Chapter 10 Absolutely Impossible. Could the tarot cards tell whether Gu Shiying could…?
Gu Shiying’s forehead veins bulged with fear.
This Fu Huan spent his days fussing in his head, and he even dared to let his emotions show!
Fu Huan had no idea that Gu Shiying had already discovered his hidden secret. He carefully observed Gu Shiying’s mood swings.
He lowered his head and asked, “Are you feeling unwell?”
“No,” Gu Shiying replied with an extremely stiff tone, and he couldn’t help but clench his fists.
He quietly distanced himself from Fu Huan and pulled down the sleeves of his rolled-up shirt.
But then again, even though Fu Huan’s inner voice made him want to beat him up, it seemed to have some effect. He had indeed just shaken several people’s hands, and their hands were probably still sweaty. Thinking about it, he felt uncomfortable all over and thought he really needed to wash his hands.
“Yes, we’ll be there soon,” Fu Huan’s voice was much softer, almost soothing.
He dismissed Gu Shiying’s awkward reaction as discomfort, but Gu Shiying was being stubborn.
The elevator was a confined space; the closer you got, the better to talk.
I don’t know if it was the perfume Fu Huan had used before leaving, or if it was just the natural scent on his clothes, but he just smelled better than the others.
The man next to him had a bad breath and kept talking, forcing Gu Shiying to tilt his head slightly just enough to get his nose close to Fu Huan’s shoulder. The ten-centimeter height difference was the only benefit, nothing more!
On the way back, Fu Huan drove silently. Yang Shuheng and Guan Yu fell asleep in the back seat, and Gu Shiying’s mind was preoccupied with Lin Shuheng and his teammates.
Back in the dorm, Gu Shiying instinctively rushed to the bathroom to wash his hands. After rubbing twice with soap, he felt much fresher.
It was all Fu Huan’s fault; he was practically developing mysophobia.
Everyone got home late today, having spent the entire night listening to music. Yang Shuheng and Guan Yu slept for a while in the car, chattering non-stop since their return. Gu Shiying, however, began to feel sleepy after taking a shower, and fell asleep to the sound of their conversation.
Fu Huan tossed a freshly opened tissue box into the trash can. Passing by Gu Shiying’s bed, he noticed one of his feet had slipped over the guardrail. He grabbed his ankle and tucked it back into bed.
The other two had returned to their beds, and he turned off the dorm lights.
Gu Shiying, who had just fallen into a deep sleep, suddenly jolted awake. Turning over, he realized he had just heard his inner voice!
[The ankle is so small, and the toes are pink, so adorable.]
Gu Shiying opened his eyes with a flick of his wrist: “Hmm?”
Why could he hear Fu Huan’s inner voice even in his sleep?
He must be possessed, dreaming of Fu Huan’s agonizing inner voice.
Damn, small ankles and cute toes—so perverted.
He’s a guy, after all.
Fortunately, Gu Shiying was incredibly sleepy. He muttered a few words to himself and fell back asleep.
Sunday is a time for college students to sleep in, but Gu Shiying wasn’t one of them. As long as he got enough sleep, he’d wake up early.
He was the only one awake in the entire dorm; even Guan Yu, who always had a disciplined, old-fashioned routine, didn’t wake up early.
How did the four of them suddenly become so close? They even went to a livehouse together yesterday.
Oh, right? He had to remind Yang Shuheng about that Stone Brother.
But how?
He couldn’t just tell him right away that his bandmate, who’d been working with him for over a year, was actually a mean-spirited person with bad intentions towards him.
He needed to first understand what kind of person Stone Brother was in their band.
Social platforms are developing rapidly these days, and big data is driving user engagement. This is especially true for those in the entertainment industry, who are bound to post a variety of videos.
Gu Shiying prepared to go get breakfast; a full stomach would give him the energy to think.
He saw Fu Huan sitting up in bed, his face drowsy, his eyes half-closed, still looking at him. It was hard to ignore him.
Fu Huan, newly awake, rasped, “Going to get breakfast?”
Gu Shiying was vulnerable to such a voice. He had intended to be tough with the other person, but he was unprepared for someone who had just woken up, and he softened a little.
“Yes.”
Fu Huan: “Bring me some back.”
Gu Shiying couldn’t refuse; after all, the other person hadn’t done anything unbelievable to him.
“Okay.”
Gu Yu also groggily got up to go to the bathroom. Upon hearing their voices, he asked Gu Shiying to bring him breakfast.
Gu Shiying simply said, “Then I’ll buy four servings. You can eat whatever I buy.”
Neither of them objected. As for Yang Shuheng, who was still asleep, his opinion could be ignored.
In fact, Gu Shiying would observe his roommates regularly. They didn’t seem to have any major dietary restrictions and ate pretty much the same food; after all, they all had Chinese stomachs.
Gu Shiying brought back breakfast. Thinking of the hungry mouths in the dorm, he packed up his own portion as well.
He was sweating after his outing, and the temperature was rising.
Fu Huan, after washing up, sat in a chair, checking his phone. Seeing Gu Shiying carrying a large pile of breakfast, he took it and shared it with everyone.
The four breakfasts all had the same variety, no choice.
Gu Shiying’s words truly lived up to his words: everyone would eat whatever he bought.
Gu Shiying began to eat while he got busy.
Since he was planning to warn Yang Shuheng about his teammates’ problems, he should first investigate what kind of person Brother Shitou was. That way, he could prescribe the right remedy.
It would be even better if he could monitor their thoughts at all times.
Gu Shiying munched on a steamed bun while browsing Douyin and found the band’s main account. It documented their daily lives, new song releases, and other topics. There were quite a few videos, all of good quality. The five young people in the videos were playing around, each with distinct personalities.
Under the most popular comments were comments hyping up couples, and the most popular couples were Yang Shuheng and Brother Shitou, and Brother Shitou and the lead singer.
The interactions between Brother Shitou and Yang Shuheng in the videos were like an older brother caring for and doting on his younger brother. However, no matter how he looked at it, some of Brother Shitou’s actions towards Yang Shuheng in the videos seemed a bit deliberate.
Perhaps he had preconceived notions that Brother Shitou had ill intentions towards Yang Shuheng.
He traced the band’s account to Brother Shitou’s private account.
Shitou portrays a warm and gentle man on his band’s account, but his personal account is filled with selfies and videos, mostly from various angles, all in dark colors, and filled with comments like, “He’s so handsome!”
This week, it was Fu Huan’s turn to clean the dorm. After breakfast, he went to the door with a mop and casually glanced at Gu Shiying, who saw the ugly guy photos on his phone.
Fu Huan’s voice dropped slightly, “Gu Shiying, move your chair. I’m sweeping the floor.”
“Oh, oh, oh.” Gu Shiying stood up to make room for Fu Huan, his eyes still fixed on his phone, scrolling through the comments with one hand.
Shitou’s inner self was completely different from his sunny and gentle persona; he had a dark side.
Gu Shiying found Yang Shuheng’s secrets among the band’s followers. As his roommate, he had never followed his roommate’s personal account.
He clicked on it and found that Yang Shuheng’s videos mostly documented the band’s internal life, not much of the school. However, among these videos, Shitou appeared quite frequently, and there were many comments supporting the pairing.
Yang Shuheng finally woke up and saw the breakfast Gu Shiying had brought back. He happily rushed over to hug him, but was stopped by Fu Huan, who was holding a mop.
Fu Huan: “I’m mopping the floor.”
Yang Shuheng: “Sorry.” He spoke to Gu Shiying through Fu Huan. “Ying’er, I’ll transfer the breakfast money to you.”
Gu Shiying switched from TikTok to WeChat: “I’ve posted it in the group, just forward it to me.”
After their trip last night, the four men in Room 504 had become even closer.
However, that wasn’t Gu Shiying’s main concern.
After Fu Huan finished mopping the floor and walked out onto the balcony, he moved his chair over to Yang Shuheng and inquired about his relationship with Shitou.
Gu Shiying: “Are you very close to Shitou?”
Yang Shuheng had rarely mentioned his teammates before, but now that he finally had the chance to chat, he opened up.
“He’s pretty good. He takes good care of me.”
Gu Shiying: “How did you join this band?”
Yang Shuheng: “I first met Shitou, our lead singer. He was a resident singer at a local bar. Later, he came here, and my background was right on par with his, so I got to know him again. His former band’s guitarist signed with a label and debuted as an idol, so he asked me to join their band.”
Gu Shiying: “So you and Shitou and the others started playing together after you joined the band?”
“Yeah.” Yang Shuheng chewed on his tongue. Baozi nodded. “I came here right after the college entrance exam, probably even earlier than you guys. Brother Shitou saw I was unfamiliar with the place, so he took me out to play and introduced me to new friends.”
Gu Shiying: “So, do you have a better relationship with the lead singer or Brother Shitou?”
Yang Shuheng: “They’re both equally good. Brother Side and Brother Shitou are more like older brothers, very caring. But Brother Side is more focused on songwriting. He’s either writing songs or lyrics. He’s very talented.”
Fu Huan cleaned the mop and returned to mop for a second time.
He poked the mop at Gu Shiying’s feet: “Gu Shiying, move over here.”
“Oh.” Gu Shiying glanced at him and returned to his desk with his chair.
This interrupted Yang Shuheng’s passionate chat with Gu Shiying. Just then, someone contacted him on WeChat, so he resumed chatting.
Gu Shiying understood. The band’s lead singer was a careerist, eager to see the band thrive. Meanwhile, Shitou possessed a mastery of social skills, leading Yang Shuheng to lean emotionally towards Shitou.
Since that was the case, he couldn’t simply tell Yang Shuheng to be wary of Shitou. He had to think of a solution.
He browsed through his friends and saw a classmate had posted a tarot deck on WeChat Moments.
Got it.
Before noon, Gu Shiying went to the library and returned with a new deck.
He spent the entire afternoon studying online strategies and successfully attracted his target, Yang Shuheng.
Yang Shuheng also warmed up to him and addressed him as Zhang Zhi: “Ying’er, tell me your fortune.”
Gu Shiying thought he’d taken the bait: “Okay, what do you want to tell me? Career, love, family?”
Yang Shuheng: “Of course, career. A man’s job is to work!”
Gu Shiying formally shuffled the cards twice and then asked Yang Shuheng to draw.
Yang Shuheng randomly drew a card: “What’s this?”
Gu Shiying: “The One of Pentacles, representing friendship. Some of your close friends may come into conflict with you and act meanly towards you. You should be careful lately.”
Yang Shuheng thought for a moment and handed the card back to Gu Shiying: “Really?” He was completely unconvinced. “Draw another one.”
Gu Shiying gave the same answer. This was a custom-made “pig-killing” scheme for him; no matter which card he drew, the outcome would be the same!
Fu Huan and Liang Qi went out for a while, and when they returned, they found him and Yang Shuheng studying tarot cards. Yang Shuheng was clearly upset by the result and had given up.
Fu Huan lazily perched on the railing beside Gu Shiying’s bed and looked at him: “Read it for me too?”
Gu Shiying raised an eyebrow: “Okay, draw one. What do you want to read?”
Fu Huan said firmly: “Love.”
Gu Shiying chuckled inwardly. I’ve been waiting for you, you love-brained person.
He shuffled the cards and placed them on the table, allowing Fu Huan to draw.
As Fu Huan reached out to draw a card, his fingertips brushed against the back of Gu Shiying’s hand, which was resting on the table.
[Can tarot cards tell if Gu Shiying will become gay?]
Gu Shiying gritted his teeth inwardly: “…”
You dared him to become gay? How infuriating!
He, Gu Shiying, would never become gay. Absolutely not.
