There's Something Strange About My Water Magic ~ Before I Knew It, I Was a Slum Orphan Thrown Into the Trash Bin ~ - Episode 6: Stripping
Episode 6: Stripping
I fearfully reached out my hand and closed the eyes of John Doe. He was looking at me with a resentful gaze.
At a glance, he looked like a man in his thirties or forties. But his body was brawny—more like a manual laborer… no, the tag hanging from his neck says “adventurer.”
I looked at the things that were thrown on top of John’s body.
There were some spare clothes and a few small leather pouches… When I looked inside, there was dried meat, hard bread cut into sticks, a water pouch, and a bag with salt in it.
I bit into the dried meat.
Hard!
Salty!!
But edible!!!
While drinking from the water pouch, I alternated between the hard dried meat and pieces of bread.
Phew~, filling your stomach with proper food really is happiness~.
The smell of raw garbage was still enough to make my nose twist, though.
I took the change of clothes that was thrown on top of John’s body and sniffed it.
Maybe it’s been washed… It doesn’t smell like old man.
I stripped off my own filthy, ragged clothes that were soaked with the stench of rotten garbage. I then used the water from my palms to clean my body.
I wiped myself down with the spare clothes and changed into another set. But they were really baggy. So I had to fold the pants legs and shirt sleeves many times.
When I looked carefully, I found socks and worn-out shoes too.
I touched my feet while chanting in my mind, “Be clean~ be clean~” And since they somehow felt clean, I put on the socks and shoes.
I tucked the long pants legs into the shoes and tied the laces tightly—it felt refreshing in a way.
Alright, in that case, let’s get the heck out of this stinky trash bin and go outside already.
Thinking that, I climbed over John’s body and reached for the trash bin lid—but with only a shirt on, it felt kind of cold. So I looked around to see if there was a coat thrown away or something. But there wasn’t.
The only thing was the robe that John was wearing.
It felt kind of gross to strip something directly off a corpse. But he’s dead—can’t complain, right? I thought, and tried to take the robe off. But his body had stiffened. So it was really hard work.
Somehow I managed to get the robe off him and put it on; it covered me down to below the knees.
Pretty baggy, but oh well.
But it felt gross, like the smell of the corpse had soaked into it. So I stroked the robe with both hands while repeatedly chanting, “Be clean~ be clean~.”
The robe seemed to become clean. But little by little, a prickling pain started in the area of my solar plexus.
The bump on the back of my head hurt too…
I placed my left hand on my solar plexus and my right hand on the back of my head. And I kept chanting, “Pain pain, go away~~” over and over.
The pain gradually faded. But at the same time, my consciousness also began to fade…
