The Young Master's Stand-in Little White Rabbit Ran Away - Chapter 10
Chapter 10: Fear
“Scared? What is there to be scared of?” Qi Jinnan looked at Shen Nian in confusion. He tossed the removed ceramic shards into the trash bin one by one. The crisp sound of shards hitting the bin’s edge made the atmosphere tense.
But Shen Nian, being simple-minded, didn’t understand why Qi Jinnan wouldn’t agree. He could only blink his teary eyes and say pitifully, “Just… afraid of the piano teacher…”
Qi Jinnan scoffed lightly, “I think you’re not afraid of the piano teacher, but of learning the piano.”
Shen Nian shook his head, saying, “No, not afraid of learning piano, just afraid of the teacher.”
“The teacher is very gentle with you. You should try to be friends with him, instead of calling someone you randomly met on the street a friend like today,” Qi Jinnan said, pouring iodine on Shen Nian’s hand after removing all the shards.
Another wave of pain hit, rendering Shen Nian speechless. He could only tense his rabbit ears. He tried to pull his hand back, but Qi Jinnan held it firmly, giving him no chance to withdraw.
“Sir, Nian Nian hurts, please don’t apply medicine anymore…” Shen Nian sobbed, his soft white hair damp with cold sweat, his face unusually pale.
Qi Jinnan frowned, his expression growing colder, “A bit of pain will make it heal faster.”
The pain blurred Shen Nian’s vision, but thinking that Sir was doing this for his own good, he stopped struggling. He bit his lip tightly, waiting for the iodine to soothe the wound.
After what seemed like an eternity, Qi Jinnan finally stopped. After capping the iodine, he put a very thin glove on Shen Nian’s injured hand to keep water out, then turned on the shower.
Warm water sprayed on Shen Nian, making him shiver involuntarily.
Qi Jinnan knelt down and lifted Shen Nian into the bathtub. He easily removed Shen Nian’s dirty clothes and squeezed some shampoo to wash his hair.
While Shen Nian was happy that Sir was washing his hair, Qi Jinnan unconsciously increased his force, rubbing every inch of his skin vigorously.
“It’s clean now, Sir,” Shen Nian quickly twitched his rabbit ears, the pain on his body feeling like someone was forcefully pulling at him.
“But it’s very dirty. You need to be clean,” Qi Jinnan said expressionlessly, his tone calm to the point of being emotionless.
Shen Nian tried to shrink away, curling up uncomfortably. His thick eyelashes trembled uncontrollably as he looked at Qi Jinnan timidly, “Nian Nian isn’t dirty. Nian Nian bathes every day, very clean.”
Qi Jinnan forcefully straightened his shoulders, looking at him seriously, “No, very dirty. That person touched your head today. Very dirty.”
Shen Nian lowered his head, the light in his eyes gradually dimming.
Even in his simplicity, he understood that Sir was angry with him. He thought Sir wasn’t angry because he didn’t mention the incident, but he didn’t expect Sir to have taken the evening’s event to heart.
But that person was so nice to him, and his hands were clean…
Shen Nian couldn’t understand. The pain on his back seemed to have become numb, but tears still fell uncontrollably, one by one, a heartbreaking sight.
“Alright, get up and change. The doctor is downstairs,” Qi Jinnan stood up, not even looking at him, and walked out of the bathroom.
Shen Nian looked at his reddened thighs and the blood slowly seeping through from inside. Inexplicably, his nose tingled. Did his Sir care about him at all? Why did he do things that hurt him while being good to him?
Shen Nian shakily stood up from the bathtub, went to the changing room to put on clothes, then went downstairs.
When he got downstairs, Su Ziqing was already taking out medicine bottles and tools from the medical box.
“Sir…” Shen Nian’s little rabbit ears drooped as he searched for Qi Jinnan’s figure in the empty living room.
He was really too thin; when wearing the pure white T-shirt, the hollows and protrusions of his collarbones became very obvious.
Su Ziqing waved at Shen Nian, “Nian Nian, come here, let me treat your wound.”
Having met Su Ziqing several times, Shen Nian’s wariness towards him had gradually disappeared. He asked softly, “Where did Sir go?”
“Oh, Old Qi probably went to the study to work. Nian Nian, be good, let’s not disturb him, okay?” Su Ziqing comforted him gently. He didn’t reveal the cruel truth that Qi Jinnan was actually angry and didn’t want to see Shen Nian right now.
Hearing that Qi Jinnan was busy, Shen Nian stopped looking and obediently sat on the other side of the sofa.
His hair wasn’t yet dry. The snow-white strands, having grown long from not being cut for a while, clung softly to the side of his neck. His jade-white rabbit ears, still flushed from the hot water’s steam, had a faint pink tinge.
Su Ziqing first re-treated the wound, frowning when he saw that the rough bandaging had caused the wound to gape open.
Because the wound on Shen Nian’s hand was quite deep, a tetanus shot was necessary.
As soon as Su Ziqing took out the long needle and syringe from his medical bag, Shen Nian started screaming and tried to run away. However, he tripped over the coffee table and fell heavily to the ground with a ‘thud’.
Su Ziqing hadn’t anticipated this reaction. Shen Nian hadn’t received many injections when he was sick before, so this situation caught him off guard.
“Nian Nian, let’s get an injection. It won’t hurt,” Su Ziqing coaxed gently.
Shen Nian shook his head, his rabbit ears bristling. His soft voice trembled with fear, “You’re a bad guy, you’re a bad guy!”
Hearing the commotion, Qi Jinnan immediately ran downstairs. He was surprised and alarmed to see Shen Nian curled up in the corner of the living room, his face filled with terror.
He approached and crouched down to touch Shen Nian, but was avoided.
This had never happened before. He withdrew his suspended hand and asked Su Ziqing, “What happened?”
Su Ziqing shrugged helplessly, “I just took out the IV needle, and your little rabbit started screaming. No matter what I say, he won’t listen and insists I’m a big bad guy.”
Qi Jinnan took a deep breath and called out to Shen Nian in a gentle, deep voice, “Nian Nian, Nian Nian…”
Hearing the familiar voice, Shen Nian finally raised his head from between his knees and looked at Qi Jinnan in a daze. “Sir?”
“Come, let me hold you, okay?” Qi Jinnan opened his arms, the gentle light in his light purple pupils almost overflowing.
Shen Nian wanted to hug Qi Jinnan back, but remembering how forcefully Qi Jinnan had scrubbed him earlier, he timidly curled himself tightly into a snowball.
Qi Jinnan had initially thought to let him be, but ultimately softened his heart upon seeing that extremely familiar face. Then he…
