- Chapter 11 - Acting Skills Only Deserve 20 Points
In the afternoon, Jiang Xu saw from Moments that Zhou Xuning had lost game after game all afternoon.
Zhou Xuning: 【I think I got set up. [Crying face]】
Jiang Xu cracked his knuckles and poked him: “I’ll boost you!”
Zhou Xuning, who had just picked up his books, was interrupted again: “Damn! Do you just not want me to study in peace?!”
Jiang Xu hadn’t even sent the message 【Then you go study properly】 before Zhou Xuning texted back: “Hurry up and log in! I’m inviting you.”
Jiang Xu: “…”
Zhou Xuning’s desire to study was like a pile of sand—gone with the wind.
Jiang Xu lounged on the sofa and queued up with him.
Back in high school, this game had just become popular. Jiang Xu was good at it; he often boosted accounts for pocket money. He wasn’t pro-level, but carrying Zhou Xuning was easy.
Zhou Xuning had only thought: Well, the deadline isn’t here yet. Might as well relax so I can study better later.
But he hadn’t expected Jiang Xu to be this good.
After three wins, Zhou Xuning felt totally refreshed.
When Si Yuhuai came home that evening, he found Jiang Xu still curled up on the sofa gaming.
The butler came over. “Young master, shall we serve dinner now?”
Si Yuhuai’s gaze locked on Jiang Xu. Jiang Xu spotted him, immediately putting on a fawning grin.
“Wow, hubby, you’re home? Was work tiring? Are you exhausted?”
Si Yuhuai: “…”
If only your eyes lingered on me two seconds longer, I could maybe give your acting a 20.
He’d worked all day, and this one had spent it eating, drinking, watching variety shows, and gaming?
How could life be this good?
When he glanced up, he saw the chibi boy avatar above Jiang Xu’s head bouncing around in a maid outfit—the favorability had actually reached 95!
Needless to say, Si Yuhuai knew—this wasn’t his charm. This was the power of money.
As the match was about to end, Jiang Xu said: “Xuning, I can’t keep playing. It’s been two hours already.”
Zhou Xuning, just starting to make back his lost rank: “Don’t! It’s only been two hours!”
“Nope. Too long and your eyes will go bad. I suggest you do a set of eye exercises too.”
The game ended in victory, and Jiang Xu logged off.
Realizing he’d been neglecting his patron for games, he hurried over and, imitating a TV drama sweet wife, helped Si Yuhuai remove his tie.
“Hubby, does your stomach still hurt? Feeling better?” Jiang Xu tilted his face up with a sugary smile. “Tomorrow I’ll wake up early and make you breakfast, won’t let you leave hungry again.”
【If I can wake up.】
【No, out of respect for my patron, I’ll set an alarm.】
【Hmm—this level of patron deserves three alarms.】
【But not sleeping in is torture… do I really have to wake up early?】
【Got it! I can make prepped food tonight. Tomorrow just microwave it!】
Si Yuhuai: “…”
All his tricks for convenience were used on himself.
He asked the system: “So you’re saying in that so-called plot, I was outsmarted by someone with this level of IQ? Are you joking?”
System: “…”
I don’t know where the error is, but in the script, that’s how it went!
Si Yuming still hadn’t shown any trace. With no clue about him, and his own sleepwalking issue, Si Yuhuai grew even more on edge.
He said quietly, “Go eat.”
Then turned and went upstairs.
Jiang Xu was left puzzled—Si Yuhuai’s mood had suddenly sunk.
He wanted to follow, but the butler grabbed his collar.
The butler shook his head. “He’s probably a bit upset. He needs to be alone.”
Jiang Xu sighed. Honestly, he didn’t think Si Yuhuai needed to be this anxious.
After dinner, Zhou Xuning pinged him again to play.
Jiang Xu: “Okay, but after I finish a set of eye exercises.”
Zhou Xuning: “… Are you in elementary school?”
By the time he finished both the exercises and another gaming session with Zhou, it was nearly midnight.
Jiang Xu: “…”
Dead.
No way he’d wake up early tomorrow.
Forget it—he’d butter up the patron the day after.
As expected, Si Yuhuai didn’t come to Jiang Xu’s room that night.
Jiang Xu snuck upstairs to check.
On the balcony table sat an empty wine bottle. No sign of Si Yuhuai inside, but the hallway light was on—he probably hadn’t slept yet.
When Jiang Xu turned, he found Si Yuhuai right behind him, face pale.
Si Yuhuai’s dark eyes held suppressed irritation. “What are you doing?”
This area was basically his domain, so Jiang Xu sneaking around naturally looked suspicious.
Jiang Xu flashed a grin, showing his little tiger teeth—harmless and innocent.
“I… I just wanted to see if you’d gone to bed.”
【Why’s his face so pale? Not feeling well?】
【Why drink so much this late? And on an empty stomach? No wonder his health is shot.】
Si Yuhuai: “…”
Not everyone could eat and sleep like him, carefree.
He’d wanted to take sleeping pills, but after drinking he couldn’t, which only made him more irritable.
Jiang Xu coughed lightly, offering: “Well… I’m heading to bed. Want to come with me?”
【Hmm, he doesn’t look in the mood tonight. Better we sleep separately.】
Just as Jiang Xu was about to slip away, Si Yuhuai grabbed his collar.
Jiang Xu: “…”
Why did everyone love grabbing his collar?
Si Yuhuai could tell Jiang Xu was mocking him in his heart. Dissatisfied, he decided if he couldn’t beat him in shamelessness, he’d find other ways to bully him.
“Want some wine? Helps you sleep.”
Jiang Xu: “…”
“Um, drinking before bed isn’t good. Increases risk of all sorts of health issues. Si Yuhuai, we’re at the age to start living healthy.”
But Si Yuhuai had already poured and held the glass out, one brow arched. “So?”
Jiang Xu: “…”
This toxic drinking culture should really be abolished!
But he couldn’t refuse the patron’s face.
He took the glass, sipped, and instantly made a bitter face.
“Ugh! Disgusting!”
The corners of Si Yuhuai’s lips curved in satisfaction. He drained the rest of Jiang Xu’s glass in one go.
Jiang Xu realized his drinking tolerance was strong, but it barely helped his sleep.
So Jiang Xu said: “Let me give you a massage instead. Stop drinking, okay?”
