Chapter 6: I’ll Wait for You However Long It Takes
Qi Jinnan sighed deeply, looking at him with some sadness. He reached out and gently rubbed Shen Nian’s earlobe. “But I’m about to go on a business trip. Won’t Nian Nian miss me?”
Just thinking about staying alone in this big empty house for so long, not seeing Qi Jinnan for such a long time, made Shen Nian’s heart feel heavy and uncomfortable.
He didn’t want to be apart from Qi Jinnan. He stepped forward, hugging Qi Jinnan and said in a muffled voice, “I’ll miss sir. I want sir to come back quickly.”
“Then can Nian Nian fulfill my request?” Qi Jinnan’s tone was extremely tender, like a devil tempting Shen Nian to pick the poisonous fruit from the tree.
Shen Nian was afraid of spending less and less time with Qi Jinnan. His rabbit ears drooped dejectedly, his breathing hitched, and tears quickly filled his eyes.
“Okay, sir can do whatever he wants…” Shen Nian bit his lip and replied in a trembling voice.
“Good boy. I’ll go to the study for a while now. Come find me after you’ve showered.” Qi Jinnan lowered his head to kiss Shen Nian’s thin eyelids, then let him go.
Shen Nian watched Qi Jinnan finally release him and go to the study. Only then did he dare to stand up and walk upstairs.
He showered for nearly half an hour, then wrapped in a towel, opened the bathroom door and walked into the bedroom.
Qi Jinnan was sitting on a small sofa near the floor-to-ceiling window. The dim light fell on him, wearing a deep blue silk robe, his long legs crossed lazily. He was holding a document about the company, signing it. Although it was written in black and white, Shen Nian didn’t understand any of it, so he looked without concern.
Shen Nian didn’t dare get too close. He knew the sir hated people approaching when he was working.
He just took a cream-colored towel to dry his damp hair, trying not to disturb Qi Jinnan nearby.
After who knows how long, Qi Jinnan finally finished his work. He saw Shen Nian with the towel on his head, nodding off but only daring to nod his head intermittently, falling asleep then opening his eyes again. He couldn’t help but laugh.
As soon as he gathered the documents, Shen Nian walked over to him. “Sir, it’s very dark… let’s go to sleep…”
“Sleep?” Qi Jinnan held him in his arms. Shen Nian naturally let himself be embraced. Fresh from the shower, Shen Nian had a faint sweet scent. His little rabbit ears weren’t completely dry, some fur still damp and clumped together.
“Mm, it’s late… should be sleepy…” Shen Nian habitually nuzzled Qi Jinnan’s neck, his soft, moist lips brushing against skin creating an indescribable shiver. This feeling was like an electric current passing through the chest, tingling and numbing.
Qi Jinnan’s Adam’s apple bobbed with some restraint, his voice becoming much deeper and hoarser, “How can I sleep when you’re teasing me like this?”
Shen Nian rubbed his eyes and spread his hands for Qi Jinnan to see, replying softly, “I don’t have a lighter, I didn’t set any fires.”
Qi Jinnan couldn’t hold back anymore. He casually picked up the remote control, and the projection screen slowly unfolded its image. The scene was still in a rainy season, the male and female leads painfully parting, gazing at each other lovingly under a black umbrella. It was a farewell kiss.
Whenever the sir was sober, he would play a rainy love movie every time they did such things.
He couldn’t understand why the separation in the scene was happening, only feeling that the memory of pain became much more vivid at this moment, and vaguely sensing that the movie was both a hint and a beginning.
Qi Jinnan tightly gripped Shen Nian’s waist. The moment the kiss fell, reason was completely overtaken by desire, and both of their breathing began to quicken.
Shen Nian, out of fear of pain, unconsciously let tears fall again. His fingers involuntarily tried to grasp onto something desperately. But the next moment, he was lifted up by Qi Jinnan. Suspended in the air, he could only hold onto the other tightly, as if grasping at a lifeline…
When he woke up again, it was already the next morning. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the grass and trees were lush. Warm morning light fell on Shen Nian’s thin body. The cracked corners of his mouth with dried blood traces were heated by the sunlight. He smelled the lingering scent in the room, then looked at the empty bed beside him. Tears fell uncontrollably.
The sir had left him alone at home again. Just thinking that he might have to attend piano lessons later made him no longer want to stay in bed. As he was about to get up, his abdomen ached terribly.
However, this situation was quickly ignored by him, because after doing embarrassing things with the sir before, his stomach would also hurt. It’s just that recently, the pain had become more noticeable.
Maybe it was because he hadn’t had much appetite lately and ate too little…
Just as he finished washing up and came downstairs, Wen Yu arrived right on time and walked towards him.
He fearfully took a few steps back, “He-hello, teacher…”
…
After the piano lesson, Shen Nian had a few more needle prick wounds on his fingers. They were too small for anyone to notice. With A-Nan not at home, he curled up alone in the room, hugging A-Nan’s shirt as he fell asleep.
He took his phone and dialed the number, but the other end was always busy, unreachable with the message “Sorry, the number you’ve dialed is temporarily unavailable…”
Perhaps tomorrow he’d be able to get through?
During the time Qi Jinnan was away, he started to experiment with new dishes, thinking that when he returned, maybe he could taste them.
Just thinking about this made his heart leap with joy.
However, during this waiting period, one evening there was suddenly thunder and lightning, and at the same time, the power in the villa went out. The swaying tree shadows outside the floor-to-ceiling windows looked like ghosts. Shen Nian, terrified, only dared to huddle in the wardrobe, hugging his little night light, repeatedly dialing Qi Jinnan’s number.
Finally, the call connected.
“What’s the matter?” The deep, magnetic voice on the other end of the phone made Shen Nian, who had been holding back his tears, start crying immediately.
He missed the sir so much, wanted the sir to come back quickly, but he knew the sir was very busy and couldn’t always take care of him.
“Sir…” After a long time, Shen Nian only managed these two words.
“Mm.”
“Sir, I miss you…” Shen Nian raised his hand to wipe away the tears from the corner of his eyes, his voice slightly choked with sobs.
Unusually, Qi Jinnan didn’t hang up immediately. After a moment of silence, he comforted him, “Be good, I’ll be home in a few days.”
“Okay, I’ll wait for sir.” Shen Nian curled his little rabbit ears. He had wanted to say a few more words to Qi Jinnan, but unfortunately, the other’s assistant suddenly notified Qi Jinnan of an emergency situation.
The call was abruptly ended. Shen Nian stared dejectedly at the now-black screen of his phone. He wanted to say, “Sir, I love you, I love you very much, so I’ll wait for you to come home no matter how long it takes…”
