To Sink Into You - Chapter 29
The next morning, before work began, Luo Xinfeng gathered all the crew members. With his left hand on his hip and a megaphone in his right, he glared at them, spitting furiously as he roared:
“What the hell do you think you’re being paid for, huh? To gossip and spread rumors? You’ve even started targeting me now—you’ve got some nerve! Tell me, are you getting paid by the word for this bullshit? A dollar a lie? Have you no shame?!”
“I’ve been happily married to my wife for twenty years, we have two kids, and our family of four is healthy and thriving. Everyone else calls me a model husband, but you’re twisting me into some perverted scumbag? How utterly despicable! I’m asking you—how utterly despicable! And now you’ve made my wife misunderstand? You think you can just sit back and let her stew in that confusion?!”
“President Qian and I go way back—we’re practically family. Anyone who dares to spread rumors again will be kicked off this set immediately! Don’t test me—I have the power to do it! The Empire has 1.3 billion people; if you won’t work, someone else will!”
“And to certain individuals: I advise you not to push your luck. I’ve been ignoring you because I can’t be bothered, not because you’re untouchable. If I complain to President Qian, do you think she’d hesitate to replace you?”
“Alright, that’s enough talk. Everyone to your stations, let’s get back to work!”
With that, Luo Xinfeng tossed down the megaphone and went to work.
Yin Rong immediately understood that Luo Xinfeng’s “certain people” referred to him. He gritted his teeth, his face flushed with anger, but dared not challenge him.
Because every word Luo Xinfeng spoke was true.
Qian Randong was the CEO of Yuejin Group, the one who held real power. Qian Lang, a prodigal son banished from the center of influence, had no choice but to obey and endure his elder sister’s scolding.
Yin Rong couldn’t help but resent his situation. If only he were Qian Randong’s Omega, he wouldn’t have to endure such humiliation. He wouldn’t even be able to deal with Wen Yuxi, whom he despised.
One day, he would seduce Qian Randong and thoroughly humiliate Luo Xinfeng and Wen Yuxi!
The price for five days of vacation was a sudden surge in Wen Yuxi’s workload upon returning. She was so busy she barely had time to breathe, her back aching from exhaustion.
There was no choice. During her absence, Shi Yuan and her four Senior Sisters had shouldered her responsibilities. She owed them a debt of gratitude that she was determined to repay in full.
Time flew by in a blur of activity. On December 16th, after three months of filming, the drama Red Furnace Snow officially wrapped production.
The wrap party was held at Hui Film City, attended by the main cast, key crew members, and executives from various production companies. The atmosphere was lively, filled with clinking glasses, the rustle of silk, and the buzz of conversation.
As the executive producer, Qian Randong was undoubtedly the center of attention. Dressed in a tailored dark gray suit, she sat regally at the head table, her long hair cascading over her shoulders. Her sharp gaze and stern expression exuded an aura of authority.
The core members of the production team were seated around the table. Beside Qian Randong sat Luo Xinfeng, the assistant director, the head writer, and the two lead actors. The group raised their glasses in a toast, their laughter and conversation creating a warm, convivial atmosphere.
Luo Xinfeng chuckled, “Randong, let me introduce you. This is Zhao Lan from Shancheng Entertainment. Yuwei is already with your company, so no need for introductions. This is Assistant Director Yao Zhi, and this is Head Writer Wang Fufang.”
The individuals named each smiled and nodded respectfully toward Qian Randong.
Qian Randong acknowledged them with a curt nod, her gaze sweeping casually across the group before settling on Han Yuwei’s face. A faint, mocking smile curved her lips.
Han Yuwei met her gaze steadily, returning a warm, genuine smile without a trace of intimidation.
Wen Yuxi crouched in a corner, scarfing down her meal as quickly as possible, eager to slip away at the first opportunity. As she reached the banquet hall entrance, her phone suddenly rang. She answered, “Hello, Sis?”
Ming Qian’s voice sounded slightly strained. “Is the banquet over?”
“Not even close. I’m full now and was just about to go upstairs for my luggage and head home,” Wen Yuxi replied cheerfully. “What’s up?”
“I’m coming to your hotel to meet a friend. I’ll be there soon,” Ming Qian said softly. “Could you wait for me? We can go home together after I’m done.”
“Alright,” Wen Yuxi said immediately, heading toward the hotel entrance. “I’ll wait for you at the door.”
“Okay.”
Less than ten minutes later, Ming Qian and Wen Yuxi met at the entrance. Qing Zeyya followed behind them as they walked back to the banquet hall together.
In the elevator, Wen Yuxi asked curiously, “Who is the friend you mentioned, Sister?”
“The eldest daughter of the Qian Group,” Ming Qian replied. “She’s the producer of Red Furnace Snow. You probably saw her earlier.”
Wen Yuxi nodded. “I did.”
“I sent her a message saying I wanted to chat privately for a few minutes.” Ming Qian stepped out of the elevator. “Grab a drink and wait for me, okay?”
“Okay.”
As they spoke, the three entered the banquet hall one after another. After parting ways with Ming Qian and Qing Zeyya, Wen Yuxi grabbed a bottle of water and settled into a random seat to pass the time.
Upon receiving the message, Qian Randong rose leisurely and strolled to the entrance to greet Ming Qian. He smiled faintly. “You’re here, President Ming.”
The smile on Ming Qian’s lips was gentle and soft. “Mm.”
Though both were Alphas, Ming Qian exuded a gentle warmth like a spring breeze, while Qian Randong radiated an icy chill, like being trapped in a frozen cellar. His domineering presence commanded attention, yet deterred approach.
A-Class and S-Class Alphas were already rare; their simultaneous appearance was even rarer. The surrounding gazes frequently darted toward them, landing on the pair with palpable weight.
Ming Qian’s expression remained unchanged. “Let’s find a place where we can talk.”
“Very well.”
Qian Randong instructed his secretary to reserve a private room. As the group settled in, a waiter delivered drinks and respectfully withdrew.
“President Ming,” Qian Randong began, “my good-for-nothing idiot brother has been acting up lately, causing trouble everywhere. I apologize for his offense against you.”
As his elder sister, Qian Randong knew exactly what kind of person Qian Lang was. She didn’t mind his usual indiscretions, but his reckless provocation of Ming Qian was unforgivable. He would certainly face a severe reckoning upon his return.
Despite her inner fury, Qian Randong maintained a facade of composure. She personally poured Ming Qian a glass of wine. “Consider this a favor I owe you.”
Ming Qian smiled faintly. “Since President Qian has put it that way, I won’t stand on ceremony. I do have a favor to ask.”
Qian Randong wasn’t surprised. “Please go ahead.”
Ming Qian lowered her voice. “Help me teach a lesson to someone named Nan Suicheng. He’s a male Beta, 47 years old, and works as a production manager.”
“Nan Suicheng?” Qian Randong lowered his gaze in thought. “I’ve heard that name. He’s been in the industry for years. What’s he done?”
Ming Qian replied with a serious expression, “He bullied my wife.”
When Luo Xinfeng heard about the rumors involving himself and Wen Yuxi, he was so terrified he nearly lost his mind. He immediately explained the situation to Ming Qian, fearing she might misunderstand.
Through this, Ming Qian learned the full story and couldn’t help but feel guilty—her thoughtless actions had clearly hurt Wen Yuxi.
Just as she was about to take action, Ming Qian received a call from Wen Yuxi. Admiring and agreeing with the girl’s plan, she temporarily abandoned her intention to intervene and postponed her meeting with Qian Randong.
Now that filming had wrapped up, it was time to settle accounts.
