Transmigrated as a Cannon Fodder Alpha in a Scum Alpha Novel (GL) - Chapter 17
Even though the third female lead was gone and the crew delayed the start of filming, the scheduled start-up ceremony remained unchanged.
Many media outlets and fans showed up in full force. Fu Suihan didn’t want to make an appearance, and the crew, for publicity reasons, decided to keep the identity of the “second female lead” a secret, aiming for a surprise.
And now, the “surprise” herself sat in a corner of the dressing room, able to see Song Shixue in front of the makeup mirror with just a turn of her head.
The woman’s eyes were slightly closed, letting others do her makeup and hair. The start-up ceremony was just for publicity, not formal, so her attire was more casual.
The makeup artist politely praised her “coolness” while applying makeup. Song Shixue seemed accustomed to it, simply smiling faintly without responding.
Only Fu Suihan watched those lustrous lips, silently retorting in her mind, Not cool.
For no reason, she recalled last night’s dream. It was still that car, in the dim garage, but inside the car, only she and Song Shixue were present. It was still the same posture, the Omega’s damp breath fanning her neck, the inhibitor patch torn off, and Song Shixue cupping her hand, gently kissing her fingertips.
The woman’s lips were soft, just like Song Shixue herself when she was by her side, warm and soft.
Because of this dream, Fu Suihan didn’t sleep for half the night, flipping through the script on the balcony until she was “woken up” by Song Shixue, who was up early, and came to the set.
Brief sleep wouldn’t burden Fu Suihan mentally, but this body, having been “nourished” for several months, inevitably had a pale complexion. When she lifted her face, the dark circles under her eyes were noticeable, so much so that even the makeup artist beside her couldn’t bear to see it and suggested, “Sister Fu, how about I do your makeup too?”
Fu Suihan was startled, then replied, “It’s a waste for me to wear makeup too. You go do something else.”
Before the makeup artist could respond, Fu Suihan, noticing Song Shixue turn her head to look, had already lowered her head. Her fingers made mechanical sliding movements, very obedient, as if the unrestrained gaze earlier hadn’t originated from her.
Soft music played in the dressing room. It wasn’t until all the makeup artists had left that Song Shixue finally spoke: “About last night, I’m sorry.”
Fu Suihan hadn’t expected the other person to bring up this topic again. Her back stiffened, unsure how to respond, only managing a dry grunt.
Song Shixue’s eyes held a smile as she said nonchalantly, “Later, I thought about it carefully. If you don’t come to my place, I can—”
Fu Suihan decided not to speak to Song Shixue for half an hour.
••••
The opening ceremony was packed with people, and many fan media had come in full force. Fu Suihan didn’t need to appear on camera, so she disguised herself and blended into the Alpha group. However, her tall stature and outstanding demeanor meant that soon after she stood still, an Alpha came over to strike up a conversation.
Glancing at the girl in front of her, who wasn’t even as tall as her collarbone, Fu Suihan: “…”
“Excuse me.” After thinking for a moment, Fu Suihan said seriously, “I’m not AA.”
The other person, however, seemed to have heard a shocking secret and said incredulously, “You’re not AA, so why are you constantly looking at Shixue?”
Fu Suihan: ?
What did that have to do with Song Shixue?
The other party wasn’t in the mood to explain and left huffily. Fu Suihan could only search for herself. The results were simple: Alphas in the ABO world were inherently ambitious and looked down on most of their own kind. Therefore, many Alpha artists had a difficult path in the entertainment industry, and most popular stars were Betas.
Until Song Shixue’s appearance a few years ago. She was exceptionally talented, had outstanding looks, and embodied both beauty and tragedy, winning first place in the “Most Alpha Artist in Alpha Hearts” award in her debut year.
As of this year, she had topped this list seven times, reaching a point where even random Alphas would praise her by saying, “She’s so Alpha.”
There were too many complaints, and Fu Suihan didn’t know where to start. The Song Shixue data fan beside her started discussing recent trending topics again, repeatedly bringing up “Fu Suihan” to mock and criticize her. Fu Suihan remained silent for a few seconds, then quietly pulled up her mask, afraid of being recognized.
Enduring for a moment brings peace.
Fu Suihan’s mind was calm, and she even had the leisure to scroll through her feed. After months of curation, her alternate account only displayed content related to Song Shixue, and it was no different now. A quick scroll of her homepage showed only perfectly edited photos of Song Shixue attending events.
She was halfway through liking a post when she saw an edited video. She put on her headphones, ready to enjoy it seriously, but her shoulder was tapped.
Fu Suihan paused, looked up, and saw her own face on the big screen: “…”
The other actors, who also recognized her: “…………”
It wasn’t until an excited fan beside her took the flowers handed over by a staff member that Fu Suihan realized it was the fan interaction segment.
The fan on stage stumbled over her words, expressing her admiration. As Fu Suihan listened, her gaze never left Song Shixue’s smiling face, and she couldn’t help but uncontrollably recall that dream.
The entire ceremony was mainly interviews and interactions. The process wasn’t long and concluded in a few hours.
It wasn’t until Song Shixue sent a message that Fu Suihan finally snapped out of her daze. She changed her outfit, once again playing the role of an assistant, and helped Song Shixue collect handmade gifts.
In Song Shixue’s hotel suite, one room was specifically used to store these items. They would only be taken back to the manor after filming ended.
The mountains outside the window undulated. Fu Suihan noticed that this wasn’t the usual way back to the hotel, and she looked at Song Shixue with confusion.
Song Shixue said, “I’m taking you to meet a friend.”
Author’s Notes:
Xiao Fu: (Baidu Baike) What does it mean when a senior who has helped me a lot takes me to meet her equally prominent industry friends?
Baidu’s answer: She wants her friends to help you too. She loves you so much.
