- Too Much To Handle! The Canary Forced Love on The Grim/Vicious Villain
- Chapter 6 - Such a Handsome Guy, Too Bad He Talks
Jiang Xu knew the saying “better to offend a gentleman than a petty man.” If he didn’t let Si Yuhai, this grudge-holding demon, vent his anger, who knew when he’d come back to settle the score again.
Si Yuhai was already impatient. Looking at Jiang Xu’s face full of eager expectation made his teeth ache. His head hurt badly enough as it was, and his patience had run dry. So, he decided to give Jiang Xu exactly what he wanted—the simplest, most direct solution.
He grabbed Jiang Xu’s wrist, pressed him down on the bed, and smacked him on the butt.
“There, satisfied now?”
“Yowch!” Jiang Xu jumped straight off the sofa.
【So satisfying!】 Jiang Xu clutched his rear and looked at Si Yuhai, cheeks faintly pink, but his eyes shining even brighter.
“Honey, the whole thing about me poisoning you… let’s call it even, okay? Anyone who brings it up again is a dog!”
Si Yuhai had not expected him to be this excited. Those sparkling eyes looked like they could suck a person right in. And on his palm still lingered the warmth of a certain soft spot.
His toothache got worse.
This brat was ten years younger than him, already looked tender, and now, dressed in a T-shirt and shorts, he really did look like some clueless student.
That single slap had actually stirred up, of all things, a sense of sinful guilt in Si Yuhai—the man who normally had close to zero moral compass.
But then he thought again: they were legally married. What was there to feel guilty about?
At most people would say it was “an old cow eating young grass.”
Seeing Jiang Xu’s flushed cheeks and the way he stared at him with shining eyes, Si Yuhai asked,
“Don’t tell me… you want another smack?”
It was meant to be a threat, but only he knew how hollow it sounded.
Jiang Xu thought he hadn’t punished him enough. In truth, he didn’t dare say his butt really hurt and he didn’t want another, but neither could he defy Si Yuhai. So he stammered,
“If… if you really insist, then I’ll just have to obey.”
Si Yuhai gave a cold laugh.
“Why would I reward you?”
He honestly wanted to hit him again—but worried the brat might actually enjoy it.
At that moment, the butler cleared his throat behind them.
“Master Jiang Xu, dinner is ready.”
“Ah! Coming, coming! I’m starving!”
The instant he heard there was food, Jiang Xu spun around and bolted off.
The butler then turned his gaze to Si Yuhai. Seeing him fidgeting with his ring nonstop, he knew: another storm was brewing.
“Young Master, Dr. Shen said you must come in once this week.”
Si Yuhai acted like he hadn’t heard and walked away.
The butler: “…”
Jiang Xu sat down at the table and saw the spread laid out.
Creamy mushroom pasta, steak, braised prawns, a salad, and seafood soup. The aroma was rich, the plating exquisite.
He’d been hungry the whole day—even though all he’d done was sleep, he still felt drained.
Just as he was about to dig in, the butler came over, his eyes falling on him.
Jiang Xu: “…”
Thinking about how the original host had poisoned Si Yuhai, Jiang Xu suddenly felt guilty. He didn’t know how to face the butler.
But as the butler loomed over him like some ghost, his guilt evaporated in a flash. Instead, his curiosity spiked—maybe this NPC would trigger some key dialogue?
After pondering for a moment, he asked:
“Um… Mr. Butler, am I the first guy your young master has ever brought home? And… has he really not smiled in years?”
The butler: “…”
Smiling politely, the butler replied:
“You are not the first. The first was Young Master Xuning. And as for our young master—he does smile quite often.”
Sneers, cold smirks, twisted grins, mocking laughs… why wouldn’t those count?
Jiang Xu: “…”
The butler patted his shoulder and praised warmly:
“Young man, you needn’t feel inferior. Even if you’re not the most special person to our young master, at least you’re the only one in all these years who nearly killed him. You should know—even back at the old estate, none of those who wanted him dead ever succeeded!”
Jiang Xu: “…”
That’s… quite a compliment. Maybe don’t do it again.
Face burning, Jiang Xu lowered his head.
“I… I know I was wrong.”
He truly had realized his mistake. But the butler went on:
“No matter. Wishing for the young master’s death is the natural thing to do. You only did what any normal person would have wanted.”
Jiang Xu: “…”
What kind of pure hatred speech was that?
Weren’t butlers usually supposed to play wingman?
The butler smiled, watching Jiang Xu’s baffled face.
“I only came to ask if the food suits your taste.”
“I haven’t tried it yet…” Jiang Xu admitted honestly. “But it looks delicious.”
The butler nodded and walked away.
Jiang Xu felt like he had wanted to say more but hadn’t.
Sure, in the story Si Yuhai wasn’t popular, but surely his reputation wasn’t that bad?
He couldn’t figure it out, so he just started eating.
And five minutes later, he had cleared the entire table.
Jiang Xu licked his lips at the empty dishes.
【Still not full.】
But since he was living under someone else’s roof, he didn’t dare eat too much. He could only complain inwardly:
【This butler must be from Shanghai—fancy plating but such tiny portions!】
Upstairs, watching the scene, Si Yuhai frowned.
“Who’s supposed to be full on that? Don’t you know he’s still growing?”
The butler shot back:
“Just the other day, he couldn’t even finish this much. Who knew his appetite would be so big today? Must be your magical touch, young master.”
Si Yuhai thought of the slap he’d given Jiang Xu, and his whole body crawled with goosebumps.
Better not let the brat eat too much.
A full belly leads to… certain thoughts.
After dinner, Jiang Xu rummaged through the fridge, pulling out three peaches, a box of blueberries, and two apples. He dumped them all into a basin for dessert and carried it upstairs.
As he turned the corner of the staircase, he ran into Si Yuhai.
“Um… want some blueberries? They’re good for your eyes.”
【Ah, the bliss of free food and drink! Back then I’d never splurge on blueberries this big.】
Si Yuhai frowned at his words. Just how rough had Jiang Xu’s life been before returning to the Jiang family? The difference in living standards compared to that useless Jiang Rui was stark. But—
Si Yuhai’s gaze drifted to the large stainless steel mixing bowl in Jiang Xu’s arms, usually used for whipping cream.
“You like eating fruit out of a washbasin?”
Jiang Xu: “…”
【Such a handsome guy, too bad he talks.】
Stuffing a sweet blueberry into his mouth, Jiang Xu naturally ignored the sarcasm.
“Don’t like blueberries? What kind of fruit do you like? I’ll wash it for you.”
Jiang Xu ignored his tone and shot back casually:
“How about mango? Since I’m allergic, you could switch to that as your murder weapon.”
Jiang Xu: “…”
【You @#¥%! With how fast your upper lip meets your lower lip, how come you haven’t poisoned yourself to death already? One day, I swear, I’ll kiss you into silence!】
Seething, Jiang Xu bit hard into a peach, stuffing his mouth full so none of his angry words could slip out.
