Chapter 14: “Shura Field” has been rumored, don’t let it go to waste! …
Gu Shiying rubbed his tongue, picked up his phone, turned around, and tried to calm his volatile temper, then smiled at Yang Shuheng.
“I found my phone.”
He immediately stood up and sat down at Yang Shuheng’s table. He’d suffocate if he stayed with Fu Huan for even a second longer.
What kind of shameless person is Fu Huan? He wears a face that looks as if he’s leaving this world, but his heart is filled with lust.
Liang Qi also pulled a phone from another box: “We found it too.”
Then he charged the old phone, searched for chat logs, and saved videos and screenshots of the key chats. Guan Yu would then organize all the information according to a timeline and link it to the performance. Finally, he had a well-founded case.
This was the leverage Yang Shuheng had to communicate with them. Once he sent this PDF of over a hundred pages, the band was essentially finished.
Although Yang Shuheng had to resolve the matter himself, Gu Shiying also saw that his roommates were no pushovers. Guan Yu was a talented person. A sophomore law student, he had already developed his own logic and even had the ability to defend himself in court.
Gu Shiying looked at the densely packed, rigorously written PDF and praised him profusely, “Brother Guan, you’re amazing.”
Guan Yu calmly pushed his glasses up on his nose. “It’s just basic law student stuff, not worth mentioning.”
Yang Shuheng, holding Guan Yu’s neck, was once again moved by his roommates. “Brother Guan, what would I do without you?”
Liang Qi interrupted their compliments: “What’s next?”
After the video of the fight was released, Yang Shuheng listened to their advice and didn’t immediately confront his former teammates. However, this was the first time Yang Shuheng had encountered such a situation, and he actually relied on Gu Shiying more.
Throughout the entire process, Gu Shiying was the one who pointed out any issues his teammates had with him and helped him analyze what was inappropriate.
“Ying’er, what do you think we should do next?”
Gu Shiying had an idea: “It’s simple. Strike the snake at its weakest point. Start where they care most. Didn’t you say they’d sign with an agency and take on formal commercial performances like music festivals?”
In fact, they could all see that Yang Shuheng was a completely different character from his teammates. One had a completely idol-like look, and he was a music student. The others were all rough in their own ways, far less polished than Yang Shuheng, and completely different from them.
This showed that the lead singer’s initial approach to Yang Shuheng was a temporary measure, capitalizing on his generosity. They would then kick him out once they had overcome their difficulties. Yang Shuheng had never been acknowledged by them, and had never been integrated into their band.
Yang Shuheng: “That’s right.”
Gu Shiying: “Have the partners contacted you?”
Yang Shuheng: “They approached me privately and asked if I’d sign with the company. I was thinking we should all sign together, so I didn’t agree.”
Gu Shiying: “You can use this to threaten them and get back what they owe you.”
Yang Shuheng: “Is that okay?”
Gu Shiying: “I don’t know much about the entertainment industry, but if there’s gossip, this band will be in tatters at any moment. Otherwise, why would they let you leave the band with a tainted reputation instead of talking to you calmly? Maybe they’re afraid you’ll bring up the past once they become famous. But that’s just my guess.”
Gu Shiying didn’t know why they didn’t do that. They could have negotiated properly, but they weren’t willing to pursue a win-win situation.
Guan Yu also felt sorry for Yang Shuheng: “They were pretty ruthless to you.”
Liang Qi: “If it were you, I’d just beat them up secretly to vent my anger.”
Guan Yu: “You can’t do that. There are surveillance cameras everywhere now, so it’s hard not to be caught on camera. It would be disadvantageous to Yang Shuheng.”
Liang Qi: “It’s just a secret deal. Find a locker room, put on a sack, beat them up, and run.”
Gu Shiying: “You look very experienced.”
Liang Qi glanced mischievously at Fu Huan, whose gaze had been following Gu Shiying. Upon being discovered, Fu Huan gave him a cold warning.
Liang Qi laughed: “I’m kidding.”
Gu Shiying: “Okay, let’s continue.”
They finally came up with a plan, and Yang Shuheng agreed it was feasible.
Many people knew about Yang Shuheng’s joining the band. He was usually lively and had many friends, and after the incident escalated, people kept showing concern for him.
Dorm 504 was never quiet for a single day.
That evening, Yang Shuheng sent the evidence his roommate had helped him collect to the lead singer. The two had their first phone call since the incident, with the conversation on loudspeaker, and Guan Yu recording.
Yang Shuheng: “Brother Side, I don’t understand why you’re targeting me. Is there something you can’t say publicly? Why did you have to go to this extent?”
Lead singer: “We weren’t forced to do this. We were just forced by circumstances.”
Yang Shuheng: “No matter what, you were using me from the beginning, weren’t you? You guys were new here, broke, and living in the basement. The so-called band funds were actually just to improve your quality of life. Now, you want to ascend, and you’re kicking me out.”
It was Brother Shitou who responded: “Yes, that’s exactly what you think, Yang Shuheng. You’re too much of a master. We can only coax you. We’re not your servants. What’s the problem?”
Yang Shuheng’s face paled at this, and his heart sank. They’d had dinner together last night, and Brother Shitou had taken the initiative to liven things up, trying to make things more interesting. But now he was saying he was just trying to coax him. How ridiculous.
Gu Shiying watched Yang Shuheng’s shift from feigning composure to near tears of rage. He couldn’t bear to hear any of this, so he spoke up for Yang Shuheng.
He had no feelings for these people: “Those who exploit others and spend their money have no right to be picky. I’ve never seen anyone so shameless.”
Brother Shitou: “Oh, it’s you, Mr. Gu. You’re being a bit harsh.”
Gu Shiying: “I don’t know you well. My friend has already sent the bill. Let’s be fair. The performance fees will be paid, and the meal expenses will be reimbursed. There’s nothing else to say. You don’t deserve it.”
Bassist: “But he voluntarily paid for it. Why should we pay for it?”
Gu Shiying: “You feel good about taking advantage of the rich second generation, don’t you? He doesn’t smoke. Does he have to go to the supermarket to buy cigarettes for you? I’ve seen shameless people, but I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as you.”
The bassist fell silent, because that was the truth.
He continued, “Oh, by the way, we have a lot of interesting videos here. We can release them if you want. Let’s die together. Men like us, whom you look down upon, are capable of anything. After all, our Ah Heng is really just a man.”
Gu Shiying responded one by one, leaving the other party speechless.
After all, he was the one who was cursing. Even if the other party recorded the conversation, it would be useless. If Yang Shuheng became famous one day, the recording would be useless.
Gu Shiying didn’t hear the other party’s response and winked at Guan Yu.
Guan Yu cleared his throat and lowered his voice, continuing, “I’m Yang Shuheng’s attorney. I’ll be personally liaising with you on the next steps, whether to settle privately or through legal proceedings.”
After a long silence, the lead singer spoke up and said, “We’ve chosen to settle privately. The performance proceeds, along with the band expenses Xiaoheng previously advanced, will be transferred to him tomorrow.”
Gu Shiying and Guan Yu high-fived each other, concluding the matter on behalf of the speechless Yang Shuheng. The collaboration had been effective, surprisingly easier than they’d imagined.
Gu Shiying patted Yang Shuheng gently, “By the way, you still owe Yang Shuheng an apology.”
Silence fell on the other end.
The lead singer, perhaps genuinely feeling sorry for Yang Shuheng, whispered, “Sorry, Xiaoheng.”
In the end, it was Yang Shuheng who hung up. He could never forgive these people.
At this point, the damage had been done, and whether or not an apology was offered was irrelevant.
Guan Yu shook his head. “They’re really getting away with it. A bunch of weak, irresponsible trash.”
Gu Shiying: “I agree.”
Gurgle~
Whose stomach growled first?
Gu Shiying rubbed his stomach. “Damn, we haven’t had dinner yet.”
Yang Shuheng waved his hand, a relieved smile finally breaking across his face. “It’s my treat tonight. Order whatever you want!”
Guan Yu rubbed his hands eagerly. “Then I’d like some Quzhou cuisine. I love their braised duck head. It’s fragrant and spicy. And a bottle of iced Coke. So refreshing.”
Yang Shuheng: “I know that place. I heard their signature hookfish is delicious, too. Brother Huan, what do you think?”
Fu Huan: “Anything’s fine.”
Liang Qi glanced at Fu Huan again and winked at him again. “I’m not picky.”
Yang Shuheng: “Let’s go!”
As they were going downstairs, Fu Huan took advantage of the moment when the others weren’t paying attention and kicked Liang Qi.
Liang Qi: “What are you doing?”
Fu Huan warned him, “Don’t talk nonsense later.”
Liang Qi made a zipper motion around his mouth: “I’ll shut up, okay? But then again, don’t you never eat fish?”
Fu Huan put his thumbs in his pockets and gave him a cold look: “I told you to stop talking nonsense.”
Liang Qi laughed: “No, I’ll have to see you make a fool of yourself.”
Fu Huan gave him a back turn and strode behind Gu Shiying like a guardian angel.
Just then, Yang Shuheng suddenly called out to someone approaching from the corner.
“Zhang Zhi!”
Gu Shiying couldn’t tell people apart at night: “Zhang Zhi?”
Zhang Zhi walked towards them, accompanied by a girl standing next to him. It was Liu Wenjing.
Zhang Zhi asked them cheerfully, his face unable to conceal his joy.
“Ying’er, where are you going?”
Gu Shiying was speechless when he saw who Zhang Zhi was walking with. Hadn’t they agreed not to be lapdogs? Why are you with Liu Wenqing again?
Gu Shiying explained, “We’re going to dinner.”
Yang Shuheng: “It’s my treat tonight. Have you eaten yet?”
Liu Wenqing’s eyes brightened when she saw Fu Huan, standing there among them.
She distanced herself from Zhang Zhi and explained, “We just finished a club activity and were on our way to dinner.”
Yang Shuheng was unaware of the love-hate relationship between Zhang Zhi, Liu Wenqing, Fu Huan, and Gu Shiying. He believed the more people around, the better he proved himself, so he directly invited Zhang Zhi and Liu Wenqing to join him.
“Let’s go, let’s go. Let’s go eat Quzhou cuisine. It’s more fun with more people!”
Liu Wenqing was generous and proactive: “Thank you. I’ll obey.”
Zhang Zhi was delighted to see Liu Wenqing agreed and said cheerfully, “No problem!”
The boss had requested a large round table for them, perfect for the seven of them.
Yang Shuheng was currently quite dependent on Gu Shiying, so he simply pulled him to sit next to him.
Fu Huan took the seat on Gu Shiying’s other side, while Liu Wenqing pretended to sit next to him, and Zhang Zhi followed suit.
Gu Shiying deliberately suppressed his smile, feigning an expression of discomfort and forbearance.
He lowered his head and deliberately picked at his fingers on the table, feigning nervousness and anxiety, afraid Fu Huan wouldn’t notice, as he worked hard to spread rumors about himself.
Rumors have already been spread, don’t let them go unrewarded!
