Today I Will Also Be the Male Protagonist’s Rival - Chapter 20
The hardest thing to resist is the favor of a beauty!
In the end, Su Yu couldn’t bring herself to leave tonight. The young girl clung to her hem, crying and whining, both acting spoiled and making a fuss—it was impossible to be ruthless.
The next day, Su Yu directly carried her luggage back to the apartment she rented through the company.
Huo Shu seemed to have figured things out too and didn’t come chasing after her.
For the next half month, filming in the crew proceeded as usual. When the two saw each other on set, they merely nodded in greeting.
Su Yu felt relieved, but also faintly disappointed.
After spending so much time together, she’d gotten used to that little girl. Now that she was suddenly gone, it felt oddly unnatural.
As for Huo Shu’s issue, she still hadn’t figured out how to handle it. But for now, it really wasn’t appropriate for the two of them to live together.
Besides, she was still waiting for Ren Qianqiu.
She believed Ren Qianqiu would come looking for her, just like Ling Qingqing had. Aside from her, they had no one else to rely on.
But Ren Qianqiu was stronger than Ling Qingqing.
At the very least, Ren Qianqiu hated Cheng Chen. She hated him to the core!
At 5 p.m., the film crew wrapped up for the day.
There had already been a weather forecast yesterday warning of rain. As soon as she got off the car, a light drizzle began to fall.
Su Yu frowned slightly and opened her umbrella. Her slender high heels stepped onto the ground, splashing a small spray of water.
“Excuse me, how do I get to Building 2, Unit 1?”
A timid-sounding girl’s voice came from not far behind—somewhat familiar.
Su Yu paused and turned around.
Inside the security booth, a girl was holding an umbrella and asking for directions. Her features were soft, but her expression was icy. The stark contrast in her aura made it hard to look away.
“Ah, it’s right there. Just head forward about a hundred meters and you’ll reach it.”
“Thank you.”
Ren Qianqiu politely thanked him, then turned—and immediately caught sight of Su Yu standing not far away.
She was wearing a tight-fitting black dress, her figure graceful and alluring. Beneath the umbrella, her face remained stunning and seductive—even the rain couldn’t diminish her charm one bit.
“Su Yu.”
Ren Qianqiu bit her lip, a flash of embarrassment crossing her face. But that embarrassment vanished quickly.
She took a deep breath, tightened her grip on the umbrella handle, and walked toward Su Yu.
When she was just two steps away, Ren Qianqiu suddenly bent her knees and dropped to the ground.
“Please help me!”
She knelt on the wet pavement, completely humble and desperate.
Su Yu was slightly stunned. She didn’t help her up, simply looked down at her with a leisurely gaze, a bit indifferent. “What, thought it through?”
Ren Qianqiu let out a hum, gritting her teeth. “Somehow the news got out, and those loan sharks found our family again.”
“I… I—”
“That’s enough.”
Su Yu interrupted her, eyelids lifting slightly. “Get up.”
Her tone was casual, as if she wasn’t taking it seriously.
Ren Qianqiu’s heart sank, her body stiffened. But thinking of her parents, she clenched her fists. “If you don’t agree, I’m not getting up.”
Su Yu brushed back her hair and gave a lazy smile. “Trying to morally blackmail me?”
Ren Qianqiu blushed with embarrassment. “No, I… I didn’t mean that. Please let me explain—”
Before she could finish, a cool voice cut her off.
“Come with me.”
Ren Qianqiu jerked her head up and caught sight of a slender and graceful figure walking away.
Her eyes turned slightly red, and she quickly followed.
When they got home, Su Yu changed her shoes and went straight to the bathroom.
Ren Qianqiu carefully removed her shoes at the door, wiping the rain from her forehead—looking a bit awkward.
When Su Yu came out of the bathroom, she immediately saw the nervous-looking girl still standing at the entryway.
She curled her lips slightly, nearly letting out a laugh.
This little thing had been so hostile at first, but now she looked like nothing more than a timid fifteen- or sixteen-year-old girl.
Snapping out of her thoughts, Su Yu tossed her a towel and handed her a set of clothes. “What are you staring at? Go take a shower!”
Ren Qianqiu nodded dumbly and went into the bathroom.
By the time she came out, it was already six o’clock.
Her cheeks were slightly red as she sat on the sofa and spoke in a low voice, “Can you…”
Su Yu crossed her legs and directly cut her off, “How much do you owe?”
“Fifteen… five million.”
“That much?”
Su Yu raised an eyebrow. “Your sister couldn’t have owed that much. She’s not stupid. She’d know that loan sharks bring nothing but trouble.”
Ren Qianqiu’s eyes turned red as she whispered, “We suspected that too, but… they had photos of my sister. They said if we didn’t pay, they’d post them online.”
“You saw the photos?”
“Yes.”
Su Yu leaned back in her seat, chuckling. “Then you still dared to move house? Weren’t you afraid they’d post the photos right away?”
“We were scared at first too.”
Ren Qianqiu pressed her lips together. “But… we just couldn’t pay them back anymore. They were going to take me away, so my parents had no choice but to move.”
“This time when they found us, my dad tried to protect me and got his ribs broken. He’s still in the hospital now.”
At that, Ren Qianqiu couldn’t hold it in anymore. She bent over and sobbed into her knees.
Su Yu sighed softly.
Cheng Chen really had to push them to the edge.
This had to be his doing—no doubt about it. Ren Qianxia wasn’t that foolish. She wouldn’t tie herself up in knots borrowing from loan sharks.
Those people were probably hired by Cheng Chen to threaten Ren Qianqiu’s family and snuff out their desire for revenge.
After all, the Ren family wouldn’t sacrifice their living daughter for the one who had already passed away.
