This Time, I Am A Mob's Potions Teacher Who Has Become Engaged To The Mastermind Of The Otome Game - 3
The next day after school, I headed to the library after finishing preparations for tomorrow’s classes.
Amid the shouts from the broom-racing club echoing around me, I heard my name and turned to look. Standing there was Noelle, wearing the deep violet robe that signified an official from the Ministry of Magic.
“No…el?”
I rubbed my eyes, thinking I might be seeing things, but sure enough, it was Noel standing right there.
“Good work today.”
“Wh-what are you doing here?”
“I was curious about what my fiancée is up to, so I came to see for myself.”
His soft smile was so dazzling I almost melted, but I made sure not to miss the important part of what he said. Good job, me.
So basically, he’s trying to tighten surveillance on me.
Apparently, seeing me talking all friendly with Alois made him suspicious, and now he’s come to check whether I’m a traitor or not.
“Fine by me. Watch all you want—closely and thoroughly.”
In that case, this might actually be a chance.
If I can clear up the misunderstanding, I might be able to avoid Alois’ bad ending route.
“I’m not sure how you interpreted everything, but I can tell you’ve made a ridiculous assumption.”
“What, are you mocking me?”
“You’re being dumb. Though you’re smart.”
“Which is it?!”
Make up your mind—are you complimenting or insulting me?
I tried glaring at him, but it had absolutely no effect. He just gave a dramatic sigh.
Noel’s been way too familiar with me lately, hasn’t he?
Not that I really mind.
◇
I went to the same bookshelf as yesterday, the one lined with books on plants, and found Alois leaning against it, reading.
The sight was so beautiful I nearly forgot to breathe.
He noticed our presence, looked up, and said, “Professor Bellecourt, I’ve been waiting for you.”
He… was waiting for me?
I swear, it felt like an arrow just pierced straight through my heart.
Please, someone replay that moment.
My favorite character just told me he was waiting for me.
So precious!!!
“So, why is Professor Fabius here?”
Alois’s gaze shifted to Noel standing beside me.
His eyes had that frosty look so typical of the “Prince of Ice” I knew, and that, too, made me want to scream from the sheer beauty—but I held it in.
Of course he’s curious.
After all, why is Noel, who’s supposed to be working far away at the Ministry of Magic, here at Oria Magic Academy?
“Your Highness, she’s my fiancée. Is it wrong for me to come see my fiancée every day?”
Noel said this without hesitation, fully indulging in his fake-fiancé act.
“I’m not saying it’s wrong, but please don’t bring personal matters into the school.”
Ever the model student, Alois brushed Noelle off and asked me about something he didn’t understand while previewing tomorrow’s lesson.
It’s impressive that he previews lessons the day before. So responsible. So precious. Truly worthy of being my favorite.
“I’m so happy you even take time to prepare ahead. You’re doing wonderfully.”
I wanted to pat his head again today, but I held back since Noel was shooting daggers at me from behind.
◇
After leaving the library, Noel still didn’t seem ready to go home, and tried to follow me to the prep room.
“Noelle, go home for today.”
“Why?”
He looked so shocked it hurt my conscience a little.
“I’m about to talk to the fairies about Moryu. But they won’t come out if you’re around.”
When I added that, he made a reluctant face, but finally agreed to leave.
Even though he was trying to keep an eye on me, he looked like a child who didn’t get enough attention—kind of cute, actually.
“Noel, make sure you go to bed early tonight, okay?”
I said it jokingly, like a mother would.
“I got it.”
Noelle gave me a look like, are you serious? but still went along with my mom act.
“And no reading books! They might keep you awake!”
“Yeah, I’ll try not to.”
“Good.”
On impulse, I reached out and patted his head. He looked startled but didn’t resist.
The way he behaved reminded me a little of Alois, but that was something best left unspoken.
Also, Noel’s hair was so smooth and shiny it made me jealous.
So funny
