The Wind Heard Her Confession - Chapter 12: An Obviously Secret Crush part 2
Chi Ye’s face – sculpted with meticulous precision – delivered a devastating beauty strike. He squeezed between her and Yan Xi’s seats, one arm draping over the back of her chair while the other reached for her mouse. In one swift motion, he pulled her into his embrace.
From her close position, Lin Yuran could clearly see the shadows cast by his raven-feather-like eyelashes. Each lash trembled minutely as the bright light cascaded down, the individual roots of his lashes glinting with fragmented light.
Lin Yuran’s breath caught. She hastily lowered her head and shifted her body to the left, creating space for him to maneuver.
Chi Ye tapped rapidly on her keyboard. On the screen, Huo Qubing unleashed a hidden ultimate move, annihilating three enemy members in one devastating strike.
The move’s visual effects were dazzlingly spectacular. Inspiration struck Lin Yuran. She hurried to take a screenshot, accidentally brushing Chi Ye’s fingers. A sudden electric jolt coursed through her body, and she jerked her hand back.
Chi Ye’s deep voice rumbled near her ear, “I have high-quality images of this move in my library. I’ll send them to you later.”
After completing the move, Chi Ye straightened up and turned to glance at Yan Xi. His gaze was sharp and icy. Yan Xi scrambled to sit upright, maintaining perfect posture throughout the rest of the battle without daring to glance at Lin Yuran again.
Standing behind Lin Yuran, Chi Ye guided her through another game. When this round concluded, Lin Yuran’s mind overflowed with ideas. Abandoning further gaming, she resolved to capture these concepts in drawings immediately.
Chi Ye glanced at his watch and showed it to her. “Eat first.”
His tone brooked no argument, yet Lin Yuran felt no resentment. At least someone was ensuring she maintained proper meal times.
Lin Yuran stood and addressed her team members. “Lunchtime. Shall we all eat together?”
Ji Mo straightened up to agree, but seeing Yan Xi frantically shaking his head, he held his tongue.
“We can’t risk going now,” Yan Xi said. “You should eat with Brother Chi instead.”
What’s there to risk about eating? Lin Yuran wondered, puzzled.
Qin Lang tossed aside his headphones, stood with a groan, massaging his aching waist. “They’re scared, but I’m not. I’ll go with you.”
Chi Ye shot him a frosty glare, then nodded toward Lin Yuran. “Let’s go.” He made no pretense of waiting for Qin Lang.
After lunch, Chi Ye asked, “Do you want to return to your workstation or go back to the base?”
“Let’s go to the base,” Lin Yuran replied. “The atmosphere is more relaxed there. If I get stuck, I can play a few games to find inspiration.”
Chi Ye led her to the base and straight to an office on the second floor.
“Conveniently, I also enjoy staying here when I’m free,” Chi Ye said. “This is my office here. You can draw here.”
“Oh.” Lin Yuran felt slightly awkward for a moment, considering she’d be spending the afternoon in the same office as Chi Ye.
“Would you like to take a nap? My office has a rest area,” Chi Ye offered.
Lin Yuran shook her head quickly. “I don’t have a habit of napping.”
She’d spent years focused on making money, constantly racing against time. Such a luxurious habit simply didn’t fit her lifestyle.
Chi Ye didn’t press the matter. He took a tablet from his desk and handed it to her, opening the photo album filled with thousands of high-definition game character images.
“Use this tablet. The password is 1126.”
With that, he turned and left the office.
Lin Yuran’s gaze swept around the office before settling on the lazy water droplet sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window. The accompanying side table was perfectly positioned for her to lean over and work, offering unparalleled comfort.
The tablet had already dimmed. After entering the password, Lin Yuran opened the photo album and found the hidden ultimate move effect image from Huo Qubing’s recent performance with just a few swipes. After a moment’s consideration, she plunged into her creation.
Some time later, Chi Ye entered the office and placed a cup of Blue Mountain coffee on her desk. He bent slightly, presenting his hand to her. Resting in his palm was a rainbow starburst lollipop.
“Is this seat comfortable for drawing?” he asked.
Lin Yuran stared at the lollipop in his hand for two frozen seconds before looking up with a smile. “This seat’s way more comfortable than my desk.” She reached out and took one of the lollipops from his palm.
Chi Ye’s lips curled into a smile as he placed the remaining sweets on her desk. He walked back to his own desk and asked, “Want to listen to some music?”
Lin Yuran smiled. “Sure, I actually enjoy listening to music while I draw.”
Chi Ye turned on the music.
The speakers were shaped like a creatively designed black bull terrier wearing sunglasses. The terrier’s sunglasses, rear, and back served as the mid-high frequency, bass output points respectively. The sound was pure and clean, with excellent surround sound. After turning on, the terrier’s paws emitted a cool blue glow, creating a very stylish look.
Chi Ye truly had good taste. Every item in his office was unique and matched his style perfectly.
The music played at a comfortable volume. The slight awkwardness Lin Yuran had felt earlier about being in the same room as Chi Ye gradually disappeared in this relaxed atmosphere.
Lin Yuran bit into the lollipop and glanced up at Chi Ye.
Chi Ye sat upright in his executive chair, silver-rimmed glasses perched on his high nose bridge, exuding an even more ascetic aura.
In the past, he only wore glasses during class or when using the computer. Lin Yuran knew that when he put on his glasses, the small mole between his eyebrows would be perfectly concealed by the frame.
His gaze remained fixed on the computer screen, expression focused as his slender fingers danced across the keyboard. Occasionally, his shoulders would sway to the rhythm of the music. The atmosphere and scene now mirrored their past encounters.
Lin Yuran recalled that after her initial panicked escape without her backpack, she always brought her textbooks with her on subsequent visits.
In Chi Ye’s VIP room, she would typically work through practice problems until late at night while he played games alone. He wore headphones but would play music for her, their shared musical tastes bringing them closer together.
When fatigue overtook her, she’d collapse onto the sofa to sleep. Chi Ye would then shut down his computer and join her on the other couch.Â
