Chapter 1 He must have heard wrong. He really wanted to tie Gu Shiying to the bed…
The school’s No. 1 cafeteria was bustling with activity. Gu Shiying finished his lunch and prepared to clear the dishes and return to his dorm.
There were simply too many people. The weather was unusually hot this year; it was only mid-May, and already sweating.
The school’s No. 1 cafeteria was popular among students for its affordable prices and delicious food. The only downside was the high volume of people, and squeezing in and out meant bumping into people, which inevitably led to bumps on the arms.
Gu Shiying had changed into a short-sleeved shirt today. He tried his best to avoid others, but he still bumped into them. A flurry of voices filled his head.
[Fvck! Isn’t that my goddess?]
[Damn! My CP is broken again today!]
[Who added me on WeChat last night and didn’t say anything? I’m so pissed.]
[Who the hell didn’t change clothes? The stench of sweat is killing me. [Red Braised Pork, I must have Red Braised Pork today!]
Gu Shiying quickly squeezed through the crowd; the noises gave him a headache.
One night a month ago, after a rainy day, he took a shortcut back to his dorm. He slipped and hit his head on a nearby tree. He was dazed for a while, and the next day, he discovered he had acquired the ability to read people’s minds.
At first, he thought he was hallucinating and even consulted a psychologist, but the problem didn’t go away. The mind-reading ability persisted. He even verified it with his good friends several times, and they confirmed that he could hear the same thoughts as his friends.
Thankfully, the mind-reading ability hadn’t had a significant impact on his health or his daily life. As long as he avoided skin contact, it wasn’t a problem.
But with summer coming, it was inevitable that he’d be bumped into in crowds, making it difficult to guard against them.
Maybe he should wear long sleeves tomorrow.
Gu Shiying retreated from the crowd, his mind clear of the chaotic noises of others prying into his ears. The air he breathed felt fresher.
Just in time, his phone rang.
It was his good friend Zhang Zhi, calling him, clearly a bit anxious.
As soon as Gu Shiying answered, he hurriedly said, “Ying’er, help me, help me!”
Gu Shiying: “What’s up?”
Zhang Zhi: “Can you buy me two cups of milk tea and send them to the girls’ dormitory? I’m having dinner with a friend right now and can’t leave.”
Gu Shiying knew what he was up to. His good friend was trying to woo a girl from the Foreign Languages Department. He’d been using all sorts of tactics lately, but it seemed like there hadn’t been any significant progress.
Gu Shiying stared at the sun overhead. “You’re delivering milk tea to Liu Wenqing again! Can’t you do it yourself? Don’t you know how hot it is outside? It’s 35 degrees today, and it takes me ten minutes to bike from the milk tea shop to the girls’ dormitory.”
Zhang Zhi hummed and groaned as a hunk approached, pleading, “Help me, please! I just agreed to a request. Please, this is the first time someone’s asked me for something, so they must have feelings for me. I’ll take care of your breakfast for the month. How about that, how about that!”
Gu Shiying rubbed his goosebumps. “Okay, but don’t disgust me anymore.” “Okay, honey! Remember one cup has three-tenths of sugar, and the other one is for her best friend, five-tenths.”
Gu Shiying rolled his eyes at the azure sky. “Do you know what you look like right now?”
Zhang Zhi: “What?”
Gu Shiying: “A lickspittle.”
Zhang Zhi: “Your little mouth is like poison.”
Gu Shiying: “That’s good to know.”
The milk tea shop was right next to the cafeteria and quite crowded. Cold drink shops are always crowded in the summer. He ordered three cups, two for the girls’ dormitory and one for himself.
Twenty minutes later, he was waiting downstairs, milk tea in hand.
Girls passing by cast curious glances at him, but no one approached to ask for his contact information, perhaps assuming he was delivering milk tea to their girlfriends.
Soon, a girl wearing pink bow slippers ran towards him with a smile.
Liu Wenqing was nearly 5 feet 4 inches tall, with long black hair and light makeup. She was beautiful, her eyes twinkling. No wonder Zhang Zhi pursued her like a goddess.
Liu Wenqing spoke softly and gently, “Gu Shiying?”
Gu Shiying: “This is the milk tea Zhang Zhi sent me.”
Liu Wenqing took the tea and said with a smile, “Thank you.”
Gu Shiying completed his task and prepared to leave.
He was about to saddle back onto his bicycle when Liu Wenqing hesitated and called out, “Wait, Gu Shiying, are you sharing a dorm with Fu Huan?”
Gu Shiying was stunned. Although this wasn’t the first time he’d met Liu Wenqing, he didn’t seem to have mentioned which dorm he lived in. How did she know he and Fu Huan shared a dorm?
Gu Shiying: “Yes.”
Liu Wenqing explained, a little embarrassed, “Don’t mind me. Zhang Zhi told me you and Fu Huan were in the same dorm. Could you please give me his WeChat?”
Gu Shiying: “…” It seemed this girl had other intentions. “Then I’ll go back and ask him.”
Liu Wenqing couldn’t hide her delight: “Then I’ll add you on WeChat. Thank you.”
Gu Shiying didn’t ask her why. From her expression, he could tell she wasn’t interested in her brother. (Then, perhaps, a sentimental sentiment.)
“You’re welcome, but I can’t guarantee he’ll add you.”
Gu Shiying couldn’t refuse Liu Wenqing. After all, they knew each other, but he couldn’t tell his brother about it. He had no choice but to go to Fu Huan and explain everything, asking him to stay out of this matter. What kind of girlfriend did Fu Huan have?
Gu Shiying lived in a four-person dorm, but his four roommates were from different majors. Because of their different majors and different class schedules, he wasn’t familiar with them.
Fu Huan was even more mysterious. He didn’t talk much during the day, and their interactions were even rarer.
Gu Shiying didn’t see Fu Huan often in the dorm during the day, and he hadn’t really inquired about his whereabouts.
When he returned to the dorm, someone else had already returned. They were playing games with headphones on, but Gu Shiying didn’t disturb them. He sipped his gardenia-flavored iced milk tea, washing away the heat and dryness he’d picked up from outside. Soon, the cup was empty, but a few pearls remained at the bottom.
Sip, sip, sip.
Gulp~
Gulp~
Gulp~
Gulp~
Damn it, I just can’t get any more.
No more.
He stood up and tossed the cup into the trash can behind the door. Just as he was about to turn around, the door opened, and a tall, slender figure almost loomed over him. The moment he looked up, Gu Shiying felt the pressure of his height.
It was Fu Huan back.
His roommate.
Gu Shiying, remembering his brother, offered, “You’re back.”
Fu Huan’s brows arched slightly, as if a little surprised. “Yeah, I didn’t notice you behind the door.”
Gu Shiying shook his head. “It’s okay, it didn’t touch me.”
Fu Huan nodded, walked past Gu Shiying to his chair, and then turned on the computer on his desk.
Gu Shiying stood there, debating whether to bring up the matter with Fu Huan about Liu Wenqing, whom his brother was pursuing, and wanting to add him on WeChat.
But he and Fu Huan weren’t really close, and bringing it up would be awkward.
Gu Shiying hesitated as he sat back down at his desk, a book spread out on it, unread. His peripheral vision flickered to Fu Huan’s profile.
Fu Huan was handsome, with distinct, sharp features, but he always wore an expression of utter indifference to the world.
His and Fu Huan’s beds were parallel, so he could see him just by turning his head.
How could he bring this up with an unfamiliar roommate? He couldn’t even bring this up with his close friend.
After he dawdled for a while, Fu Huan had already returned to his bed for a nap.
Gu Shiying had missed the perfect opportunity and could only lie back in bed. It wasn’t his business, so he decided to take a nap first.
It was still more comfortable to sleep with a pillow.
An hour later, Gu Shiying woke from his nap and suddenly remembered he had a small task. He looked at the bed next to him, but Fu Huan was no longer there.
When did he leave?
Never mind, he had to go to class first.
Gu Shiying jumped out of bed and looked up to see Fu Huan entering from the balcony.
Fu Huan casually drew the curtains aside, letting a bright beam of sunlight fill the dimly lit room, illuminating his handsome face hidden in the shadows.
Gu Shiying met Fu Huan’s gaze, but his face was so cold, his eyes so deep, that he hesitated to speak. As Fu Huan looked at him, Gu Shiying busily scratched his arm, which didn’t itch at all. He walked around Fu Huan and went into the bathroom.
When he came out again, Fu Huan put a few books into his backpack and stood up to leave the dormitory.
Gu Shiying was a little anxious. Today was Friday, and Fu Huan usually left school on Friday night and didn’t return until Monday morning.
He picked up his backpack and ran after Fu Huan.
Fu Huan had long arms and legs, and even though Gu Shiying was only a few seconds late, he was already at the stairs.
“Fu Huan, wait a minute.”
Gu Shiying trotted over to catch up with Fu Huan as he descended the stairs.
Fu Huan turned and raised his eyes. “What’s up?”
Gu Shiying: “Well, if a girl named Liu Wenqing wants to add you on WeChat, can you refuse?”
Fu Huan: “What do you mean?”
Gu Shiying: “She might want to pursue you, but I…”
Fu Huan gave Gu Shiying a blank look without responding, seemingly unwilling to engage with Gu Shiying’s topic. He continued down the stairs without stopping, and Gu Shiying had no choice but to follow him.
Gu Shiying raised his chin and asked, “I know my request might be a little unreasonable, but is it okay?”
He truly risked his life for his brother. Zhang Zhi would have to repay him well in the future!
Fu Huan glanced down at Gu Shiying, then back at the stairs ahead. He walked quickly, and Gu Shiying could only tread lightly to keep up, watching his reaction as he descended.
Suddenly, he missed the step ahead and flinched, his body lurching forward uncontrollably. Panicking, he could only reach for the nearest handrail and the nearby support.
A large hand firmly grasped his arm, and a deep voice echoed in his ear.
“Watch the road.”
Gu Shiying was about to say thank you, but before he could, a strange and unfamiliar voice filled his mind.
[I really want to tie Gu Shiying to the bed and prevent him from liking anyone else.]
Gu Shiying froze for a second, thinking he had misheard.
By then, Fu Huan had already released his arm. After making sure Gu Shiying was alright, he strode down the stairs.
But Gu Shiying didn’t take the next step for a long moment.
Did he hear Fu Huan’s inner voice?
There were other students on the stairs, but no one else had pulled him up; only Fu Huan had touched his skin.
But this inner voice…
He must have misheard.

Hello everyone, I’m quietly working on a project in the scorching heat~
–
[Breaking down in tears] Let me explain my original intention for revising the story.
Actually, I had an outline for the original storyline for “Supernatural Elements,” even including a 3,000-word opening. But why didn’t it get published? Well, after writing the first chapter, I felt it was bland. I couldn’t write the second chapter for a long time. I showed it to my best friend, and she thought it was bland too. I pondered what went wrong, and I found it. It turned out to be a conflict between my original intention and the setting. I wanted to write a love story between Yingying and Xiaofu, but the original setting for Xiaofu’s superpowers was too powerful, making it a bit stereotyped and lacking room for development, making their interactions difficult to develop. So, I tried removing the superpower setting, and that helped the plot flow, leading to the current story.
Although the superpower setting was removed, the characters of the two protagonists were already established long ago and haven’t changed much since the beginning, and their relationship is now more grounded.
However, I still have to apologize to those who prefer the superpower world. [Breaking down in tears] I really didn’t mean to say that. I’m sorry!
I hope you all will continue to enjoy these two babies. Thank you for your support and love! So happy!
