This Time, I Am A Mob's Potions Teacher Who Has Become Engaged To The Mastermind Of The Otome Game - 3
Thanks to the kindness of Mr. Castanier, he helped carry the fabric all the way to the prep room.
Knights really are dependable.
“Thank you so much. I couldn’t have carried it myself, so you were a great help.”
“If you ever need help with heavy lifting, don’t hesitate to call on me.”
Saying something so reliable and kind, Mr. Castanier left the room—and as soon as he did, the fairies emerged from the shadows.
They’re about the size of Thumbelina—timid little things who won’t show themselves until they feel comfortable. But they’re also incredibly curious, and when they see something interesting, they come right out like this.
“Everyone, I need a favor. Are there any of you who can sew clothes?”
“We can~!” they all chirped in chorus.
Several fairies fluttered forward eagerly.
“I want to make clothes like the ones I’m about to draw. I can’t do it alone—will you help me?”
Ideally, I’d just go to a tailor, but that would be way too expensive. If I gave clothes like that to all the students, it’d definitely cause issues in the staff room.
I’ve never made clothes before, but I researched it at the library yesterday. That’ll have to be good enough.
“We’ll do it for a year’s supply of meringue cookies~”
“Deal.”
I used to be nervous about what kind of crazy prices fairies would ask for in exchange, but their demands are surprisingly cute.
I began sketching out a design of the tracksuit, and the fairies immediately got to work. They created patterns from my drawing and swiftly started cutting the fabric.
Since it was a design they’d never seen before, they were fascinated. Even as they worked, they kept muttering things like, “What weird clothes~.”
“Brat, what are you making?”
“A potato tracksuit.”
“Potato tracksuit? That sounds like food. You’re making it out of fabric?”
“It’s clothing. I want to make something that lets everyone talk freely, without worrying about their status.”
Jill watched the process at first, but he soon got bored and curled up on a chair to nap.
The sewing turned out to be just as hard as I’d expected. While I was still struggling to finish the first outfit, the fairies had already completed several.
They were scarily efficient—no human seamstress could work this fast.
Honestly, if they worked at a tailor shop, they’d probably earn a decent wage.
Eventually, one of them looked over at what I was making and said:
“It’s sooo bad~”—then proceeded to fix it for me.
…It was frustrating, but they weren’t wrong.
After all, I’m a total beginner.
“Brat, go to sleep. It’s already getting light out.”
Jill called out as I blinked sleepily.
When I looked at the clock on the wall, I couldn’t believe it—it was already 4 a.m.
“Thanks for worrying about me. I’ll take a quick break once I finish this.”
“Wha—?! I wasn’t worried! You’re keeping the room bright, and I can’t sleep, that’s all!”
Jill thumped his paw against the chair. A total tsundere—so easy to read that I nearly laughed.
He’s technically a watchdog, and he has a sharp tongue, but he still worries about me. I really do like Jill.
Also, he’s just such a cute cat. Not that I’d ever say that out loud—he’d be furious.
“It’s done…!”
As I finished the rumpled first outfit I’d been working on all along, exhaustion crashed over me. I wanted to collapse face-first onto the desk, but this was still the prep room. I needed a shower and a proper nap.
“Everyone, I’ll bring your meringue cookies after school, okay?”
“Don’t forget~!”
Fairies are surprisingly strict—if you break a promise with them, they’ll curse you for three generations.
I’ll have to make a run to the school store around lunchtime today.
Thinking hazily with my barely-functioning brain, I headed back to the staff dormitory with Jill.
