natural advantages just aren’t there.
The System was stunned by her thoughts. Host, please stop these chaotic thoughts! And… this person is no good.
A series of beeps sounded in her mind as data windows popped up.
The summary read:Â Fan Xunxi, 28, female Alpha, International Film Empress…Â After a long list of awards, several bold red words stood out:Â Countless lovers, top-tier player, never exposed in the original text.
Oh, so my assistant, the Omega actresses I’ve worked with, the flight attendants on variety show shoots… Not bad.
Too bad, I’m only interested in Feng Canjiu.
“Film Empress Fan,” Jiang Yushu said, turning to leave.
Fan Xunxi grabbed her wrist. “Don’t go yet. You’re tired, right? Sleep a little longer. I won’t disturb you.”
A wave of disgust rose in Jiang Yushu’s heart. She subtly withdrew her wrist from Fan Xunxi’s grasp. “No, Film Empress Fan.”
She shifted sideways, creating some distance. These movements ignited Fan Xunxi’s competitive spirit. There wasn’t an Omega she couldn’t seduce.
This Omega avoids me like poison. How intriguing.
“You don’t need to avoid me. We’ll be taking photos together later, so why not practice a bit now?” The Alpha’s hand glided across Jiang Yushu’s smooth back.
The implication was so blatant it made Jiang Yushu feel nauseous. Damn it, is she planning to force herself on me? Should I just cut her throat and be done with it?
Host, stay calm!
Shut up!
Suddenly, footsteps echoed from the corridor outside the door. The corner of Jiang Yushu’s lips curled slightly, and her expression instantly transformed.
“Film Empress Fan, please don’t… I’m not… that kind of Omega.”
