Today I Will Also Be the Male Protagonist’s Rival - Chapter 36
“Mr. Jin is here.”
“Please, this way.”
Outside the main hall, the servants’ respectful greetings echoed faintly.
Su Yu looked up.
Jin Licheng was being escorted in. He had handsome features and an air of noble aloofness, but his eyes were dark and cold, giving off a chilling pressure.
“Uncle Dong.”
Jin Licheng nodded slightly in greeting.
“Licheng.”
Su Yudong stood up and laughed heartily. “What wind blew you here today?”
“I’m here to pick up Yuyu.”
Jin Licheng tilted his head to glance at Su Yu, the corners of his lips lifting faintly. “Yuyu, come here.”
Su Yudong’s eyes lit up.
There’s potential!
Since Jin Licheng took over his family’s affairs, he’d always remained distant and reserved—even with elders, he rarely showed emotion. Smiles from him were nearly nonexistent.
But now, seeing this scene, Su Yudong couldn’t help but feel a little moved.
Su Yu frowned.
If Jin Licheng had come looking for her, it definitely wasn’t for anything good!
In the original novel, this scene didn’t exist at all. Which meant, this must be something triggered by Huo Shu’s appearance that had changed his course of action.
Seeing her stand there without moving, Su Yudong grew impatient and patted her shoulder. “Yuyu, go on. Don’t forget what I told you.”
Su Yu snapped out of her daze and walked over slowly, frowning slightly. “What do you want?”
“Don’t want to see me?”
Jin Licheng gave a light chuckle, leaning in to murmur, “But I… really want to see you, Yuyu.”
He dragged out the last syllable, his tone cold and shadowed, like a slick serpent whispering against her ear. It sent a chill down her spine.
With that, he suddenly straightened up and turned to Su Yudong with a calm smile. “Uncle Dong, I’ll take Yuyu to get styled. If it’s about the collaboration, you can talk to my assistant.”
Su Yudong nodded in agreement.
Jin Licheng turned around and dragged Su Yu away.
Once in the car, Su Yu flung his hand off with force, her face darkening. “Jin Licheng, what the hell are you trying to do?”
Jin Licheng didn’t answer her. He only raised his head and instructed, “To the Bay Villa.”
“Yes, sir.”
Su Yu was momentarily stunned. She had a vague suspicion and casually asked, “Why are you taking me there?”
Jin Licheng didn’t respond. He leaned back in the rear seat, eyes shut, his face gloomy.
“Stop the car!”
Su Yu recalled some over-the-top actions of Mary Sue heroines and said coldly, “I want to get off. Jin Licheng, did you hear me?”
“If you don’t stop this car, I’ll jump out!”
“Jump, then.”
Jin Licheng cracked his eyes open and sneered. “Jump, and as long as you don’t die, you’ll still have to obediently come back to me.”
Su Yu: ……
“Iron Hammer, is Jin Licheng okay? Did something snap in his brain?”
【He overheard Jiang Shengzhou talking about marrying you. He’s struggling to process it and plans to take… extreme measures.】
“Such as?”
【Use your imagination!】
“Iron Hammer?”
【Zzz~~】
The other side cut the chat themselves.
Su Yu rubbed her temples.
This Iron Hammer was getting moodier by the day.
She sighed and looked out the window.
Jin Licheng leaned back and chuckled coldly. “Even if people find out it was me who took you, so what? I’d like to see who in all of Xiangjiang dares to meddle in this.”
Su Yu: ?
What bizarre scenario had he come up with this time?
She sighed again and leaned back, closing her eyes.
The car drove for over an hour before finally arriving at the Bay Villa.
Once inside, Jin Licheng dismissed all the servants with a wave.
Only the two of them were left in the grand hall.
Jin Licheng took off his suit jacket and patted the seat beside him. “Yuyu, come here.”
Su Yu ignored him and found another place to sit. “Just say what you want to do.”
Jin Licheng propped up his head and said playfully, “What do you think?”
“Yuyu, just the two of us, alone in a room… what do you think I want to do?”
“Wishful thinking.”
Su Yu raised her eyebrows nonchalantly. “We already broke up. Do you really think I’d entertain you?”
“There it is again!”
Jin Licheng’s eyes turned cold. He growled, “That’s the expression I hate most. Su Yu, what are you pretending to be so high and mighty for?”
“You’re the kind of woman who’ll do anything for money—what right do you have to act proud?”
He sneered, suddenly closing in and grabbing her chin. “Su Yu, just how many people have touched you?”
Su Yu curled her lips into a mocking smile. “Even if I slept with dozens of people, it’s none of your business.”
She tilted her head slightly, her long, alluring peach blossom eyes narrowed in a hint of amusement. “Jin Licheng, don’t tell me… you still have feelings for me?”
Her words struck a nerve. Jin Licheng instantly flushed with shame and anger. His grip on her chin tightened. “How dare you let someone else touch you?”
“If I didn’t touch you, then no one else is allowed to either—I’ll kill anyone who tries!”
He ground his teeth, his eyes bloodshot. “You belong to me. Even in death, you’d be my ghost!”
Su Yu turned her face away.
God, this was way too Mary Sue!
Coming out of Jin Licheng’s mouth, this line was unexpectedly hilarious.
She gave a soft snort and said coldly, “Jin Licheng, you need to understand something—I’ve never belonged to you. I never liked you. Wake up.”
“Then who do you like?”
Jin Licheng’s voice dropped to an icy pitch, eyes blazing. “Jiang Shengzhou?”
Su Yu answered firmly, “No.”
“Then…”
He paused, shifted his tone slightly, and asked, “Is it Huo Shu?”
Su Yu froze, not expecting him to mention that name.
For a moment, the girl’s face reappeared in her mind, eyebrows curved, dazzling and radiant.
Jin Licheng watched her reaction and sneered knowingly. “So it is her?”
“Su Yu, you really are delusional.”
He leaned down, lightly patting her cheek. “Does Huo Shu know about this?”
Su Yu abruptly shoved him away, annoyed. “It’s none of your business. Don’t be so nosy.”
Jin Licheng loosened his tie and scoffed. “If Huo Shu knew, she’d probably stay far away from you. The Huo family only has her this generation. If you dare get involved with her, even as Su Yudong’s daughter, the Huo family won’t spare you.”
Su Yu raised an eyebrow. “And then?”
“Be with me.”
Jin Licheng sat down, voice low. “As long as you behave and stay by my side, I won’t care about anything else.”
“You’ll marry me?”
“No.”
Su Yu couldn’t help but laugh, realizing, “So that’s it… You just want a harem.”
He didn’t respond, but his meaning was clear.
“Ugh, I suggest you get a brain scan.”
Jin Licheng’s face darkened. His tone turned icy. “Su Yu, don’t push me.”
He suddenly leaned in, towering over her with his height, every word laced with threat. “Just because I don’t like to force things… doesn’t mean I won’t.”
Su Yu raised an eyebrow and scoffed. “Jin Licheng, this is why I don’t like you.”
Her brows were fine and arched, her tone laced with disdain. Yet with such a seductive face, it came off almost bewitching.
Jin Licheng’s eyes turned red, all reason gone. Instinctively, he reached for his belt.
“Riiiing—”
A sharp ringtone suddenly pierced the air.
Su Yu turned her head. On the screen, two bold characters flashed clearly:
Huo Shu!
