Chapter 9: Making People Irritable. Tsk, can’t this hand just be held by his second brother…
After getting in the car, Gu Shiying quickly buttoned his collar, not giving Fu Huan any chance to harbor any illusions about him!
Guan Yu was a man of unwavering integrity, a man of unwavering dedication. Fu Huan had become trapped, listening to Guan Yu’s instructions the entire time.
Guan Yu: “Turn right at the next intersection.”
Guan Yu: “Red light, red light, there’s a pedestrian ahead, don’t run a red light.”
Guan Yu: “Fu Huan, a yellow light is dangerous too, don’t run it!”
Fu Huan’s sun pounded: “No need for navigation.”
Guan Yu: “Didn’t you tell us to use the navigation?”
Fu Huan: “Not now, I know this road.”
Guan Yu: “Okay, I’ll turn it off then.”
Gu Shiying, sitting in the back seat, lowered his head and pursed his lips, suppressing his pleasure. The frustration he’d been holding back for days was finally released.
Finally, he found a way to punish Fu Huan. Since he could hear inner thoughts, he’d discovered the rules and exploited them. Inner thoughts were Fu Huan’s loopholes. As long as he could properly avoid them, he’d surely dispel Fu Huan’s affection for him.
Seeing Fu Huan frustrated was satisfying for him; otherwise, he’d be the one feeling frustrated.
Hmph, I’ll teach you how to touch my hand.
As planned, the three of them found a nearby restaurant. The area was bustling, so the weekend crowds were huge. By the time they finished queuing at the noodle shop and finished their meal, it was almost seven o’clock.
This noodle shop was recommended by Yang Shuheng, who told Gu Shiying that the food was okay. He really didn’t like noodles, but he didn’t want to spoil the fun, so he only ate half of his bowl.
It was almost time to get in; Yang Shuheng’s live house performance was in the mall on the same floor as the noodle shop.
While waiting for the elevator, Fu Huan said he was going to have a cigarette and let them go up first.
Gu Shiying and Guan Yu were both visiting a livehouse for the first time, and they excitedly lined up to enter.
This place was supposed to be a bar, but unlike a real one, it focused more on developing bands, with different bands performing on different dates. Tickets were required to see popular bands.
The lead singer of Yang Shuheng’s band was a bit well-known on social media, and many online fans flocked to the venue.
When they walked in, they found the interior comfortable, with booths and regular seats. They could order a drink and chat with friends while listening to music. There was also a dedicated area for fans, allowing them to get up close and personal with the musicians.
Gu Shiying and the other two had fan tickets, and their seats were near the back. They were there to support the musicians, and there were cheering sticks on their seats.
Having seen pigs run before eating pork, Gu Shiying picked up the cheering stick and started playing with it.
Gu Shiying and Guan Yu said, “Isn’t this just a mini-concert?”
Guan Yu: “Yeah, it’s quite lively. There’s even a cheering sign and band materials at the door.”
Gu Shiying: “I just saw that.”
Guan Yu: “Yang Shuheng is going to be famous.”
Gu Shiying nodded vigorously: “Let’s print a thousand personal photos of him, have him sign them, and sell them when he becomes famous.”
Guan Yu nodded seriously, considering the feasibility of this idea: “That makes sense. I’ll start collecting his photos and videos tomorrow.”
While the two were daydreaming, Fu Huan returned and sat down next to Gu Shiying.
Gu Shiying asked him, “Are you here?”
Fu Huan nodded, his expression unchanged from his usual indifferent demeanor.
The three of them sat slightly to the right of the center stage. They sat at a long table with a row of benches below. The seat backs were labeled with corresponding seat cushions.
While waiting for the show to begin, a large man, weighing about 200 pounds, sat down next to Fu Huan. He plopped down, pushing Fu Huan towards Gu Shiying.
To avoid him, Fu Huan leaned towards Gu Shiying. He didn’t bump into him, but he did place his hand on Gu Shiying’s waist.
Gu Shiying’s initial reaction was that their skin didn’t touch. But the moment Fu Huan leaned in, he could smell the faint scent of cigarette smoke—not strong, but only noticeable up close. He was too close, so he instinctively dodged.
Gu Shiying tensed, yet he feigned composure. “What’s wrong?”
Fu Huan: “The seat isn’t wide enough.”
Gu Shiying steadied himself and slid a little closer to Guan Yu, making room for Fu Huan. Only then did Fu Huan move closer.
Although Fu Huan harbored deep feelings for Gu Shiying, he maintained a healthy distance, not crossing the line.
Fu Huan opened his phone, tapped the shop’s mini-app, and handed it to Gu Shiying: “Anything you want to eat? I’ll order.”
Gu Shiying: “Didn’t you just eat?”
Fu Huan: “Not full.”
Gu Shiying whispered to him, “The drinks and snacks and fruit here are so expensive.” Even the average male would feel a pang of pain just looking at it.
A fruit and snack combo set cost 399 yuan, and that didn’t even include a drink.
Fu Huan: “I made 200 yuan from my part-time job yesterday.”
Gu Shiying knew he was talking about transferring his 200 yuan.
Gu Shiying: “You’re really willing to spend a few hundred yuan.”
Fu Huan: “Next time you need a part-time job, come back to me.”
Gu Shiying: “So I have to split the money with you for a small part-time job.”
Fu Huan: “Well, I’ll volunteer next time.”
Gu Shiying didn’t dare say anything more. He didn’t want anything to do with Fu Huan anymore. He was determined to distance himself from him!
Fu Huan asked Guan Yu what he wanted to drink. Guan Yu glanced at the price and ordered a relatively inexpensive glass of sparkling water. Gu Shiying followed suit.
A short while later, the waiter brought a fruit and snack set. The presentation was exquisite and the taste was quite good, though Gu Shiying felt like he was eating gold. He had to swirl the cantaloupe chunks around in his mouth twice before chewing and swallowing them.
At 7:30 sharp, the fans in the first few rows burst into screams.
Today’s main band took the stage.
The band consisted of five people: a lead singer, guitarist, bassist, drummer, and keyboardist. Yang Shuheng played guitar quite well.
As their roommate, Gu Shiying knew that Yang Shuheng played many instruments, guitar being just one of them.
Gu Shiying waved broadly toward Yang Shuheng on the stage, and he smiled in their direction.
The performances continued one after another, featuring their own compositions and pop covers, and the interaction between the stage and the audience was quite lively.
The lead singer was not only handsome but also sang beautifully. Gu Shiying had a very positive experience at his first livehouse.
The band took a break, and other singers took the stage. Gu Shiying, having had a lot of water to drink, got up to go to the restroom.
The men’s restroom was less crowded than the women’s, so he left quickly.
After washing his hands, Gu Shiying came out and encountered Yang Shuheng and his keyboardist teammate, who were also using the restroom.
Yang Shuheng: “Why are you alone? Where are the other two?”
Gu Shiying: “They’re sitting down.”
Yang Shuheng: “This is our keyboard player, Shitou. This is my classmate. Bro, just call him Little Gu.”
Shitou was very stylish, Gu Shiying’s stereotypical band keyboardist, with shoulder-length hair, silver earrings, and fair skin. His roommates were all handsome, so Shitou’s looks were a bit ordinary in comparison, but his attire was a plus. He was quite welcoming to Gu Shiying.
He extended his hand to Gu Shiying: “Hello, Little Gu. This is the first time I’ve seen you bring a classmate here.”
Gu Shiying politely shook his hand: “After all, I’m a poor student and not yet a popular audience here, but your performance just now was very captivating. It was a feast for the eyes and ears.”
Shitou: “Little classmate, you really know how to talk.”
Gu Shiying wanted to say something polite, but a malicious thought flooded into his mind.
[Yang Shuheng will be kicked out of the band soon.]
Gu Shiying’s lips stiffened slightly, and he smiled. “I’ll go back to my seat first. Can I come see you guys afterward?”
Yang Shuheng was completely unaware that his “good brothers” were planning to kick him out. He cheerfully said, “Okay, I’ll introduce you to the other brothers later.”
They still had nearly an hour to sing, and Gu Shiying returned to his own section.
After sitting down, Gu Shiying lost the excitement he had initially felt. He fidgeted for the rest of the performance, not really listening to the sweet love songs.
How was that Shitou going to kick Yang Shuheng out? He wouldn’t do anything bad to him, would he?
Every circle has its own competition.
But they were a keyboardist and a guitarist. What kind of conflict could there be? Why did Shitou harbor such strong malice towards Yang Shuheng?
Gu Shiying was perplexed, unsure whether Shitou would physically harm Yang Shuheng. He’d heard this scene was quite chaotic.
The evening’s concert had unknowingly come to an end.
Gu Shiying and the other two headed backstage to the lounge.
Fu Huan clearly had no interest in knowing Yang Shuheng’s bandmates, but since Gu Shiying wanted to go, he didn’t refuse.
Arriving at the band’s lounge, there was a set of sofas, a coffee table with snacks, fruit, and ashtrays, and numerous musical instruments and the band members’ personal belongings scattered around. Overall, it was quite messy.
The lead singer was a handsome man, and on stage he was warm and engaging with the fans. However, he was exhausted after a long night of singing, and his face was expressionless.
Yang Shuheng happily introduced his roommates, “Let me introduce you to my roommate.”
The others were also very respectful of Yang Shuheng, and they all greeted him.
Gu Shiying was still thinking about Shitou, wondering if everyone in Yang Shuheng’s band was just putting on a front and not getting along. So he took the initiative to shake their hands.
He forced a smile and said cheerfully, “I just heard you guys sing, it was so beautiful. Can I shake your hand? I’ll definitely buy your album when it comes out!”
Gu Shiying stepped forward to shake the lead singer’s hand, and he didn’t refuse.
“Hello, thank you for your love,” he replied in a very official manner.
[I’m so tired. Can I go home early? I don’t want to deal with strangers.]
It’s hard to say what this guy’s attitude towards Yang Shuheng was.
Then, Gu Shiying shook hands with the bassist: “Hello, hello. Is there a chance I could learn bass from you? You’re such a great player.”
The bassist, a slightly chubby young man, was chewing a banana: “Sure.”
[Hungry, hungry, hungry. Let me eat first.]
The drummer looked a bit socially anxious, and Gu Shiying forced himself to shake his hand. A split second later, their hands separated.
[Don’t come over here again!] =
As it turned out, only Brother Shitou had negative thoughts about Yang Shuheng at the moment; everyone else was reacting normally.
Guan Yu also went to shake Gu Shiying’s hand. He got a notebook from somewhere and asked someone to sign it, following through on Gu Shiying’s earlier joke.
Only Fu Huan stood by the door the entire time, his face radiating a world-weary charm.
Brother Shitou smiled at Gu Shiying: “Little Gu, won’t you shake my hand again?”
Gu Shiying: “Not impossible.”
Brother Shitou indeed extended his hand to shake Gu Shiying’s, even deliberately holding it for a few seconds longer.
[You’re all just as stupid as Yang Shuheng, get out of here!]
Gu Shiying, accustomed to hearing others’ thoughts, said calmly: “Brother Shitou, Yang Shuheng and I will come and play with you next time.”
Brother Shitou was indeed filled with hatred for Yang Shuheng.
Shitou: “Welcome! We’ll treat you to drinks and barbecue later.”
Gu Shiying acted like he understood nothing: “Okay, okay.”
Everyone was tired, so Yang Shuheng and Gu Shiying left the bar.
As they went downstairs, they encountered a crowd, and the four of them were squeezed into the elevator by those waiting behind them.
Gu Shiying leaned forward and was pushed into a corner, along with Fu Huan.
The cramped space and the crowded crowd made it impossible for Gu Shiying to avoid Fu Huan.
If it were at school, Gu Shiying would have accidentally heard others’ thoughts, but now, all he heard was Fu Huan’s—familiar and infuriating!
[Tsk, can’t this hand just belong to his second brother?]
