Today I Will Also Be the Male Protagonist’s Rival - Chapter 14
“Su Yu-jie.”
The voice was soft and sticky, carrying a hint of timidity.
Su Yu turned around.
The young girl stood not far away, biting her lip, looking at her with big, hopeful eyes.
She looked just like a startled little deer.
Su Yu’s eyes curved into a smile. “Come here.”
Huo Shu instantly lifted her face and jogged over, subtly squeezing Ling Qingqing aside.
“Su Yu-jie, I’m sorry.”
The girl lowered her head, her fair, slender fingers nervously twisting the hem of her shirt. In a shy voice, she said, “I shouldn’t have said those things to you last time. Will you… will you forgive me?”
She lifted her head slightly, her features soft, eyes shimmering with moisture, lips parted like she wanted to speak but hesitated—it was utterly captivating.
Su Yu was momentarily stunned, then suddenly remembered that day—how the little girl had been so shy and awkward.
A small smile tugged at her lips. Propping her chin up with one hand, she glanced at her sideways. “But what if I don’t forgive you?”
Huo Shu was caught off guard, clearly not expecting that response. Her eyes turned slightly red.
She sniffled and pushed down her grievance. “Then… then I’ll…”
“Then you’ll cry for me?”
Su Yu flicked her forehead and chuckled, “You really are a little crybaby!”
“I am not!”
Huo Shu covered her forehead, pouting in protest, but the tips of her ears quietly turned red.
Ling Qingqing took the opportunity to sit down and asked with a smile, “Who is this?”
Su Yu looked relaxed, absentmindedly fanning herself with a round fan. “A young girl from the crew, Huo Shu.”
Huo Shu’s face flushed bright red with anger.
A young girl from the crew?
They were already living together! And Su Yu-jie had… had treated her like that! And now she was pretending not to know her?
Ling Qingqing gave an “oh” and seemed to have understood something.
After a moment, she looked up at Huo Shu and smiled politely. “Miss Huo, do you still need something?”
Huo Shu’s eyes widened.
This fox spirit is trying to get rid of her?
She was furious!
Taking a deep breath, she replied in a muffled voice, “No.”
Ling Qingqing leaned back slightly and nodded, “Then please leave. Su Yu and I have something to discuss.”
“What is it that you have to talk about alone?”
Huo Shu muttered quietly, then looked pitifully at Su Yu. “Su Yu-jie~”
“Be good.”
Su Yu patted her little head and smiled. “I still have things to do.”
“Oh.”
Huo Shu obediently nodded and left reluctantly, turning back to look every few steps.
Ling Qingqing curved her lips slightly, then turned her head and asked, “Mind if I talk to her?”
Su Yu was momentarily taken aback. “Isn’t this your business?”
Ling Qingqing acted like she just realized it, got up, and chased after Huo Shu.
She caught up in just a few steps.
“Miss Huo.”
Huo Shu stopped and turned around. Upon seeing her, she replied politely, “Senior Ling.”
Ling Qingqing gave her a once-over and chuckled. “You’re pretty good.”
Huo Shu’s expression stiffened a little. Her fair fingers clenched slightly. She asked softly, “Senior Ling, what do you mean by that?”
Ling Qingqing smiled and clicked her tongue. “Little girl’s got skills.”
This girl was sharp.
Even someone as clever as Su Yu had been taken in by her.
Was this little white rabbit truly innocent, or was she a big bad wolf in disguise? That was still unclear.
Huo Shu’s expression grew slightly unnatural. She pursed her lips and said quietly, “If you don’t have anything else, I’ll take my leave.”
Ling Qingqing raised her hand to block her and said clearly, “I don’t care what you think of Su Yu. Just don’t mess with her right now!”
“That’s not something you need to say!”
Huo Shu froze, her face turning slightly cold. “No one cares more about Su Yu-jie than I do.”
Ling Qingqing looked at her with a smile, then suddenly changed the subject. “You like her?”
Huo Shu’s face instantly turned bright red. “You… what are you saying?! I… I just see her as an older sister. That’s all, really.”
Ling Qingqing gave a noncommittal “oh,” not showing whether she believed it. She pointed her chin. “You can go now.”
Huo Shu turned away, still blushing.
Behind her came a light and floating sentence—
“Cheng Chen likes her.”
“Little girl, the road is long.”
Huo Shu’s body tensed. She whipped around, only to see a retreating back—graceful and drifting away.
Cheng Chen.
She whispered the name and clenched her fists.
So what if he’s the Film Emperor?
She wasn’t necessarily worse than him!
Huo Shu pressed her lips together tightly. Remembering Ling Qingqing’s words, she suddenly felt a bit stifled.
Would she tell Su Yu-jie?
Would Su Yu-jie think she was scheming?
Huo Shu sighed in frustration.
“The ones who cry get the candy”—that’s what the teacher said.
Whatever!
Huo Shu clenched her little fists.
One day, she’d chase that fox spirit away!
So annoying!
“What did you talk to her about?”
Su Yu lifted her eyelids slightly and patted the chair beside her.
“That girl’s not as innocent as she looks.”
Ling Qingqing obediently sat down, turned her head and said, “Don’t let her fool you.”
Su Yu was momentarily stunned, then suddenly smiled—her eyes and brows dazzlingly beautiful, sparkling under the sunlight.
“Everyone knows a few tricks…”
She paused, shrugged lazily. “But… as long as she doesn’t mean harm, what’s the big deal if she plays some tricks?”
It wasn’t like she hadn’t noticed—she’d just been indulging Huo Shu the whole time.
She was young, relied on her, like a little pet—actually kind of cute.
Ling Qingqing was momentarily speechless.
【Host, the target is approaching. Please be alert!】
Su Yu looked up.
Under the tree, Cheng Chen was walking toward them with a dark expression.
