Transmigrated as a Cannon Fodder Alpha in a Scum Alpha Novel (GL) - Chapter 19
When Fu Suihan found Song Shixue, the latter was reshooting a scene.
Qi Yuan, behind the camera, waved slightly at her. Fu Suihan then joined her, both looking at Song Shixue on the monitor.
The woman was dressed in a vibrant red palace gown that trailed on the ground. The hairpins on her head trembled slightly as she spoke, and her eyes held a hint of almost imperceptible timidity.
The actor she was playing opposite struggled to match her performance, and after the shoot ended, stood in a daze for a long time. Song Shixue, on the other hand, got into character quickly and out of it even faster. With a slight pursing of her lips, the timidity in her eyes vanished without a trace.
She looked directly at Fu Suihan behind the camera, and the coldness belonging to “Song Shixue” melted into water again, leaving only a faint smile, as if she were born that way.
The series of micro-expressions happened in an instant, leaving Qi Yuan in awe.
On the first day of official filming, Song Shixue didn’t specifically ask for special meals, only eating the set lunch boxes uniformly ordered by the crew.
However, she had many dietary restrictions. Fu Suihan sat obediently beside her, helping her pick out vegetables while answering her questions about her own filming one by one. Fu Suihan hadn’t intended to mention Qiao Shu, but Song Shixue asked as if casually, “Speaking of which, how did that Omega you were acting with perform?”
The more relaxed she seemed, the more Fu Suihan suspected a trick. She paused, then looked up at Song Shixue’s eyes, which reflected her own image: “…There were a few issues during filming, but it was within an acceptable range.”
“Is that so?”
Song Shixue rested her chin on her hand, staring at Fu Suihan, as if trying to confirm something, or perhaps just observing.
Fu Suihan slightly raised an eyebrow: “Otherwise?”
Song Shixue’s lips curved. She didn’t press further, nor did she explain her intention for asking. She simply lowered her gaze and quietly ate her meal in small bites.
Fu Suihan increasingly felt that she was like a cat. She was aloof and serene when something didn’t concern her, just wanting to quietly bask in the sun. But when it came to things and people she cared about, she would subtly reveal her claws, threatening others and also the people she cared about.
People she cared about…?
Fu Suihan paused for a few seconds at this phrase, but ultimately didn’t dismiss it.
For the next few days, the female Omega, Qiao Shu, was very well-behaved in all her scenes opposite Fu Suihan. If a scene could be done in one take, she wouldn’t waste any time. Similarly, she no longer persistently cursed Fu Suihan with a look of utter madness, but rather avoided her whenever possible.
Fu Suihan liked peace and quiet, but she could also tell when someone was deliberately avoiding her. She intended to ask about it, but was stopped by Qi Yuan’s assistant after filming concluded. The reason was simple: the third female lead would be joining the crew soon, and today was for her costume fitting.
The filming studio was covered in green screens for post-production.
On stage, Fu An was shooting a two-person photo with the Beta actor playing the emperor. Although the latter’s fame wasn’t on par with Fu An’s, he was a steady, capable actor who relied on his talent. The two collaborated smoothly, finished quickly, and walked towards Song Shixue.
Fu Suihan naturally made herself into background, but after exchanging pleasantries with Song Shixue, Tao Wei smiled at Fu Suihan and said, “You must be Xiao Fu, right? Fu An has been telling me about you recently. I’m looking forward to working with you soon.”
Fu Suihan, who suddenly understood why the entertainment industry was called a “circle”: “…”
After some small talk, Fu Suihan and Tao Wei exchanged contact information. Throughout, Song Shixue’s reaction was indifferent, only occasionally responding to Fu An’s questions. It wasn’t until the two left and Fu Suihan looked at her that she shrugged, completely innocent: “I don’t know.”
This time, she genuinely didn’t know.
But her original intention in introducing Fu Suihan to Fu An was to have the latter introduce her network to Fu Suihan, so it was roughly the same.
Fu Suihan understood the intention and habitually wanted to express her thanks, but Song Shixue spoke before her: “You’re welcome.”
Fu Suihan let out a soft, amused laugh.
The photo shoot itself wasn’t difficult.
No matter how much the investors could stir up trouble, the people they put in were attractive faces that met the standard. Good-looking people are hard to get bad photos of under professional hands, and with professionally custom-made costumes, there was an immediate feeling of characters from a book stepping into reality.
After the individual costume photos were taken, Qi Yuan had a sudden idea: “How about we take a few more two-person costume photos?”
Most people didn’t understand her intention, so naturally, whatever the director said, went.
Fu Suihan instinctively felt something was off, and this “offness” was fully confirmed when the photographer specifically asked her to put her hand on Song Shixue’s shoulder.
Yet, everyone’s gaze was fixed on them. Fu Suihan could only stiffly reach out, her palm resting on the woman’s shoulder. Only then did she realize that Song Shixue had a very small frame; her hand could completely encompass it.
Fu Suihan felt her ears burning, and yet the photographer kept asking her to “smile,” to convey that complex warmth between the two characters.
Fu Suihan felt it would be easier to just die on the spot.
Fu Suihan finished the shoot with a stiff expression and was in a daze for the rest of the afternoon. Fortunately, the scenes that day were just about Shen Miaomiao’s usual bad temper, so she recited her lines with a cold face, and the assistant director found it surprisingly fitting, never calling for a stop.
At night, Fu Suihan waited for Song Shixue as usual. Song Shixue finished work early today and was chatting with Qi Yuan. As Fu Suihan approached, she overheard Qi Yuan’s thoughtful remark: “Actually, a ‘childhood sweethearts around childhood sweethearts’ theme isn’t bad. Do you want to film this kind of drama?”
Fu Suihan stiffened, inevitably recalling their interaction that afternoon. She held her breath, curious about the answer to this question, and unconsciously lowered her face, only to meet Song Shixue’s gaze, full of stars.
“A same-s3x drama, huh.” Song Shixue paused, captivating everyone’s attention, then said, “It depends on who I’m acting with.”
Fu An, wrapped in a large coat, sat to the side, letting the makeup artist remove her hair accessories, and interjected, “Can I?”
Song Shixue said, “I don’t like Betas.”
The same line, yet Fu Suihan felt her heart being struck by something. She heard someone loudly say, “Movie Queen Song, I’m an Omega, I’ll act with you.”
This time, Song Shixue didn’t respond again.
Amidst the cheerful chatter, only Fu Suihan noticed the gentle gaze Song Shixue cast towards her. It was like an invitation, yet also an appeasement.
Appease what?
Fu Suihan still hadn’t figured it out by the time they got into the car back to the hotel.
Words of inquiry hovered on her lips several times, yet she swallowed them down. Fu Suihan’s scenes had been very heavy these past few days, working continuously, so she was inevitably a bit tired and closed her eyes.
The night was inky, and the stars and moon hung low. The female Alpha’s face was even more attractive in the dim light.
Song Shixue turned off her phone, turned her head, and again remembered the feeling of being touched by Fu Suihan that afternoon. Soft, warm.
If only she could get a little closer to Fu Suihan.
Just the thought caused Song Shixue’s gland to heat up. Even as she curbed her thoughts, she simply gazed at Fu Suihan. Silent, utterly quiet, as if she had been this quiet for many years before this moment.
It wasn’t until the car was halfway there, noticing the subtle change in the female Alpha’s breathing, that she smiled again.
Song Shixue said nonchalantly, “Xiao Fu?”
Silence. Fu Suihan quietly opened her eyes. In the darkness, she was very sure that with an Omega’s perception, Song Shixue couldn’t confirm if she was awake.
But the next second, the woman’s body naturally leaned against her. They were very close, and the next second, her voice seemed to transmit directly from her ear bone to her heart.
Song Shixue’s lips curved upward, but there was no laughter in her voice, only a hint of weariness: “I’m tired too. Let me lean on you for a bit.”
Fu Suihan didn’t reply, but by the time they reached their destination, she understood the meaning of Song Shixue’s gaze.
—I won’t act with others, but if you want to, I can act with you.
