The Yandere Villainess’s Past Life Was That of a Lonely Woman. After Reflecting and Stopping Her Stalking of Her Fiancé, He Somehow Started Approaching Her Instead. - Chapter 23
It seems that dark spirits really hate the light attribute.
Furthermore, I heard they also dislike other attributes and don’t even get along with other dark spirits. When I heard that from Hydra, I thought once again what an incredibly troublesome type they are.
Apparently, they are comparatively friendly toward humans who possess dark-attribute magic, but only because they see them as underlings—or toys.
Truly a worthless existence, I reaffirmed to myself.
“But you know, they’re kind of underground famous, since they’ll grant wishes other spirits refuse,” Hydra said with a grin.
A high-risk, high-reward type, huh? So basically, they take advantage of desperate people.
That’s not prejudice or discrimination—that’s just plain evil. I couldn’t bring myself to laugh.
In the game, to enter Lucius’s romance route, the player needed a high light-attribute score and strong combat parameters.
To reach the heroine’s happy ending required even higher stats.
That was because she had to defeat Licorice, Lucius’s fiancée and the route’s boss, who wielded dark magic.
In other words, Licorice had to lose to such a heroine.
Light holds an advantage over darkness and even inflicts extra damage—what an awful setup.
But despite that, I never once managed to reach a happy ending in Lucius’s route.
Thinking that all of Licorice’s desperate effort ended only in the heroine and Lucius uniting made that route feel unbearably cruel.
“But the current Licorice isn’t interested in that guy, right?”
“Interested? No, I don’t have any romantic feelings for him. If anything, I find him unpleasant.”
“Then I guess it’s fine if the others don’t come back. They’re dark fairies after all, but still, they’re all so heartless.”
If your contractor gets badly injured, you should protect them—or, if it’s too late, at least end their suffering.
Even if he said that with a smile, I couldn’t agree.
He had such an easygoing way of talking that I’d relaxed around him, but I suddenly remembered: this was the man who had nearly killed me not long ago.
Still, thinking about it, his actions made a twisted sort of sense—he had believed I was a fake.
Besides, while I was unconscious, Hydra had looked after me in various ways.
“I do appreciate that you carried me to the infirmary.”
“Then you should also praise me for bringing your things from the classroom, Sis.”
He winked playfully as he said it. He’d probably make a good idol.
The students avoided touching Licorice’s body out of prejudice and disgust. The teachers, on top of that, avoided her because of their knowledge and intuition.
So Hydra apparently introduced himself as Licorice’s younger brother and carried me to the infirmary.
The nurse wasn’t around because after Lucius pushed me, his complexion had turned pale, so one of the girls had taken him to the classroom.
A popular boy and a despised ghost noblewoman—what a difference in public favor. Still, I couldn’t help but feel something off about it all.
While Hydra was preparing for us to leave early, I had woken up in the infirmary. Then, while heading to the faculty room, I ran into the heroine and Lucius by coincidence.
Come to think of it, why was Lucius in the hallway in the first place?
Even if his fiancée was a stalker, violence was still violence.
Even if they didn’t call the police right away, isolating him in the guidance office would’ve made sense. I asked Hydra about that.
“Apparently, he said he felt sick and went out to throw up, but honestly, I think he was trying to run away.”
“If that’s true, that would kill even a century-old love.”
“Exactly. You should dump that guy. Just don’t fall for me, okay?”
“…I know.”
It’s like saying “Don’t get the wrong idea just because I was nice to you.” I tried to keep my tone as indifferent as possible.
There were plenty of online stories about people who mistook kindness for affection, became clingy, and got dumped horribly.
But Hydra wasn’t that kind of person—or so he claimed as he gently pressed a finger against my lips.
“I do like Licorice. And I like you, the current you, too. But the moment Licorice looks my way, I’ll lose all interest and throw her away.”
“I’ll keep being kind and devoted, though, so you’d better be careful.”
With that seductive smile, I decided this man deserved the gold medal in the ‘Most Untrustworthy Person Alive’ competition.
