The Young Master's Stand-in Little White Rabbit Ran Away - Chapter 5
Chapter 5: Can I?
Since Shen Nian’s injury, he naturally didn’t have to attend piano lessons temporarily. As a result, he began to diligently clean the house every day and livestream his small cake-making process.
He might be a bit slow and afraid of face-to-face communication, but as long as he didn’t show his face and just shared his cake-making process online, seeing many people praise him could make him happy for a long time.
Speaking of this livestream, he originally didn’t know how to do it. But Qi Jinnan, being not only the executive director of a pharmaceutical company but also the CEO of a famous entertainment company, personally taught him how to livestream after seeing his talent in this area. This method helped him pass the time when he was alone at home and allowed Qi Jinnan to observe his condition when he was by himself.
However, recently, he didn’t know what was wrong. Previously, he could make several desserts in an afternoon, but today he only made one before starting to feel drowsy.
“Let’s stop here for today. If I have time tomorrow, we’ll see each other in the afternoon. Goodbye, fans and friends.” Shen Nian waved goodbye to the phone, his gentle and soft voice winning over many fangirls. Everyone in the bullet comments was saying goodbye and expressing their reluctance to part.
After closing the livestream, Shen Nian began to tidy up the kitchen. The island was covered with his small cake-making tools, like piping bags, egg beaters, and flour sieves.
Just as he finished cleaning up, he glanced at the clock on the wall and realized it was time to start preparing Qi Jinnan’s dinner.
But he was so tired he could barely keep his eyes open. He shuffled towards the sofa in his slippers, mumbling “just ten minutes” to himself, and set an alarm for ten minutes before reaching the sofa.
Unexpectedly, he fell into a deep sleep and didn’t even hear the alarm when it went off.
…
“Shen Nian, wake up!”
A deep, magnetic voice sounded in his ear. Shen Nian rubbed his eyes and looked at the man in front of him with blurry vision. Seeing it was Qi Jinnan, he hugged his waist clingily and smiled foolishly, “Sir, welcome back…”
As Shen Nian spoke, his pink-white little rabbit ears twitched, looking very cute, unconsciously softening the hearts of those who saw.
“Mm, I’m hungry. Go make dinner.” Qi Jinnan gently pinched his cheek, his tone gentle.
“I’m sorry, sir. I forgot…” Shen Nian seemed to suddenly realize he had forgotten to cook. He hurriedly stood up, put on his fluffy cotton slippers, and walked to the kitchen.
Soon, the table was filled with three dishes and a soup: tender and delicious braised pork, stir-fried pork with sour bamboo shoots, garlic vegetable greens, and seaweed egg drop soup. There was a balance of meat and vegetables.
Shen Nian watched Qi Jinnan eat happily, occasionally adding food to his bowl, his soft face full of smiles.
The sir liked eating the food he cooked. Did that mean the sir still approved of him?
Thinking this, his heart began to beat happily.
After dinner, Shen Nian cleaned up the table and saw Qi Jinnan sitting on the sofa working on his computer.
He stood quietly to the side, watching Qi Jinnan. When the sir was working, his face usually didn’t show much expression, making him seem unapproachable. But this didn’t prevent Shen Nian from admiring him: gold-rimmed glasses perched on his high nose bridge, deep eyes focused on the data on the screen, long fingers tapping on the black and white keyboard, not noisy but rather creating a rhythmic beauty.
Shen Nian brought a freshly brewed cup of tea to Qi Jinnan. Just as he set it down, he heard the phone on the coffee table ring abruptly.
The ringtone sounded in the quiet living room. Shen Nian, being a rabbit beastman and rabbits being easily startled, was so scared that he spilled some water, his rabbit ears twitching wildly.
Qi Jinnan picked up the phone and answered, his voice lazy, “Wen Yu, what’s the matter?”
“It’s like this, I’ve noticed Nian Nian hasn’t let me come for piano lessons for many days. Does he not like me?” The voice on the other end of the phone sounded faintly tearful, as if suffering some unjust treatment.
Qi Jinnan glanced indifferently at Shen Nian standing to the side and said in a low voice, “Come over tomorrow. He’s almost recovered.”
“Alright, goodnight then.” Hearing this, the tone on the other end of the phone became much lighter.
After hanging up, Qi Jinnan beckoned to Shen Nian, “Come here.”
Shen Nian put down the teacup, wiped the table dry with a towel, and then reluctantly sat down next to Qi Jinnan. “Sir…”
“Mm, you should have heard my phone call just now, right?” Qi Jinnan casually squeezed the back of Shen Nian’s neck, his tone light with a hint of probing.
Shen Nian wanted to say he hadn’t heard, but after pressing his lips together, he still nodded blankly and said, “I heard.”
“Very good. These days, you should study piano well. I have to go on a business trip for a few days. You’ll be alone at home, and when I return, I’ll check your practice results. Is that okay?” Qi Jinnan ran his hand through Shen Nian’s hair. The silly rabbit’s hair was very smooth, soft like his personality. So sometimes he liked to cup the back of Shen Nian’s head in his palm, feeling the hair go from dry to damp with sweat.
Shen Nian couldn’t help but swallow, his eyes full of fear. “Sir, can… can I go with you? I can do laundry and cook, and I’ll take care of you…”
Hearing this, Qi Jinnan’s face suddenly turned cold. He sneered, “Are you saying you want to slack off?”
“I… I’m not…” Shen Nian lowered his rabbit ears helplessly, his eyelashes drooping low, looking like a wilted little cabbage.
“Good that you’re not. If you came with me…” At this point, Qi Jinnan calmly closed his laptop. “It wouldn’t be appropriate.”
Shen Nian didn’t understand why it wouldn’t be appropriate, but he felt a sting in his eyes. He pursed his lips, trying hard not to let the tears fall, but they still fell uncontrollably. “Mm, I understand…”
Qi Jinnan stood up, his tall figure quickly overshadowing the thin young man in front of him. His tone was much softer than before, “Alright, I’ve checked your wound and it seems to have healed well. Take a shower later and come to my room.”
Shen Nian immediately realized Qi Jinnan’s intention. Shame and anger almost reddened his neck, but it was very painful. He wanted to tell A-Nan that he didn’t want to do it…
He deliberated for a long time, and finally mustered the courage to say to Qi Jinnan: “Sir, I… I’m a bit tired today…”
“So?” Qi Jinnan was unfastening his wristwatch, his tone casual and nonchalant.
Shen Nian couldn’t understand the implication in Qi Jinnan’s words, nor did he realize the other was angry. He was a rabbit, and a silly one at that. He thought that just expressing his discomfort would be enough to gain his lover’s understanding. His dark eyes brightened, like sunlight reflecting off snow, “Sir, I’m afraid of pain. Can we not do that thing?”
