Today I Will Also Be the Male Protagonist’s Rival - Chapter 31
“Su Yu?”
A low male voice rose in pitch, dark and hoarse.
Su Yu rubbed her reddened forehead from the bump.
In front of her stood a man in his late twenties. His aura was powerful.
He wore a custom-made pure black suit, tall and slender, with an exceptionally handsome and noble face. But his eyes were filled with cold gloom, enough to make people instinctively afraid.
Jin Licheng?
Su Yu instinctively looked toward Huo Shu.
It seemed that wherever the female lead appeared, the male lead would always show up as well.
This had almost become an unchanging rule.
Jin Licheng’s face darkened. He followed her gaze with a glance to the side but didn’t pay it much attention. His voice grew colder. “I’m talking to you!”
“This doesn’t seem to have much to do with you, does it?”
Su Yu gave a polite smile and walked around him. “You seem to be forgetful. Have you forgotten we already broke up?”
Her tone was calm, like still water in a deep well.
“Su Yu!”
Jin Licheng’s brows furrowed tightly, and he suddenly reached out. “Who are you with?”
“With?”
Su Yu turned her head, smiling with teasing charm. “You want to know?”
Her long brows arched, her eyes half-lidded. When she looked up, every glance was laced with seductive elegance.
Jin Licheng’s expression turned cold, and his hand tightened abruptly. He said in a frosty voice, “If you weren’t with someone else, how could you have gotten in here?”
Just imagining her seductive appearance beneath another man made killing intent surge in his heart.
If he couldn’t have her, he’d rather destroy her.
Su Yu was his. Even in death, she could only be his.
“Third Young Master Jin, since you’ve broken up, it’s better to part ways peacefully. Why make things difficult?”
Huo Shu raised her brows and pulled the girl into her arms. “I brought her in. Is there a problem?”
Jin Licheng’s gaze shifted slightly.
The woman was tall and slender, her features bright and beautiful. The lazy curve of her lips carried a trace of unruly wildness.
So bold!
He opened his mouth but said nothing.
Next to him, someone stepped forward to introduce, “Master Jin, that’s the one from the Huo family.”
Huo Shu?
Jin Licheng suddenly laughed. “Miss Huo, what kind of act are you playing here?”
Huo Shu shrugged. “She’s under my protection.”
“Su Yu?”
“Mm.”
Jin Licheng didn’t speak. After a long pause, his icy gaze swept over Su Yu before he turned and walked away.
Huo Shu didn’t care. She looked down and caught a glimpse of the girl’s downturned profile.
Fair and delicate, with an allure that tugged at the heart.
Her heart skipped a beat, and the tips of her ears turned a bit red.
Huo Shu coughed lightly, rubbed the tip of her nose, and changed the subject. “Did he scare you?”
“How could he…”
Halfway through her sentence, Su Yu looked into her bright eyes and decisively nodded. “Mm.”
Huo Shu laughed and reached out to ruffle her long hair. “What’s there to be afraid of? I’m here.”
Just as she finished speaking, she was suddenly pounced on and hugged tightly.
“Thank you, sis.”
The tail end of her voice drew out, with a teasing, flirtatious tone that made the heart itch.
Huo Shu’s body went half-numb. The warmth and softness in her arms, along with the alluring scent constantly drifting into her nose… for a moment, she really couldn’t resist.
It took quite a while before Huo Shu managed to push her away. “Alright, alright. Sis has things to do, we’ll talk next time.”
Su Yu looked up and watched her retreat in haste, lips curving slightly.
The little crybaby was still the same little crybaby. Even in another world, that shy nature hadn’t changed one bit.
She chuckled softly and turned to head home.
—
Three days later, the paternity test results came out. Amidst a group of hypocritical faces, Su Yu successfully moved into the Su family villa.
At the dining table.
Su Yu ate with her head down. Directly across from her sat Su Yudong. Next to him were the Su family’s matriarch, Du Xue, and Su Qi and Su Xia.
Su Yudong paused his newspaper reading and turned to ask, “Yuyu, I went through great lengths to find you. Shouldn’t we throw a banquet to welcome you properly?”
“No need, Dad.”
Su Yu gently dabbed her lips with a napkin and said softly, “You don’t need to go through all that. Just finding you is already a joy to me.”
Su Yudong looked displeased and said firmly, “That won’t do. I, Su Yudong, acknowledging my daughter—how could such an important matter be treated lightly?”
“Dad, that’s too extravagant.”
“No more discussion. It’s settled. Tomorrow night I’ll host the banquet.”
Su Yudong cut her off directly. After a pause, he smiled and added, “Besides, you’re not that young anymore. Take a look tomorrow and see if there’s anyone you like. I’ll help you make the match.”
Su Yu’s face turned slightly red, a little shy and annoyed. “Dad, I want to spend a few more years with you first.”
Su Yudong burst into laughter. “Look at her getting embarrassed. Come, tell me, is there someone you fancy?”
“Dad!”
Su Yu’s face flushed completely red. Her mixture of shyness and annoyance made her all the more charming.
Du Xue smiled and chimed in, “Yuyu is truly outstanding. She looks just like you—like she was carved from the same mold.”
Su Yudong laughed heartily, clearly very pleased.
“What a pretender!”
Su Xia angrily jabbed her porridge with a spoon and sneered, “White lotus!”
Her voice wasn’t soft—everyone at the table heard it.
Su Yudong’s face darkened. “Xiaxia, is that how you talk to your mother?”
Su Xia muttered, a bit resentfully, “I didn’t say Mom…”
Su Yudong’s anger didn’t subside. He slapped the table hard. “And you think it’s okay to talk to your sister like that?”
“Dad, Xiaxia is still young. Don’t be too harsh on her.”
Su Yu quickly spoke up, looking worried. “Besides, I just arrived. It’s normal for her to not accept me right away. Please don’t scold her.”
“Learn from your sister!”
Su Yudong snorted, tossed aside the newspaper, and walked off.
“You child!”
Du Xue glared at her daughter and chased after him.
“Xiaxia, I have to say, you really need to work on that temper.”
Su Qi scolded and turned to Su Yu, placing a hand on her arm with a smile. “Yuyu, that’s just how she is. Don’t take it to heart.”
Su Yu subtly avoided the touch and smiled politely. “Brother, I won’t hold it against Xiaxia.”
Though she only moved the corners of her lips, her naturally alluring face seemed to tempt all the same.
Su Qi’s eyes lit up. He subconsciously licked his lips. “Yuyu, since you came back so quickly, Auntie didn’t have time to prepare things for you. How about I take you out to pick some?”
Su Yu grew a little impatient and suppressed her irritation. “Thanks, brother, but no need.”
Sensing her firmness, Su Qi looked disappointed but didn’t insist. He tidied himself up and went out.
Su Xia scoffed and looked her up and down. “Su Yu, let me tell you—don’t think just because Dad and Brother like you, you can do whatever you want…”
Now that no one else was around, Su Yu didn’t bother pretending. She leaned back and smiled sweetly. “Sorry, but it looks like I really can do whatever I want.”
“You… I knew you were faking it!”
Su Xia gritted her teeth, chest rising and falling in anger. “Who knows if Dad’s gone blind to fall for someone like you. You’re not worthy of being his daughter!”
Su Yu didn’t get angry. She just smiled and asked, “And you are?”
“Of course I—”
Halfway through her words, Su Xia realized something was wrong. Furious, she raised her hand high—
“Su Xia, what do you think you’re doing!”
A voice shouted angrily from behind.
