Today I Will Also Be the Male Protagonist’s Rival - Chapter 26
“Surprised?”
Cheng Chen sneered, his face stern, his eyes bloodshot—he looked every bit like a fierce beast ready to devour its prey.
Ren Qianqiu froze, shivering uncontrollably. “You… what are you doing here?”
Cheng Chen laughed.
That smile held no warmth, only a bone-chilling coldness.
If he hadn’t come, he might still be a fool, toyed with in the palm of someone else’s hand.
Su Yu—she was impressive!
He had been in the entertainment industry for so long, but this was the first time he’d fallen this hard. His reputation, his fans—everything was gone. All thanks to her!
“I should be asking you that.”
Cheng Chen walked past her and looked over at Huo Shu on the sofa, his fists clenched tightly, teeth grinding. “Why are you and Huo Shu here?”
These people shouldn’t have any connection whatsoever, and yet—here they were, all gathered around Su Yu.
Huo Shu was briefly stunned but quickly regained his composure, his expression indifferent. “That has nothing to do with you.”
“Nothing to do with me?”
Cheng Chen suddenly threw his head back and laughed, his eyes full of malice. “Or is it that you’re all just like Ling Qingqing, working for Su Yu?”
The moment he saw Ling Qingqing appear at Su Yu’s door, he had begun to suspect something.
And sure enough!
Su Yu had been lying to him from beginning to end. She had spun a web with her beauty, luring him in without his even realizing it.
How could he possibly accept that?
He had struggled for so many years in the entertainment world, only to have everything collapse in an instant—all because of her!
How could he not hate her?
Cheng Chen clenched his jaw, fists tightening with rage. He growled, “Where’s Su Yu?”
“Where is Su Yu?”
He shoved Ren Qianqiu aside, his expression nearly manic.
“Looking for me?”
A lazy and flirtatious voice suddenly rang out.
Cheng Chen’s head snapped up.
A woman leaned against the bathroom door, dressed in a black gown. Her skin was like porcelain, and her damp, softly curled hair still dripped water, tracing a line downward from the tips.
She raised her eyes languidly, her brows gently furrowed, her tone casual and unbothered.
The pose resembled a rakish young lord with no ambition—but on her, it looked like a picture-perfect painting.
Cheng Chen was momentarily dazed—but then he came to his senses and asked sharply, “Su Yu, was this all your doing?”
“Which part are you referring to?”
Su Yu didn’t take him seriously at all and walked straight to the sofa, tilting her head to look at him. “Mm, if you’re talking about the trending searches… yeah, I did that.”
She nodded, tone calm.
Cheng Chen’s chest heaved in fury. “You—”
Su Yu chuckled and stood, patting his shoulder. “Best Actor Cheng, we’re both adults. Let’s part ways peacefully. If we cross paths again in the future, there’s no need for hard feelings.”
Cheng Chen suddenly gripped her wrist tightly and lowered his voice. “Su Yu, don’t push me!”
“Push you?”
Su Yu tilted her head and smiled charmingly. “And if I do, what then?”
She paused, then asked word by word, “Will you hire a killer? Or do it yourself?”
Cheng Chen’s expression turned ice-cold. He gripped her hand even harder. “How much do you know?”
Su Yu spread her hands innocently.
Cheng Chen narrowed his eyes, the killing intent in his heart swelling. He said coldly, “Women who are too smart never meet a good end.”
Su Yu arched a brow and smiled. “Thanks for the compliment.”
Cheng Chen hated that calm, unbothered demeanor of hers. His hand suddenly tightened around her throat.
He leaned down, whispering coldly in her ear, “Do you believe I could snap your neck with one twist?”
“Cheng Chen, you’re still not ruthless enough.”
Su Yu laughed and glanced at his pocket. “Since you brought a knife, why don’t you use it?”
Cheng Chen panicked and immediately looked down.
Su Yu sneered. Taking advantage of his distraction, she drove her knee upward and broke free from his grip.
Cheng Chen stumbled and fell to the ground, his face going pale. “You tricked me!”
“You’re just too stupid!”
Su Yu sneered, looking down at him from above. “Did you really think I didn’t prepare for this?”
“The moment you stepped through that door, I dialed the police. They should be arriving any minute now.”
“Unlawful entry. Intent to harm.”
She clicked her tongue and leaned down to pat his face. “Cheng Chen, take a guess—just these two charges alone, how long do you think you’ll be locked up?”
“Su Yu!”
Cheng Chen glared at her, eyes bloodshot, as if he wanted to tear her apart.
“Yes?”
Su Yu responded, smiling more seductively than ever. “A triple-award-winning actor arrested for assault—tsk tsk, the tabloids will have a field day.”
Cheng Chen gripped the knife in his pocket tightly and said in a low voice, “At worst, it’s just unlawful entry. I’ll be out in a few days.”
“Oh really?”
Su Yu yawned with feigned carelessness, seemingly unaware of his movements.
Cheng Chen narrowed his eyes and suddenly pulled out the knife.
Su Yu didn’t dodge. Instead, she stepped forward to meet it, laughing lightly. “See? That’s intentional harm, isn’t it?”
Bright red bl00d poured from her abdomen. She smiled beautifully—so striking against the bl00d that it was breathtaking.
Cheng Chen dropped the knife. Looking at her smile, he felt a chill run down his spine and shouted, “Su Yu, you lunatic!”
A lunatic?
Su Yu curled her lips into a smile and thought silently:
“Iron Hammer, beautifully done!”
