- Episode 14 - The Scam Hospital Belongs to My Family
Sister Zhou called, and Qi Jinyou quickly answered. Zhou Jie sounded anxious and asked about her situation. Qi Jinyou told her the truth and reassured her not to worry.
Sister Zhou sighed in relief before explaining that she and Manager Zhang had been waiting at the foot of the mountain. When they saw her being carried down on a stretcher, they wanted to check on her, but a group of tall men blocked their way.
Qi Jinyou was silent for a moment. Since she had been lying down the whole time, she hadn’t noticed what was happening around her.
She explained again that she had only sprained her foot and asked Sister Zhou to apologize to Manager Zhang on her behalf. After all, her mistake had affected their work.
Sister Zhou chuckled and told her that the club would cover all her medical expenses. She urged her to go to the hospital for a proper check-up and treatment, adding a final reminder not to try to save money for Manager Zhang.
Hearing someone call for Sister Zhou in the background, Qi Jinyou thanked her and ended the call.
The ambulance stopped soon after.
Qi Jinyou was pushed out of the ambulance and found herself in front of a hospital. From the surroundings, it didn’t seem to be in the city but rather in the suburbs. The hospital’s name was unfamiliar, and unlike most hospitals in Haishi, its name didn’t start with “Haishi.”
The hospital’s exterior was upscale, not as busy as a regular hospital, so it was likely a private facility.
Qi Jinyou suddenly realized that she probably wouldn’t be able to use her medical insurance here. Although the club was covering her expenses, it was still better to save money when possible.
However, she felt awkward asking about it.
As they entered through the main doors and passed through the lobby, a new medical team came to take over the stretcher. The female doctor from earlier followed closely behind.
Seeing how hurried and serious they all looked, Qi Jinyou couldn’t help but remind them, “It’s just a sprained ankle, nothing serious.”
Lying on a stretcher was embarrassing enough, and the nervous expressions on everyone’s faces made it worse.
Qi Jinyou was secretly relieved that this hospital wasn’t crowded.
At least no one would be pointing fingers and gossiping about her.
The medical staff just smiled at her and continued walking quickly.
After coming out of the CT scan room, Qi Jinyou was surprised to see Song Chu. He was speaking with the doctor who had taken her scan.
The heavy CT room door opened and closed with a thud, catching Song Chu’s attention. He turned around.
Now that she finally had a chance to stop and understand the situation, she was about to ask him something when he spoke first.
“The results will be out in about thirty minutes. You’ll stay in the hospital tonight.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Qi Jinyou quickly objected, “No need! I can feel it myself—it’s just a sprain. The doctor can give me some medicine, and I can go home.”
Before Song Chu could respond, the doctor beside him smiled and said, “You shouldn’t underestimate a sprain. If you ignore it, it’ll make sure you regret it.”
“Let’s wait for the results,” Song Chu continued. “For now, let’s go back to your room.”
Before Qi Jinyou could react, the stretcher was moving again.
Once again, she felt like she had no control over her own body.
The hospital room was luxurious, with two beds. Apart from the call buttons and labels at the bedside, the room was decorated like a home. There was even a faint fragrance in the air.
A nurse was already waiting inside. After the doctor left, the nurse handed Qi Jinyou a hospital gown. At first glance, she thought it was pajamas—it wasn’t the usual plain hospital gown but a patterned purple one.
Qi Jinyou refused immediately.
Staying in the hospital for a sprained ankle seemed ridiculous.
Although, she had seen worse. Her cousin, Shen Yan, once forced her family to take her to the hospital after getting sore legs from running at school.
But ever since her father passed away, she was no longer a spoiled girl.
Unless it was life-threatening or unbearable pain, she always endured it and handled it herself.
There was no one for her to rely on.
If she wasn’t born to be a princess, she shouldn’t act like one.
If she ever went abroad alone in the future, she had to become strong enough to survive on her own.
The nurse was patient, standing quietly while holding the hospital gown.
However, Qi Jinyou couldn’t even try to get up and leave. The moment she put pressure on her right foot, the pain showed on her face.
The nurse smiled and reassured her, “Our hospital has advanced equipment. We can treat a sprain quickly and completely.”
Qi Jinyou looked at her with suspicion. It was a private hospital, after all. Even the nurse knew how to sell their services.
She started typing a message to Song Chu.
She had to warn him not to fall for the hospital’s tricks.
If she had to stay in a hospital, it should at least be a reputable public one.
[Brother Song Chu, don’t listen to the doctors scare you. My injury is nothing serious. Private hospitals are unreliable—they make up extra charges. Don’t let them fool you.]
Even though she wasn’t paying for it, that didn’t mean money should be wasted.
However, after a few minutes, there was no reply.
[Brother Song Chu, did you get my message?] Qi Jinyou hoped he would come and take her away from this place.
Still, there was no response.
She had no choice but to wait. Right now, Song Chu was the only one who could take her away.
The hospital was far from the city, and since it was a holiday, she didn’t want to bother anyone else.
Five minutes later, footsteps sounded from the door.
Along with them came the sound of a phone conversation.
As soon as the person stepped into the room, the call ended. Qi Jinyou recognized the voice as Song Chu’s.
She looked up and saw him carrying a bag as he walked in.
The nurse saw him, put down the hospital gown, and respectfully took the bag from his hands. “Mr. Song, what is this?”
Song Chu glanced at the pajamas.
“Aunt Li, it’s dinner. Please set it up.”
Aunt Li nodded and placed several dishes on the table.
Before leaving, she said to him, “Mr. Song, I’ll check on my colleagues. Call me if you need anything.”
Listening to their brief conversation, Qi Jinyou realized she might have misunderstood something.
“Brother Song Chu, this hospital is…?” she asked hesitantly.
“Yes, this ‘scam hospital’ belongs to my family,” he replied.
Qi Jinyou pressed her lips together, avoiding his gaze. This was completely unexpected.
Seeing her embarrassed expression, Song Chu’s lips curved into a slight smile.
It was already close to nine o’clock.
He walked behind her wheelchair and pushed it forward.
“You must be hungry. Try the food from this ‘scam hospital’ and see if it tastes any good.”
Qi Jinyou lowered her head, took a deep breath, then looked up with a flattering smile. “I’m sorry! I totally misunderstood you.”
On the table, there were four dishes and a soup, still steaming hot.
Qi Jinyou suddenly realized she was starving.
She took a few bites and was about to say she would leave after taking her medicine, but Song Chu spoke first.
“The doctor said you need to rest and stay still. It’s best for you to stay in the hospital for two days.”
“No need. I’ll go home. It’s a holiday, so I don’t need to go out. I can rest at home.”
The hospital had caretakers, but that only made her uncomfortable.
She had long been used to taking care of herself, avoiding troubling others whenever possible.
“Do you have a roommate to take care of you?” Song Chu asked.
Qi Jinyao shook her head, but that wasn’t a problem. She could order food delivery. Staying in the hospital was unnecessary.
“Then stay here. There are caretakers and proper treatment.” Song Chu looked at her firmly.
His usual cold arrogance had faded, replaced by an unusual warmth.
But there was still a hint of authority beneath it.
Qi Jinyou was stunned for a moment, unable to find another excuse.
“You should at least give the hospital a chance. See if you’ll leave in a few days missing a kidney or a liver.”
