To Sink Into You - Chapter 27
Yin Rong let the director tease him a bit, then cleared his schedule to have dinner with Qian Lang.
As they settled the bill and walked out, Yin Rong suddenly caught sight of Wen Yuxi’s figure. Surprised, he paused, his gaze lingering on the woman talking to Wen Yuxi under the streetlight. His eyes widened abruptly.
This… isn’t that the CEO of Mingwei Group?
Ever since differentiating into an Omega, Yin Rong had dreamed of marrying into a wealthy family. His understanding of the Imperial Capital’s elite circles was comprehensive, and he was well aware of Ming Qian’s status.
Could she be the powerful figure behind Wen Yuxi, the one even Qian Lang wouldn’t dare offend?
A devious thought instantly took root in Yin Rong’s mind. Becoming Ming Qian’s lover would be far more promising than being Qian Lang’s.
Without a doubt, Ming Qian was an exceptional Alpha. Her rank, family background, capabilities, appearance, and personality—she had no weaknesses, perfect to the point of being almost flawless.
…No.
Yin Rong thought, Ming Qian did have a flaw.
Because she was an Alpha, and an Alpha’s inherent fickleness and infidelity were fatal flaws etched into their very genes. Without the restraint of law, few could resist such temptations.
Alphas could mark multiple Omegas, while Omegas could only be marked by a single Alpha. This inherent inequality was a fundamental law of nature.
Compounded by various factors, it had become remarkably easy for Omegas to actively seduce Alphas in the modern world.
A predatory smile crept across Yin Rong’s face. She excused herself from Qian Lang, pulled her assistant Xiao Kang into a corner, and hid behind a green belt, waiting for the opportune moment.
Xiao Kang asked, puzzled, “Teacher Yin, what are we doing here?”
“Shut up!” Yin Rong clamped her hand over his mouth. “Not a word without my permission!”
Xiao Kang nodded frantically, daring not to argue.
Nearby, Wen Yuxi and Ming Qian finished their conversation, exchanged a brief hug, and said their goodbyes.
As evening approached, streetlights began to flicker on. Ming Qian watched Wen Yuxi leave until the girl’s figure disappeared around the corner. After a few words with Qing Zeyya, she boarded the waiting car, ready to return to the Imperial Capital.
The driver, Shen Kang, started the engine, turned the steering wheel, and was about to step on the accelerator when a man suddenly darted out from the side, sprinting toward the front of the car. He tripped over his own feet and crashed to the ground in a clumsy heap.
Shen Kang braked, unfazed by the bizarre scene. He turned to Ming Qian and said, “President Ming, please wait a moment. There’s a scammer lying in front of the car. I’ll handle it.”
Ming Qian leaned back in her seat, her eyes closed in rest. Her voice was languidly nasal. “Mm, go ahead.”
Shen Kang opened the car door and stepped out. He strode forward, looked down at the man sprawled on the ground, and said sternly, “Sir, this road is under surveillance. Please get up.”
Yin Rong hadn’t appeared yet, so Xiao Kang had no choice but to continue the act. Clutching his thigh, he howled, “Aiyo, my leg hurts!”
Shen Kang stared at him in silence.
Shen Kang sighed. “If you don’t get up now, I’ll call the police and have them review the surveillance footage. You won’t be able to deny it then.”
Just as Xiao Kang was hesitating whether to get up, Yin Rong finally appeared. He hurried over, helped Xiao Kang to his feet, and feigned panic. “Are you alright?”
Xiao Kang’s toes were practically tearing through his shoes. Bro, you’re not an actor. Have some self-awareness!
Shen Kang sized up Yin Rong. “Are you his friend?”
“Yes,” Yin Rong replied, frowning. Guessing Shen Kang was Ming Qian’s driver, he asked, “Are you the car owner?”
“Yes,” Shen Kang said earnestly. “Please take good care of your friend and don’t get any ideas.”
“Who are you trying to fool? A Beta old man like you driving a luxury car like this?” Yin Rong sneered. “You injured my friend. Get the owner here to apologize immediately.”
Shen Kang remained impassive. “If you continue this behavior, I’ll call the police and have the surveillance footage reviewed.”
Yin Rong visibly flinched, but he refused to leave without seeing Ming Qian. As the standoff dragged on, the rear window of the car rolled down, and a gentle female voice asked, “Is it still not resolved?”
Yin Rong’s eyes lit up. He shoved Xiao Kang aside and strode to the window, saying haughtily, “Madam, your driver hit my friend. Are you planning to weasel out of this?”
This was a tactic Yin Rong had improvised based on a cheesy idol drama he’d once acted in, using the exact same lines. He planned to hitch a ride to the hospital under the guise of checking on his friend, hoping to further his interactions with Ming Qian.
Wealthy Alphas were surrounded by docile “little white rabbits,” and he was confident his thorny “rose” persona would be a refreshing novelty.
Hearing this, Ming Qian smiled calmly. “You must be one of Young Master Qian’s people. My wife works with you; I appreciate your usual care for her.”
After a pause, she said calmly, “Your friend being hit by a car must be a very serious matter. I’ll have an ambulance called right away, and I’ll also notify Young Master Qian. He must be terribly worried about you.”
Yin Rong’s face turned ashen. He never imagined Ming Qian knew about his relationship with Qian Lang. If Qian Lang found out he was flirting with other Alphas, he would be completely ruined.
“No… it’s nothing. Don’t trouble yourself,” Yin Rong stammered, abandoning any ulterior motives. He didn’t want to lose everything. “I’m sorry for causing you trouble.”
Ming Qian asked kindly, “Are you sure you’re alright?”
“Yes, I’m fine. Really, I’m fine,” Yin Rong insisted, shaking his head and backing away. “I’ve taken up too much of your time.”
“It’s no problem,” Ming Qian replied. “Lao Shen, let’s go.”
Shen Kang opened the car door. “Yes, President Ming.”
The business car sped away, leaving a trail of exhaust fumes in its wake.
Yin Rong gritted his teeth in resentment. What did Wen Yuxi have that he didn’t? How could she marry Ming Qian and become her wife? Why wasn’t he so fortunate? Why was he stuck serving a violent, impotent man like Qian Lang?
He vowed to find an even more powerful patron!
In the business car, Ming Qian rubbed her temples and said to Qing Zeyya, “Zeyya, I remember you added Director Luo Xinfeng’s contact information yesterday, right?”
“Yes, President Ming,” Qing Zeyya replied. “Do you want me to call Director Luo?”
“Mm-hmm,” Ming Qian murmured. “Call him and ask him to look after Yuxi. Make sure no one bullies her, especially that actor Yin Rong. Be firm if necessary.”
“Understood. Should I call him now?” Qing Zeyya asked.
“Later,” Ming Qian said. “He’s probably busy with work right now.”
Qing Zeyya nodded. “Very well.”
Ming Qian turned to gaze out the window, her dark eyes deep and luminous, as if they held the entire city’s glittering lights. The vibrant starlight danced within them, dazzling and impossibly beautiful.
Leap Group, Qian Lang, Yin Rong…
Ming Qian’s long, raven-black lashes fluttered slightly, casting a shadow over her thoughtful expression.
It was time to meet with Qian Randong.
