- Too Much To Handle! The Canary Forced Love on The Grim/Vicious Villain
- Chapter 9 - Sleepwalking Disorder
Jiang Xu was a very open-minded person. He respected any kind of kink. Although he thought blindfolds were a bit childish, since his patron liked it, he could totally play along.
Si Yuhuai had scared the sleep right out of him last night, so Jiang Xu sat on the bed and did a full round of eye exercises before going to the mirror. Only after confirming that his eyes were bright, his vision clear, and everything healthy did he go downstairs to look for food.
The butler had slept soundly for once and was in a good mood when he saw Jiang Xu.
“Master Jiang Xu, it’s time for breakfast.”
Dragging his slippers, Jiang Xu sat down. When he saw there were three whole trays of soup dumplings on the table, he was finally satisfied that he could eat his fill, and his face lit up with joy.
“Thank you, Uncle Sheng.”
The butler smiled. By the time he set the freshly warmed soy milk on the table, one entire tray of dumplings was already gone.
Butler: “…”
He had always thought Si Yuhuai ate fast enough already. Who knew Jiang Xu was even faster?
The butler could hardly imagine the scene if the two of them ate together. Would it look like a pair of stray dogs fighting over scraps?
What surprised him even more was Jiang Xu’s skinny-looking frame hiding a stomach the size of a terabyte hard drive.
The butler gently reminded him: “Master Jiang Xu, you should chew slowly when you eat. It’s better for your health.”
Jiang Xu looked a little embarrassed.
“I’m used to it.”
As a child in the orphanage, meals were crowded with kids all rushing to eat as much as possible, afraid they’d lose out. Later, when he was working hard to debut, meals were hurried too. He’d gotten used to wolfing down food.
Eating slowly? That was truly foreign to him.
Jiang Xu asked, “What about Si Yuhuai? He’s not eating breakfast?”
The butler chuckled and shook his head. “Probably not. He left for the company with a scowl.”
Jiang Xu bit into another dumpling. “Skipping breakfast is terrible for your health!”
Butler: “…”
And stuffing yourself with three trays isn’t?
Si Yuhuai reported to the hospital again, first having his wound redressed before going to the office.
As he sat down, the system spoke:
“Host, your sleepwalking is quite severe. I recommend you see a psychiatrist.”
Si Yuhuai sneered. “Don’t you claim to know the future plot? How come you didn’t know I had sleepwalking?”
Truthfully, even he was confused as to why this was happening to him. Deep down, a faint irritability gnawed at him.
System: “…I only know the written plot, not your personal privacy!”
Si Yuhuai thought back and frowned. “Could it be Jiang Xu framing me and making excuses to stick around, so he made up this nonsense?”
System: “…”
Sleepwalking and paranoia. Host, you’re hopeless.
System: “Host—please watch the VCR!”
The next second, the system pulled up last night’s surveillance footage from the villa.
On screen, it was indeed Si Yuhuai, in pajamas, going downstairs. He smashed the crystal vase at the corner of the staircase and then picked up a shard, gripping it tightly in his hand.
His heart lurched. Even now, his palm still faintly throbbed, and when he saw himself clenching that shard, his hand trembled involuntarily.
Next, the footage showed the butler running out.
The butler observed him for a moment, called his name twice, but Si Yuhuai didn’t respond.
Perhaps afraid of startling him, the butler didn’t push further and simply stood by.
Not long after, Jiang Xu came downstairs.
He also called his name a couple times, then slipped his own hand into Si Yuhuai’s palm and held on.
He led him to the sofa and gently coaxed him into releasing the shard.
Si Yuhuai frowned.
“When I’m sleepwalking, I was this obedient? He told me to walk, and I just walked with him?”
System: “…”
“Is that really the point here? Host, at this rate, you won’t even need Si Yuming to come after you—you’ll just off yourself first! You’re sick, go get treated! Stop avoiding doctors!”
Si Yuhuai crossed his legs, lounging back in his chair.
“You can rewind VCRs, but you can’t treat me?”
System: “Host, you’re being unreasonable.”
Si Yuhuai smirked. “Are you even human? No—you’re trash.”
The system nearly exploded with fury: “…”
Could someone please shut this man’s mouth?
His gaze was still fixed on the screen. Around midnight, the butler had gone back upstairs, leaving Jiang Xu sitting with him on the sofa.
At first, Jiang Xu seemed to want to escape, but because Si Yuhuai was gripping him, he stayed. He even let Si Yuhuai rest his head on his shoulder, holding him close.
After about ten minutes, Jiang Xu coaxed him upstairs to bed.
Si Yuhuai’s eyes lingered on the hands clasped together.
Tightly held. Secure.
He raised an eyebrow, struck by a sudden thought.
“Didn’t expect you to be good for something after all. So—you can show me what Jiang Xu is doing right now?”
System, smug: “Host, you’ve barely tapped even one percent of my functions.”
In the next second, the system proudly displayed another live feed.
Si Yuhuai: …
Jiang Xu was curled up on the sofa with a fruit bowl, snacking again.
How could this guy eat nonstop?
Wait a second.
He had rushed to the hospital that morning and hadn’t had a single hot bite all day. Meanwhile, Jiang Xu had finished breakfast and was now onto fruit. Who was supposed to be the capitalist here?
Why did he feel like the underpaid worker?
Just then, a knock came at the office door.
Li Xiujie entered with a plastic bag containing a batch of steamed buns. They’d just come out of the steamer but had sat in the bag long enough to gather condensation.
Li Xiujie pursed his lips. “Boss, this is… cough, this is the breakfast your husband ordered for you.”
【What kind of hole-in-the-wall restaurant is this from? Won’t this cause food poisoning?!】
At that moment, Si Yuhuai’s phone buzzed with Jiang Xu’s text:
【Hubby! Don’t forget to eat breakfast! Love you (^- )】
Si Yuhuai: “…”
He looked at the buns and suddenly smiled, picking one up and glancing at Li Xiujie with dark, glimmering eyes.
“Xiujie, have you had breakfast?”
Li Xiujie instantly felt a bad omen as he met that smile. His mind spun: 【If I say yes, it looks disrespectful. But if I say no, he’ll force-feed me, won’t he?!】
While he hesitated, Si Yuhuai had already taken a bite, and it actually looked… decent.
Li Xiujie: 【…To hell with it. If I die, at least the boss will go down with me.】
So he forced a professional smile. “Not yet, Boss.”
“Then please, have one.”
The buns weren’t that big—two bites for an adult.
The taste wasn’t bad, but staring at that cheap plastic bag, Li Xiujie couldn’t help worrying if it was toxic. Seriously, the food safety department needed to check places like this.
At noon, when Si Yuhuai finished work and stepped out, he only saw the secretary.
“Where’s Li Xiujie?”
The secretary gave a sweet smile. “Assistant Li wasn’t feeling well. Seems he ate something bad. He went to get an IV drip during lunch break.”
