Transmigrated as a Scum Alpha Cannon Fodder, Sweetly Pampering the Heroine - Chapter 2
Xu Jinman finished speaking with unwavering conviction, but when she looked up, she saw Shen Shu’s expression clearly saying, “Keep pretending.” She felt quite awkward.
It was indeed difficult to explain with just words, but the hospital should be able to provide a certificate.
As she pondered this, Xu Jinman’s palm suddenly went empty. Shen Shu had already withdrawn her hand, her breathing uneven as she leaned against the cold ceramic tiles. She clearly couldn’t stand properly but refused to collapse against Xu Jinman.
“Should we go outside first?” Xu Jinman asked.
Shen Shu’s fingertips twitched slightly. Xu Jinman guessed she was still wary after the two Alphas had barged in earlier. “You need to rest now,” she continued, “but if you don’t want to stay here, I can arrange for someone to take you wherever you want to go. Or would you prefer to contact someone yourself?”
The Omega before her remained in a highly agitated state. Though she still maintained a semblance of composure, her body had unconsciously drifted toward the glass door, almost pressing against the right-angled corner.
She felt deeply insecure.
Therefore, every question Xu Jinman asked was framed as an inquiry, giving Shen Shu complete control over the decision.
After a few seconds of silence, Shen Shu finally spoke, her soft voice still tinged with suspicion: “You’re really willing to let me go?”
This time, Xu Jinman didn’t reply. She turned and opened the bathroom door, retrieved her phone from her bag, and held it out to Shen Shu from a distance of two steps. “I said I wouldn’t harm you, and I won’t.”
During her heat cycle, the Omega needed rest above all else. Shen Shu wouldn’t be able to relax here.
Xu Jinman glanced over and met Shen Shu’s scrutinizing gaze. Their eyes locked for a moment before Shen Shu reached out and took the phone, but she didn’t react immediately.
Xu Jinman averted her gaze, bending down to pick up the clothes from the floor. The gold threads on the wedding robe shimmered under the bright light. She noticed the violently torn knot buttons and realized there were indeed red marks on Shen Shu’s neck.
Xu Jinman casually tossed the clothes into the trash can.
It was the first time she’d been treated like a wolf to be guarded against. She shook her head in resignation.
She walked into the inner room.
Suddenly, there was a sound from the bathroom behind her.
The Omega’s voice was slightly hoarser than before. In the empty bathroom, that rasp was amplified, causing Xu Jinman to pause her search for clothes.
Less than half a minute later, the call ended.
Xu Jinman stood silently, her gaze fixed on Shen Shu’s silhouette visible through the frosted glass. Shen Shu’s back was slightly hunched, but her overall outline remained clear, even more striking through the hazy distortion.
Yet, in the heart of Xu Jinman, an outsider who had read the first half of the novel, an indescribable complexity stirred.
In Brutal Lover, Shen Shu had been adopted by her foster parents, but she had been raised like a precious treasure by her grandmother since childhood. Only after her grandmother’s death did she return to the Shen Family.
By this time, Shen Shu’s adoptive parents already had their own biological son, a rare S-Rank Alpha in this world. Naturally, they looked down on her. However, the family soon discovered another advantage Shen Shu offered: her beauty and talent could bring them commercial benefits.
Their greed and selfishness made it easy for the original Shen Shu to force them into submission.
Yet Shen Shu… chose to sacrifice her entire life, bowing to their demands, not just for their sake, but also for her deceased grandmother.
This was why, in the novel, Shen Shu didn’t immediately leave her original body after this ordeal. But all of this was merely the turning point for Shen Shu’s fiery rebirth.
However, the current Shen Shu couldn’t see things so clearly yet, still clinging to hope for the Shen Family.
In this state of shock, isolated and helpless in an unfamiliar environment, Shen Shu’s first thought was still of the meager familial affection she had with the Shen Family.
Xu Jinman casually threw on a jacket, grabbed a beige trench coat, and walked out, stopping at a safe distance from Shen Shu. “I’m leaving now. Change the password yourself. As long as you don’t want it, no one will ever come here again.”
There was no sound from the bathroom. Xu Jinman cautiously took a step closer until she could finally see inside.
Shen Shu stood with her head bowed, her thin lips pressed tightly together. Her long, slightly curled black hair cascaded loosely, with only a few strands falling across her collarbones. The delicate straps of her dress hung precariously on her shoulders, the fabric draping naturally to reveal a breathtaking curve at her chest. A traditional Chinese pleated wedding skirt enveloped her from waist to hips.
Xu Jinman touched her throbbing neck again, the glands now visibly protruding. A strange, unfamiliar sensation spread through her body. Though still painful, it was no longer as unbearable as before, replaced by a sense of relief, as if she had overcome a critical threshold.
Before she could fully process this, Shen Shu’s body collapsed before her like a kite with a severed string.
Xu Jinman’s heart leaped. Reacting swiftly, she lunged forward and caught Shen Shu in her arms just before she hit the floor. The impact of her own back against the tiled wall echoed dully in the bathroom.
She coughed twice, jolted back to awareness by the searing heat against her chest. Shen Shu pressed against her steadily beating heart, gasping for breath. Every hot, damp exhalation from the Omega’s mouth seemed to seep into Xu Jinman’s skin.
Xu Jinman noticed the temperature of the skin beneath her fingertips rising rapidly. Even more puzzling, the Omega pheromones in the air had intensified again.
“Shen Shu!”
Shen Shu felt her body burning up, as if it no longer belonged to her. The pheromones within her were in complete disarray, as if she had been brutally run over by a train. Her glands felt like they were about to tear apart, every inch of her body trembling in agony.
The pain and heat tormented her.
Though a sliver of consciousness and reason remained, she was still unable to pull herself off Xu Jinman…
In her dazed state, she was enveloped by the scent of sunlight—the pheromones radiating from the Alpha.
She realized with despair that Xu Jinman had deceived her again. The suppressant was fake, and her promise to let her go was a lie.
Of course, Xu Jinman was an Alpha. How could she possibly carry an Omega’s suppressant? It was all a sham!
Hell awaited her.
Why is my life like this?
She refused to accept it.
Xu Jinman sensed something was wrong. Shen Shu’s breathing was short and rapid, even more severe than during her earlier episode, and every few breaths were punctuated by pained whimpers.
The suppressant should have worked. She couldn’t understand why it was ineffective for Shen Shu.
Frowning, she called out several more times, but there was no response. A quick glance around revealed no sign of Shen Shu’s phone.
Xu Jinman gripped Shen Shu’s shoulders and helped her sit up. Her gaze fell on Shen Shu’s face—the Omega looked like a beauty trapped in a nightmare, her brow furrowed, cheeks flushed crimson, and long lashes glistening with tears.
Was she crying?
Xu Jinman’s brows knitted together. She couldn’t stand seeing girls cry.
In the novel, the female lead was proud and strong-willed. For her to be crying while Xu Jinman was still present… how much pain must she be in?
Xu Jinman wrapped an arm around Shen Shu’s shoulders and slipped her other arm under her knees, intending to carry her to the sofa before searching for the phone. As she shifted, she belatedly realized something was pressing against her lower abdomen.
Looking down, she saw the phone wedged beneath the folds of their wedding robes, the fabric clearly divided into light and dark patches by the sweat-soaked creases.
As she reached for the phone, Shen Shu, feverish and trembling, let out a soft moan. Xu Jinman froze, her mind reeling as if struck by a violent blow. The suppressed arousal, unable to be contained, erupted from every pore of her skin.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows lay the pitch-black night, yet every inch of Xu Jinman’s body, from her skin to her internal organs, felt scorched by the sun.
The glands in her neck throbbed with excruciating pain, as if an air pump were relentlessly inflating them. Just as she feared her neck would explode, the discomfort abruptly vanished.
Whether it was her imagination or not, Shen Shu’s breathing seemed to slow slightly.
Xu Jinman didn’t hesitate. She scooped Shen Shu into her arms and gently laid her on the nearby sofa before dialing a number on her phone.
In this city, each district had specialized hospitals for Alphas and Omegas, with emergency medical services further tiered into S, A, B, C, and D ranks.
S-Rank AOs, comprising one-tenth of the population, received the highest level of care. Xu Jinman, a failed Omega, barely qualified for C-Rank status.
Yet she had no concerns about the speed of the medical team’s arrival. The reason was simple: the Xu Family was the largest investor in the entire North-South District Hospital system. Everyone knew the Xu elders doted on Xu Jinman as if she were their own lifeblood—in essence, she was no different from a Crown Prince.
After making the call, Xu Jinman searched the room thoroughly but found no Inhibitor Patches. She only discovered a bottle of Pheromone Dissolving Spray in the bedroom. This spray could neutralize some pheromones in the air. After sealing the doors and windows, she sprayed it liberally throughout the room.
Xu Jinman refocused her gaze on the sofa. The high fever had steamed Shen Shu’s face, leaving it flushed like a freshly washed peach, though her rose-colored lips appeared matte from dryness.
Suddenly, Xu Jinman felt a parchedness in her throat.
After finishing a full glass of water, Xu Jinman poured a cup of lukewarm water and approached the sofa. She sat down beside Shen Shu, her slender white arm reaching across Shen Shu’s damp back to help her sit up.
A crimson haze blurred Shen Shu’s vision. Her body felt as if it were pressed against a steaming sponge—hot, damp, and soft enough to sink into. She couldn’t tell if this was dangerous, only an endless unease…
Xu Jinman held the cup for a moment, but Shen Shu barely drank. Gently pressing her index finger against Shen Shu’s lower lip, Xu Jinman could see the soft pink flesh inside her mouth and her pearly white teeth.
The glass was brought to Shen Shu’s lips again, and after a moment, Xu Jinman laid her back down.
By now, Xu Jinman was covered in another layer of sweat. A thought struck her, and she lowered her gaze to the Omega on the sofa.
Xu Jinman went to the bathroom, wrung out a lukewarm towel, and gently wiped the sweat from Shen Shu’s face. When she reached Shen Shu’s jawline, her movements abruptly paused.
A glistening trail of water traced a path from the corner of Shen Shu’s lips, down her jaw, neck, and finally trembled to a stop five finger-widths below her collarbone.
