To You Who Will Destroy Me - Chapter 1
<Episode 1>
Rae-yeon looked at herself in the mirror. The woman who was reflected on it was a beauty with her thick platinum hair neatly tied up and wearing a delicate chemise.
The slender face with sparkling blue eyes was so beautiful that it was hard to get used to it no matter how many times I saw it. However, it was never her own. Strictly speaking, it was the body of a supporting character in a game she was playing, ‘Irel Ellorance’.
‘How did I end up like this?’
Rae-yeon was lost in thought, while playing with the hem of her clothes. The worries she had been chewing on until they were dry and worn out were like chewing gum that had lost all its sweetness. But still, there was no answer.
The reason why she, an ordinary college student who was about to graduate, ended up in this game was quite strange.
Rae-yeon, who had never touched a game before, needed something to relieve her boredom and anxiety while waiting for the job announcement. So she started playing a game she had never played before.
‘Salvation.’
It was a game with a very romantic name. The characters in the game were all charming and seemed to have their own unique personalities, and the ‘affection’ system that reacted to the player’s words and actions was also very interesting.
Rae yeon was completely immersed in the game’s unique worldview and settings. If possible, she would want to live inside the game.
‘I didn’t know that it would really turn out like this.’
She was so addicted to the fun of games for the first time in her life that she didn’t eat properly and slept poorly. She was estranged from her family and lived alone, so there was no one to take care of her.
Then, at some point, her body, which had passed its limit, could not hold out and collapsed. When Rae-yeon opened her eyes again, she was in the body of the supporting character in the game, her name was ‘Irel Ellorance’.
‘This is ridiculous!’
It was embarrassing enough that she was in the body of a game character. To make matters worse, she began seeing things she shouldn’t have seen. It was none other than the favorability ratings of the characters in the game.
Boom-!!!
Unfortunately, the game didn’t even give me time to reflect on my life. Suddenly, there was a loud noise, and the bedroom door was shattered. The large wooden door fell apart as if it had been hit by a bomb, and the smell of something burning rose up.
“Whoa!”
Rae-yeon, or rather Irel, was startled by this and looked back. Then, beyond the shattered door, a man as beautiful as a devil was seen.
“Oh. My mistake.”
The man standing there, like an extension of a nightmare, laughed cruelly. It was shameless of him to say such a thing as if he was embarrassed on purpose, to scare her.
He threw the doorknob that he held in his hand and entered with a reckless gait. It was in his secret bedroom, where no other man should ever set their foot into.
“You must have been really surprised. I guess, I should have knocked.”
The man smiled captivatingly at Irel’s frozen face. He knew fully well why she had locked the door, but he himself found it disgusting that he was now talking about ‘knocking on the door’.
‘He hates me.’
Irel bit her lip and looked up at the man. He was destined to become terribly entangled with Irel Ellorance, and Rae yeon was trying her best to avoid it.
But he appeared in her life like the last disaster that had descended upon this world. And like a mercenary without blood or tears, he tried to conquer her body and mind.
[Barkan Ha-Mash: Current favorability rating 25. He is currently ‘hostile’.]
Irell despaired at the system message that appeared before her eyes. Despite all her efforts, his favorability rating towards her was only that low.
“Oh, if you bite it, then it will bleed.”
It seemed that she had bitten her lip unconsciously in frustration. The man’s long, strong fingers suddenly approached her and touched her lower lip. At first, they were affectionate, as if they were removing the lip bitten by her upper teeth, but gradually, the fingertips began to rub her lips in a strange way.
“I thought you ran away because you didn’t come out for so long. When I thought about it like that, I got anxious.”
The gaze that was staring at me as if it would devour my swollen lips that he had rubbed was stinging. Even though he didn’t love her, that man was particularly easily aroused. It was as if the medicine was flowing through her veins instead of blood.
“You understand, right? It’s all because I like you so much.”
The man shrugged, kicking away the fragments of the shattered door with his toes. Although his face was as bashful as it was, the eyes staring at Irell were as cold as ice.
He was really a bad man. Irell turned her head away from the hand that was touching her lips. She was afraid of the man in front of her and wanted to run right away, but there was no other way. In order to survive, she had to please him somehow.
“Oh, it’s okay. We can just fix the door. But more importantly, your hand… … .”
“But it’s strange.”
The man cut off her stammering words without a care. Then he tilted his handsome face to the side and asked,
“Why didn’t you run away? I like playing tag.”
His breath, while asking that question languidly, wafted a mixture of dry ash and sensual musk. As I stepped back to avoid it, his wild golden eyes narrowed like an animal that was about to hunt. How would I dare to run away when those eyes were looking at me?
“It’s a shame. I was planning on punishing you if I caught you.”
He whispered it like it was some kind of a lover’s usual dirty joke. But Irel’s face, looking at the sensual smile, became further hazy and, turned even paler.
‘Did she notice?’
I was planning on breaking her ankles if I caught her running away from me. At times like this, I just regretted that the woman in front of me was so unnecessarily clever. Thanks to that, I never once acted on the cruel impulses that ran wild into my head.
Barkan slowly moistened his lips with his tongue, hiding his anxious feelings. Whenever he was in front of this woman, his fever would rise and his lips would become dry.
If I could, I would have put a leash on her and always hold her in my hand. It was a thought that came to me without thinking, but I liked it so much that the smile on my lips deepened.
Irel, who sensed a sense of crisis in that ecstatic face, quickly opened her mouth.
“Why would I run away and leave you?”
Irel, who stretched out her slender arms, carefully took his hand. Then, she gently stroked his large hand with her small, slender fingers as if soothing it. As the ticklish sensation stimulated the back of his hand, the madness in the man’s eyes subsided.
But even at the moment when they looked at each other affectionately and smiled like lovers, they both knew that, although she had touched him first, her hand were trembling as if she was stroking a fierce dog that might bite her at any moment.
“Well, why would I have thought you would run away is because … … .”
Is it because I love you too much? The man muttered in a dry tone, his eyelashes lowered. His side profile was soaked in sorrow, like a man who is holding his lover in his arms but is worried that she might disappear at any moment.
That’s why Irel thought it was even more abominable. To him, she wasn’t a person. She was just a convenient painkiller that made him forget his chronic pain, nothing more, nothing less.
The fact that this man was constantly scaring her and sweetly coaxing her was also a kind of training. It was just a trick to make her feel deeply regretful so that she would never go anywhere and she would only belong to him until she died.
But Irel had to pretend not to notice. From the beginning, there was only one rule in this icy relationship. It was a game where the one who first stopped pretending to be a lover and turned the table over will loose the game.
“I will never leave your side.”
Irel held his hand a little tighter and whispered softly. Although her pretty lips were frozen with fear, the voice that flowed out was so warm that it felt like spring.
“Because I fell in love with you at first sight… … Masaka Barkan.”
Irel, who barely managed to keep her voice from shaking as she spoke, smiled. Looking at that face that was like a ray of sunlight, Barkan’s eyes became as dim as a crescent moon.
‘You’re pretty good at lying, aren’t you?’
He found it amusing every time Irel would tremble and pretend to be calm. It was sometimes terribly unpleasant, but honestly, it was fun.
How far could this weak woman, who was not even a handful, go in showing off? He suddenly felt like he wanted to watch the woman in front of him for a little longer.
After all, ruining her was as easy as squeezing an orange in his hand and popping it. So it wouldn’t be a bad idea to give this game a little more pace.
Tring!
Irel raised her head at the delightful sound that could only be heard by her. Then, she saw translucent letters floating in the empty air.
[Barkan’s favorability increased by 3.]
Irel felt a little relieved. It was really hard to raise the favorability rating of Barkan, who had a very twisted and obsessive personality, compared to how he was always single.
The relief from the favorability rating that she had managed to raise was short-lived, as Barkan suddenly approached her. As his large body approached her threateningly, Irel instinctively took a step back. However, the narrow hem of her chemise got caught up in her legs, and she ended up falling over onto the sofa.
“Ah……!!”
Before she could come to her senses, her wrist was grabbed and held down, and the man’s strong body was on top of her. Then, he looked down at Irel as if he loved her, and smiled coldly.
“I’m glad. Your heart is mine too.”
In the blink of an eye, his hand snaked under her thin chemise, while gently caressing her slender calf and commanding her haughtily.
“Spread your legs for me now.”
