Chapter 27: If you can’t keep it a secret, I’ll sew your mouth shut if you mention marriage again!
Regarding Grandma Lin’s chili sauce recipe, the other party offered two options: a buyout contract, which was easy to understand; the other was a profit-sharing system, meaning she would receive a certain percentage of the profit based on the chili sauce sales per year.
Gu Shiying had researched the company’s products and thought a profit-sharing system would be a good option, potentially helping Guoguo’s future. However, since Guoguo wouldn’t participate in the company’s operations, he was worried about rigged operations and missing out on future profits, which was a dilemma. Grandma Lin didn’t understand and asked Gu Shiying what to do.
Both options had their pros and cons.
Gu Shiying couldn’t make the decision for Grandma Lin, but he could consult Guan Yu. He studied law and could help with the contract. After all, he was a top student, so it was a good idea to use his connections.
Guan Yu had indeed studied very well. After reviewing the contract, he concluded that there were no issues with the other party’s agreement, that it would guarantee the basic interests of both parties, and that it would, overall, benefit Grandma Lin.
Gu Shiying then showed it to Fu Huan, who feigned a few glances and told Gu Shiying that he thought it was okay.
On Wednesday afternoon, Gu Shiying left class a little early and met Assistant Hu at the school gate. He had also asked Guan Yu to help with the on-site review. He had originally wanted to ask Fu Huan, but Fu Huan had an elective class that evening and couldn’t go along.
“Hello, is this Mr. Gu?”
“Yes, Mr. Hu.”
Assistant Hu represented his own company, so Gu Shiying naturally addressed him as Mr. X. Assistant Hu wore a professional smile. As a sophomore still entering the workforce, Gu Shiying initially found him quite approachable.
Assistant Hu didn’t engage in the overly formal handshakes typical of adults, so Gu Shiying didn’t get the chance to hear his thoughts. However, this also indirectly demonstrates that this person is principled and logical, and knows how to be measured. Perhaps it’s because he speaks the truth to different people, and practiced it the way he wanted.
The two of them got into Assistant Hu’s car and headed for Grandma Lin’s house.
Gu Shiying hadn’t seen Guoguo for a few days, so he brought him a puzzle. Guoguo really loved it and sat down on the mat to start working on it.
Grandma Lin was also experienced, and she asked community members to come and witness it.
Because she didn’t know the other party’s company well, she still chose the buyout option. Her intention was clear: to leave the money for Guoguo’s future use.
Community staff were also there, and they recorded a video to witness the situation.
Everything went smoothly.
Before Gu Shiying and Guan Yu left, Grandma Lin gave them red envelopes.
Grandma Lin: “You and Xiaofu have been really hard at work lately.”
Gu Shiying: “It’s okay, it’s nothing. Grandma, we’re going home.”
Grandma Lin held Gu Shiying again: “This is a red envelope for Xiaofu. Please take it back for him.”
Gu Shiying had no reason to refuse: “Okay.”
Manager Hu, having learned about Gu Shiying and his brother’s relationship from his boss, waited patiently to take them back to school.
Gu Shiying’s impression of the young CEO changed. He was no longer a shrewd office worker who said one thing to one person and another to another, but a truly kind person.
“Then I’ll take you here.”
Hu Yiyan also admired Gu Shiying and Guan Yu. One was kind-hearted and knew how to use his expertise to help others, and the other possessed a professional attitude. They were the beginnings of a future barrister.
He extended his hand to the two young people. “You’ll be juniors next year, right? If you have the chance, come and intern at our company.”
Guan Yu returned Hu Yiyan’s hand and shook it back. “I’ll definitely consider it.”
Hu Yiyan extended his hand to Gu Shiying, who returned it. He expected to hear a murmur of frustration about having to work overtime on weekends, but surprisingly, that wasn’t the case.
[Finally, I’ve accomplished Mr. Fu’s mission. I didn’t let Mr. Fu’s brother’s classmates know about the formula Mr. Fu purchased through his brother.]
Gu Shiying: …
Mr. Fu?
Mr. Fu’s brother?
Fu Huan?
Gu Shiying was a little unsteady. He wanted to ask something else, but this was Hu Yiyan’s immediate concern. Perhaps he really had to keep something secret.
So, the conclusion is that Fu Huan is Mr. Fu’s brother?
The formula sale was actually brokered by Fu Huan?
What kind of business is his family? They’re incredibly powerful.
Why didn’t Fu Huan just tell him directly? Was he trying to be like Lei Feng, doing good deeds without leaving a name behind? Are there still people these days who aren’t after fame or profit? What was he after?
Gu Shiying felt a mixture of emotions. He was after him.
How could Fu Huan be like this? He would get angry over a disagreement.
It was already past nine o’clock when they returned to school from Grandma Lin’s house. Hu Yiyan and the others weren’t that far apart, so naturally, they wouldn’t eat with them. This meant that Gu Shiying and Guan Yu hadn’t eaten yet.
Guan Yu: “I’m starving. Want to go to the cafeteria?”
Gu Shiying: “Go.”
He was a little overly hungry, but not completely, but he still had to eat.
Just as the two were about to head to the second cafeteria, Yang Shuheng video-called them on WeChat, asking if they wanted to go out for a late-night snack. He and Fu Huan both wanted a late-night snack.
Gu Shiying thought to himself, that Special Assistant Hu had been right. As soon as he left, Fu Huan knew they were back. It proved that he truly was Mr. Fu’s brother.
Dormitory 504 gathered at the East Gate.
Yang Shuheng was dressed stylishly today, with a colorful dyed hair.
He smoothed a few streaks of hair off his forehead. “How do you like my new look?”
Gu Shiying looked up and stroked his colorful hair. “It’s very unique, and quite smooth. It looks pretty. I want to dye my hair too.”
Guan Yu: “You’re standing shoulder to shoulder with the rainbow.”
Yang Shuheng: “Dye it!”
Fu Huan: “Gu Shiying, this dye doesn’t look good on you.”
Gu Shiying: “Why?”
Fu Huan looked at him seriously and stroked his soft hair. “It doesn’t suit you. Your hair is soft. Yang Shuheng is different. He’s an art student.”
Gu Shiying, still not forgiving Fu Huan for lying, pushed his hand away. “What’s the connection between having soft hair and being an art student?”
Fu Huan had been getting more and more brazen lately, occasionally making some skin contact with him, but it was always accidental.
Brothers touching each other was fine, but not Fu Huan!
Fu Huan: “I just feel it’s inappropriate. There’s no reason.”
Yang Shuheng said cheerfully, “Ying’er, just listen to Brother Huan’s advice. He has excellent taste.”
Gu Shiying: “…”
Forget it, let’s not discuss this.
They were going to Dongmen for barbecue, the same place they had last time.
It was just before ten o’clock, and the streets were bustling with people. The four of them split up and walked, Yang Shuheng and Guan Yu in front, Gu Shiying and Fu Huan behind.
He pulled the red envelope from Grandma Lin’s backpack and handed it to Fu Huan: “This is from Grandma Lin. She said she’s very grateful for your help.”
Fu Huan happily accepted it, tucking it into his pocket: “Yes.”
On the way to the barbecue stall, they also came across a fried rice stall that had reopened. The owner and his wife were very grateful for Gu Shiying and Fu Huan’s help last time, and they chased after them to give them a portion of freshly made fried rice and a few cups of ice-cold mung bean soup.
The proprietress shoved something into Gu Shiying’s arms. “Thank you for your help last time, little classmate. We have nothing special to offer you. Next time you come to eat here, it’s free!”
Gu Shiying shook his head quickly, a bit bewildered. “No, no, we didn’t do anything.”
The proprietress insisted, “Yes, yes!”
Gu Shiying couldn’t refuse, so he had to accept it. It was just a small meal, but the smell of fried rice made his empty stomach protest, and salivation began to form.
He was hungry.
Fu Huan saw him holding his hands and took a few cups of mung bean soup for him, sharing them with Yang Shuheng and Guan Yu, who were walking ahead.
A fragrant aroma wafted from the lunch box. The proprietress had filled it to the brim, and the golden rice grains were about to burst out.
Gu Shiying: “The fried rice is delicious. It’s so nice to be able to eat Boss Zhang’s fried rice without having to wait in line.”
Fu Huan: “You paid for it with your own safety.”
Gu Shiying said deliberately: “If we didn’t bring this up, we could still be roommates.”
Fu Huan glanced at him and said nothing, as if dissatisfied with their relationship.
Gu Shiying pretended not to notice. The more harsh his words were, the further Fu Huan distanced herself from him.
When they arrived at the barbecue restaurant, the other three were ordering. Gu Shiying asked the owner for chopsticks and shared the fried rice.
He had no intention of eating alone; everyone who saw him had a share.
As soon as they finished eating, Yang Shuheng and Guan Yu had already turned to conversation about Grandma Lin’s family.
Rich Man Yang spoke up: “Ying’er, why didn’t you tell us about such a big deal? I have money and can help.”
Gu Shiying advised Yang Shuheng: “Even if you have money, you can’t just give it away. Besides, Grandma Lin wouldn’t take it for granted.”
Guan Yu helped Yang Shuheng unpack the tableware: “Well, don’t tell anyone about your wealth. Every failure makes you wiser. Where’s your wisdom?”
Yang Shuheng scratched his hair uncomfortably: “I won’t do it again next time.”
In Gu Shiying’s eyes, Yang Shuheng was just an innocent child raised by his family, not a man with such serious thoughts. It’s no wonder he remained defenseless after being deceived.
Gu Shiying had an idea: “Why don’t I have my second brother keep an eye on you and make sure you don’t spend money recklessly?”
Guan Yu, Guan Yu, Second Brother Guan.
Guan Yu, suddenly given a nickname: “…I’m fine.”
Yang Shuheng: “But I won’t spend money recklessly.”
Gu Shiying and the other two were speechless.
Guan Yu explained: “When you want to spend money on someone you don’t care about, just come to me. I’ll help you decide if it’s okay to spend it on them.”
Yang Shuheng smiled and put his arm around Guan Yu’s neck: “Second brother, please take good care of me from now on.”
Guan Yu: “I don’t really like that name.”
Yang Shuheng: “Actually, in terms of age, you’re the second oldest in our dorm. I’m older than you. I’m February, and Ying’er is the youngest.”
Gu Shiying hadn’t really noticed this: “I’m the youngest?”
Guan Yu “April.”
Fu Huan: “July.”
Gu Shiying: “My birthday is at the end of the year, December. No, Yang Shuheng, you’re the oldest?”
Yang Shuheng wanted to pounce on him: “What? Brother, call me brother!”
“I won’t.” Gu Shiying blocked him from jumping on him, but he misjudged Yang Shuheng’s weight and fell to the side. Just as he tried to support himself with one hand, Fu Huan, who was sitting next to him, held his shoulders and waist, preventing him from falling flat on his face.
Fu Huan looked at Yang Shuheng: “Sit tight.”
Along with Fu Huan’s deep voice came a voice from his waist that reached Gu Shiying’s mind.
[That neck is so white, it must be kissable. I want to kiss it, I want to kiss it, I want to kiss it.]
Yang Shuheng smiled and sat down, leaving Gu Shiying alone to feel Fu Huan’s scorching heat through his clothes. He lost his balance and had to support himself on Fu Huan’s thigh to regain his balance.
Gu Shiying glared at Fu Huan’s white sneakers and stepped on them, leaving a black mark on the pristine surface.
Speak of marriage again and I’ll sew your mouth shut!
Fu Huan: “…”
