This Time, I Am A Mob's Potions Teacher Who Has Become Engaged To The Mastermind Of The Otome Game - 7
Before I realized it, I had fallen asleep.
I remember talking with Noel, but everything after that is a blur.
When I sat up, I was met with an unbelievable sight.
“No way…”
I don’t know what time it is, but even when I last woke up, it was already dark, so it must be well past midnight. And yet, Noel was still there. What’s more, he had fallen asleep with his head resting on the bed.
“Ugh…”
Noel looked like he was having a rough time, groaning in his sleep. It made me anxious.
When I reached out and touched his forehead, his eyes—framed by long lashes—slowly opened.
His amethyst eyes locked onto mine.
“Leti…cia?”
“Yes, I’m Leticia.”
He looked startled, and it made me feel a bit awkward. Well, I guess I’d feel the same way—no one likes having their sleeping face seen, let alone being touched while asleep.
“I’m sorry for touching you without permission.”
“…No, I should be the one apologizing. Even if we’re engaged, it’s inappropriate for me to have dozed off at your bedside like that.”
Noel stood up and lit a lantern with magic, holding it in his hand. The flickering flame illuminated his jawline, and I could see just how perfectly defined his face really was.
“I’m heading to the staff dormitory, but I’ll leave my familiar Mika here with you.”
“Even though I have Jill?”
“You never know what might happen at night.”
He was insistent. Did he really feel the need to monitor me that much? I couldn’t help but feel a bit exasperated.
“Mika.”
The familiar he summoned for my protection was a large, black dog. Its sleek fur gleamed, clearly well-groomed.
“Protect Leticia.”
“Understood. Lady Leticia, please rest easy.”
“I will.”
Before Noel left the room, he stopped at the door.
“Make sure you get some sleep. Otherwise, you won’t recover properly.”
When I called out to his back, he turned and gave me an unexpectedly gentle smile.
“Thank you. Sweet dreams.”
“You too.”
For some reason, that smile eased something inside me.
Even though he’s the one keeping an eye on me—the mastermind behind all this.
A few days later, during the evening, I ran into Noel again in the corridor.
“How’s your condition?”
“Thanks to you, I’m completely fine now.”
“That’s good to hear.”
Leaning against a pillar, he stared at me intently.
His tone had softened somehow—maybe something had changed inside him?
While I was wondering about that, he handed me a document. It was our signed engagement agreement.
“The engagement has been approved.”
“Oh, that was faster than I expected. I’m glad.”
“Yeah.”
He responded plainly, without a hint of joy. But then again, I was the same.
He handed me another document. His signature was already at the bottom.
“This is the contract for the arrangement. Breaking it will trigger a curse.”
“Thorough as always.”
Skimming through it, I saw that it included conditions such as not revealing his secrets, cooperating until Professor Roaek is freed from the curse, and so on.
If I break it, my heart will be crushed, apparently.
Writing such terrifying terms so nonchalantly—Noel really is the mastermind.
Still, I had no other choice. I moved my finger and signed it with magic.
I probably won’t live long in this life either.
Maybe I should at least beg to stare at Alois’s face one more time before I die.
“The contract is sealed. Fiancée, I’ll leave the matter of the materials to you.”
“Of course.”
There wasn’t a hint of romance in the air, but well, this is an engagement built on terms.
I never expected sweet words in the first place.
But there is something I want him to know.
“I’ll cherish you. Please take care of me.”
I want him to understand that while I might get in his way, I don’t intend to become his enemy.
I will correct the course to prevent him from turning into a true villain and bring about a future where no one ends up unhappy.
“Th-thank… you.”
His reply was oddly clumsy. But his expression was perfectly neutral.
“Likewise. Let’s take care of each other.”
With those words, I officially became the mastermind’s fiancée.
I won’t give you the time to fall to darkness. I’ll keep you on your toes, so be ready, dear fiancé.
