Episode 2: Water Drops in the Palm
While holding my head, I desperately tried to remember who I was. But nothing came to mind…
I endured the pain in my body, the hunger, and the thirst. I wanted to drink water no matter what.
I couldn’t get used to the stinking smell that filled the box I was in. I wanted to rinse my mouth.
“Water… water… water… anything is fine, just one sip of drinkable water…”
As I desperately wished for water, a pulling pain came from deep in my chest… around my solar plexus. I felt like something slipped out from my right arm. And my right palm felt damp.
Hn? What is this feeling…? When I looked at my right hand, water drops were seeping out onto my palm.
When I cupped my hand like a dish, the drops slowly started to gather.
One mouthful’s worth of water had gathered.
I hesitantly brought my mouth close to my palm and took the water in my mouth.
My palm was covered in something slimy and unidentifiable. The water that had collected in it smelled so bad and tasted so terrible it made me nauseous. But I had no choice but to drink it.
I gulped it down. But it was so bad that I immediately spat it out.
However, my palm seemed to have gotten a little cleaner. And the water drops that started gathering again seemed to smell less.
Another mouthful of drops gathered, and I swallowed them slowly.
It was more drinkable than before.
For a while, I sipped every time drops gathered.
As my thirst began to ease, I rubbed the gathered water drops onto my hands and face. Little by little, I cleaned off the dirt.
The pulling pain deep in my solar plexus became unbearable. So I whispered, “Water… stop,” and the drops stopped coming out.
I felt relieved that I could control the water coming out and stopping. But, the pain in my body and head was still terrible. So I wrapped my arms around my body and quietly endured the pain.
Who can I ask to find out who I am…?
Before long, I had fallen into a mud-like sleep.
