Chapter 30: A Special Way of Showing Attention. He seemed a bit used to it, almost…
Gu Shiying would never have guessed that Fu Huan’s sudden change in mood was actually caused by his own imagination, driving him into depression. He didn’t even have a partner now, so who could he marry?
Besides, it was uncertain whether he would ever get married.
The waiter then brought two fruit plates.
Gu Shiying didn’t know why he suddenly became emo.
Thinking of Fu Huan buying him milk tea with a small cake, he couldn’t bring himself to care.
Gu Shiying: “Want some watermelon? I’ll get it.”
Without waiting for Fu Huan to reply, Gu Shiying stood up and grabbed two pieces of watermelon. Fu Huan dropped the beer bottle he was holding and watched Gu Shiying get the watermelon and then handed it to him.
Gu Shiying stood there, shielding Fu Huan from the dazzling, multicolored lights on the ceiling. At that moment, Fu Huan had eyes only for Gu Shiying, and the deafening howling seemed to pause for a moment.
“Don’t you want to eat?”
“Yes.”
The bite-sized watermelon cured Fu Huan of two days of melancholy. He nibbled carefully for several seconds before finishing the thinly sliced, triangular piece.
Fu Huan wondered if Gu Shiying had noticed his mood, and if he could push him a little further, ask for something.
He tentatively said, “I think I’m a little tipsy. Could you get me another piece of watermelon?”
Gu Shiying: “Sure.”
He stood up and took two more pieces: one for Fu Huan and one for himself.
Then Fu Huan asked for a third.
Gu Shiying turned and glared at him. “Can you tell me all at once? How many pieces do you want to eat? Standing up, sitting down, standing up, sitting down again—those two movements are exhausting.”
Gu Shiying had soothed Fu Huan’s slight emotion. He didn’t smile, but his eyes were much clearer.
He stood up: “Then I’ll get them.”
Gu Shiying was no longer as polite as before: “Give me some boiled peanuts. I just tried one, and it’s quite delicious.”
Fu Huan: “Hmm.”
Gu Shiying saw that he walked steadily and steadily. He didn’t look drunk at all. It was clearly just an excuse. He knew what he was thinking without even hearing what he was thinking. It was a way of coaxing him.
How could someone be so easily coaxed? Could he really be in love with him to the extreme?
The more Gu Shiying realized that Fu Huan’s love for him was pure and simple, the deeper his frown deepened. He couldn’t continue like this.
Fu Huan took the watermelon and sat back next to him. He even deliberately closed the distance between them, just an inch closer, and their arms would have been touching.
But Gu Shiying’s next words were the final blow to Fu Huan.
He was curious: “Where’s that art department hunk who came to see you the other day? Why isn’t he here? Isn’t he your friend?”
Fu Huan paused: “I don’t know him well.”
Gu Shiying: “But he treated you to dinner.”
Fu Huan: “I didn’t eat with him.”
Gu Shiying: “Huh?”
Fu Huan: “I don’t have to eat with everyone who treats me to dinner.”
Gu Shiying couldn’t explain the feeling. He should have been disappointed, but he didn’t seem to feel that way.
He winked at Fu Huan: “Why not, hunk?”
Fu Huan didn’t deny that Lin Zijing was the hunk. He looked directly into Gu Shiying’s eyes, as if trying to read his heart.
“So what? I don’t like him.”
Gu Shiying: “Even the department hunk doesn’t like him, so what kind do you like?”
Fu Huan suddenly asked Gu Shiying, “Aren’t you surprised that I like men?”
He reacted quickly. Only someone who knew he liked men would ask this question, but Gu Shiying skipped over the fact that he liked men, indicating that he was aware of his sexual orientation.
Gu Shiying was stunned by the question. He had known Fu Huan was gay for a while, and his mind had simply assumed he was gay. For a moment, he forgot to pretend, and the truth was revealed.
He cleared his throat. “Yes, Ah Heng said so. He guessed it from meeting so many people.”
Fu Huan tilted his head towards him, a strange glint in his eyes. “Do you mind that your roommate is gay?”
Gu Shiying felt the pressure from Fu Huan, but he was also a man, so why would he be overwhelmed by his aura? He stood firm and didn’t retreat.
He was enveloped by Fu Huan’s presence, and he looked up and stared directly at him. “I don’t discriminate against gays or lesbians.”
Fu Huan: “Then will you hate me?”
Gu Shiying wondered if the question was a bit too much, even too intimate. He knew why Fu Huan asked, and he knew exactly how to answer.
“You’re my roommate, why would I hate you?” He put the word “roommate” before “roommate.” “This question is a duplicate of the previous one.”
“No,” Fu Huan stepped back a little. The first question was about the group, the second about him as an individual. “But we are indeed roommates,” he said self-deprecatingly.
Gu Shiying felt uneasy at his gaze. Ever since he’d made his sexual orientation known, he’d noticed that Fu Huan’s gaze had become even more explicit. To say it wasn’t scary would be a lie; he had no experience dealing with such situations before.
Admittedly, Gu Shiying had no shortage of female admirers, both in high school and college, but even the boldest girls were reserved, and he would always reject them in a tactful and non-awkward way.
But Fu Huan was different; he was a man.
In the dim light, Fu Huan was like a lion poised for action. He would fixate on Gu Shiying in the darkness, the way he observes his prey, seemingly unable to escape him no matter where he fled.
Gu Shiying felt a little regretful about telling him he knew his sexual orientation. His answer wouldn’t have given him the wrong impression; it was just the standard roommate response.
He shamelessly used the excuse of having too much to drink to go to the restroom.
The restroom in the private room was occupied, so he went outside and, with the waiter’s instructions, circled around before finally finding it.
On the way there, he even told his two other roommates in the “Straight Men” group.
Ying Caishen: Brother Huan admits he’s gay!
Little Lamb: Wow, is Brother Huan a 1 or a 0?
Gulangyu: Isn’t that too personal?
Little Lamb: I get it. Brother Huan’s aura must be a 1.
Ying Caishen: You know so much.
Little Lamb: “Brother, I’m going to be in the entertainment industry someday, so of course I need to know more.”
Gu Shiying finished his briefing and went to the restroom.
When he came out, he couldn’t quite remember the direction he’d come from.
The lights in the KTV were dim, even the walls were black. The streets stretched in all directions, but it was so dark that he could only see the door numbers and had no idea how the numbers were arranged. This was the small and medium-sized area, and there wasn’t a single waiter in sight.
It was a bit scary.
Gu Shiying only remembered the direction he’d come from, but he was confused by the several intersections. After walking for a while, he heard movement up ahead and headed in.
After taking two steps, a man in a dark shirt, reeking of alcohol and swaying, suddenly rushed out from the side corridor.
He staggered and bumped into Gu Shiying, nearly losing his balance as he took most of his weight.
Gu Shiying grabbed him in time, thinking he was a drunk. Just as he was about to push him away, he heard the man’s inner voice echoing through his head.
It was terrifying.
[Someone’s drugged my drink! Help me, help me, help me!]
Gu Shiying was so close to the man that he could hear his unusually heavy breathing and an unnatural flush on his face.
The man clung almost helplessly to Gu Shiying.
“Hey, are you okay?”
The man only hummed and groaned in response, unable to articulate a clear response.
“Hurry, let’s go…”
Gu Shiying decided to help him leave first. Being drugged was a new experience for a college student still fresh in the world.
The last time someone drugged fried rice, it could be understood as vicious commercial competition, but the drug the man had been given was definitely not something serious.
How can there be all kinds of people in this society? It’s so evil!
“Do you want me to call the police for you?”
The man didn’t respond, simply leaning against Gu Shiying uncomfortably.
Calling the police was necessary, but Gu Shiying had just pocketed his phone, and with two hands supporting him, he couldn’t get it out.
He decided to return to their private room first. He’d feel safer discussing things with his classmates.
Just as he was about to help the man leave, two men rushed over from the end of the hallway.
“He’s there!”
“Hurry up, chase him! Don’t let him get away.”
The two men rushed over to Gu Shiying and the young man, ready to grab the young man without even saying hello.
Gu Shiying: “Who are you?”
The two men looked like businessmen, one in a basic white shirt and trousers, the other in a full three-piece suit. They looked respectable, but it couldn’t hide the filth and rancidity within them.
“We’re his friends. He’s drunk. Please, just hand him over to us.”
Gu Shiying was no pushover. He absolutely wouldn’t send someone screaming for help. Who knew what they might do?
“How can you prove you’re his friend?”
The man, observing Gu Shiying’s still youthful, student-like face, maintained a facade.
The man in a suit smiled and said, “Handsome boy, I’m his boyfriend. When he gets drunk, he acts like a jerk and talks nonsense. Please, hand him over to me.”
Gu Shiying was holding the man’s arm. He couldn’t speak, but that didn’t stop him from hearing what he was trying to say; he was conscious.
[I don’t know them. I’ve been tricked. Help me…]
Gu Shiying insisted, “I don’t believe it. If you come any closer, I’ll call the police.”
Seeing Gu Shiying’s assurance, the man looked around and saw no one around, then stepped forward to grab the man.
“He came to the KTV with us. There’s surveillance footage. Handsome boy, why don’t you join us for a couple of drinks?”
Gu Shiying scowled. “Move aside! He’s my friend. Don’t think I don’t know what you did!”
The two exchanged glances.
The man in the suit said, “Handsome boy, you can eat whatever you want, but don’t say anything you want.”
The man in the white shirt immediately grabbed the man.
Gu Shiying, of course, grabbed the man tightly. As a college student, he naturally called for help!
“What are you doing!”
“Help! Help!”
“There’s a pervert!”
However, the KTV private room wasn’t very soundproof, and despite the howling outside, it wasn’t much quiet either.
What was annoying was that no waiter had come down the hallway, and the KTV security hadn’t done anything to stop the incident.
The man in the shirt: “What’s the point of yelling? No one will hear you. Give him to me!”
The man in the suit: “Don’t bother with him. Take He Zexuan away.”
He grabbed Gu Shiying, while the man in the shirt grabbed the man under the armpits and started to pull him away.
Gu Shiying kicked the man in the suit’s shin: “Let go! I’m telling you, I have a dozen friends in the private room. If you dare touch me, just try!”
The man in the suit, in pain, threatened: “Stop bragging to me.”
The man in the shirt’s thoughts were even more disgusting: “Brother Xia, this guy looks good. Why don’t we take him with us? We can get a good price. The surveillance here is broken, so no one will notice.”
The man in the suit: “Okay, buy one get one free.”
Gu Shiying’s mind rang with alarm. He let go of the man and took out his phone. Fu Huan, who happened to see the screen, called him.
He scrambled away in a panic. Before the man in the suit could slap his phone away, he shouted fiercely, “Fu Huan, someone’s trying to take me away! Get them arrested!”
Fu Huan on the other end sneered, “Then he’s dead.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Fu Huan’s tall figure approached from around the corner, followed by Zhang Zhi and Liang Qi.
The three men’s imposing presence successfully brought panic to the faces of the man in the suit and the man in the shirt.
The man in the shirt let go of He Zexuan, throwing him to the ground and preparing to run.
Zhang Zhi and Liang Qi immediately gave chase. The man in the suit also tried to run, but Gu Shiying’s previous kick was too strong, and he was a step slower. Gu Shiying followed up with another kick, hitting him in the buttocks. The man in the suit stumbled and bumped into the door handle of the private room beside him.
Fu Huan stepped forward, grabbed the man in the suit by the crooked tie around his neck, and lifted him up like a chicken.
His eyes shone with icy rage: “You want to take my people away?”
The man in the suit wasn’t afraid when Gu Shiying threatened him, and even harbored evil intentions. But the look from the young man before him made his legs go weak.
“I didn’t, I didn’t!”
Fu Huan punched the suave villain in the face.
The only sound in the corridor was the man in the suit’s screams.
Gu Shiying, fearing he’d beat him to death, grabbed his arm and said, “I just kicked him twice. Take it easy.”
Fu Huan threw the man to the ground and, as usual, stamped on his face. The man in the suit groaned in pain and curled up into a ball.
He turned to look at Gu Shiying, one hand gripping his shoulder and the other holding his wrist, looking him up and down, his eyes filled with tenderness.
“Are you okay?”
[If only Gu Shiying could be locked up at home, so he wouldn’t be in danger.] 】
Gu Shiying hesitated for a second before shaking her head and biting her cheek. “…It’s okay.”
Fu Huan’s concern was truly disorienting.
But he seemed somewhat accustomed to it, hardly getting angry.
Oh my!

In fact, Yingbao was already moved and accustomed to it. To put it bluntly, it was love.
