Transmigrated as a Scum Alpha Cannon Fodder, Sweetly Pampering the Heroine - Chapter 3
Xu Jinman had initially planned to change Shen Shu’s clothes before the doctor arrived, but she abandoned the idea.
Partly due to her orientation, and partly because anything she did while pretending to be an Alpha felt like sexual harassment.
She draped her clean coat over Shen Shu just as the doctor arrived with several nurses.
The moment the white-uniformed medical team entered the room, their expressions subtly shifted.
Even the Betas among them could feel the lingering pressure from the Alpha pheromones in the air. Though they encountered Alphas of all ranks daily, they had never encountered such potent pheromones before.
The lead doctor, who specialized in Xu Jinman’s emergency care and knew her secrets intimately, immediately recognized that these pheromones couldn’t be hers.
The moment he smelled the Alpha pheromones and saw the unconscious Omega on the sofa, he immediately guessed what had happened.
Xu Jinman, that outrageous Omega heiress, had done something so scandalous on her very first day of marriage as an Alpha.
Shocked by the sheer audacity of it, he felt even more pity for the woman on the sofa. Beicheng’s universally acknowledged “abstinence goddess” now being treated like this… it was truly heartbreaking.
He cautiously asked Xu Jinman, “Miss Xu, are you and your wife the only ones in the room right now?”
Xu Jinman looked puzzled. “Yes, why?”
Who else would be here?
The doctor nodded and hurried over to the sofa with his team to examine the patient. After a moment, he stood up and said, “Your wife’s condition is likely due to a combination of fever and the influence of Alpha pheromones. She’s stable now, but I recommend a hospital checkup.”
Alpha pheromones? Could it be because of the two men who barged in earlier?
Without hesitation, Xu Jinman followed them to the hospital.
While waiting in the corridor, a middle-aged man with glasses approached her and greeted her politely. Xu Jinman glanced at the ID badge on his chest and smiled back. “Professor Qin.”
Professor Qin stared at Xu Jinman’s smile in astonishment for a few seconds.
He glanced at the patient room and quickly adopted a friendly expression. “Miss Xu, your wife will need some time. Her monthly checkup is already a week overdue. Would you mind…?”
Xu Jinman agreed readily. “Of course. Thank you for your trouble.”
Professor Qin was speechless.
Thank you for your trouble? To hear those words from Eldest Miss Xu… Has she taken some kind of medicine?
Xu Jinman’s attention wasn’t on Professor Qin; she was thinking that the first step to getting Shen Shu to lower her guard was to reveal her own Omega identity.
Words alone wouldn’t suffice. Wouldn’t the medical report be the best proof?
The examination and report took an hour and a half. Xu Jinman grabbed a bl00d test report and was about to leave when Professor Qin stopped her.
“Are you experiencing any discomfort?”
Xu Jinman shook her head, then paused. “I feel a little discomfort here,” she said, pointing to the location of her neck glands. So there was something wrong with her original body after all?
Professor Qin frowned slightly as he reviewed the report on the computer. “All your Omega indicators are below the standard range, and you’re exhibiting symptoms of Glandular Discomfort Symptoms… To be safe, I recommend hospitalization for observation.”
As he spoke, he carefully watched Xu Jinman’s reaction. In the past, she would have refused. But the report was undeniably abnormal, and he couldn’t afford to take any chances. If she refused, he would have to ask Madam Lu to intervene.
To his surprise, Xu Jinman nodded immediately. “Alright, you can arrange it.”
Given Xu Jinman’s uncharacteristic cooperation, Professor Qin, moved by her compliance, offered a parting blessing as she left: “Miss Xu, I forgot to wish you a happy wedding.”
Xu Jinman stood at the doorway and glanced back at him. Her wife had been admitted to the hospital on their wedding day—hardly a joyous occasion.
Professor Qin: “……” Well, that look still belongs to the old devil.
Shen Shu opened her eyes. Snow-white walls, sunlight streaming through the window, the antiseptic smell, and familiar murmuring voices.
She had finally recovered from her near-death experience, yet the terror of last night felt as fresh as if it had just happened. She had sensed something was wrong as soon as she reached the door and tried to retreat, but Xu Jinman had dragged her inside.
She fled from the entrance to the bathroom, her clothes torn apart by Xu Jinman…
At this memory, Shen Shu gasped for breath.
Now, looking back, everything—from the simple wedding ceremony to the hangover candies at the end, even the timing of their arrival at the secluded bridal chamber—had been meticulously planned.
But why had Xu Jinman ultimately spared her? The moment she smelled the Alpha pheromones, she had braced herself for forced marking and worse.
“Shu Shu, you’re awake?! Are you feeling better? Is anything still hurting?”
Footsteps approached the door, and Shen Shu turned to see Cai Ying rushing in.
Shen Shu shook her head. “I’m just weak from the bl00d loss. Otherwise, I feel fine. What are you doing here?”
Cai Ying, a 19-year-old Omega of mixed Chinese and British heritage, had light curly hair and striking, deep-set features. Despite her youth, she was the only person Shen Shu had truly connected with in Beicheng over the past two years.
“Xu Jinman called me last night,” Cai Ying said, pressing her lips together. “When she said you were in the hospital, I panicked. What exactly happened?”
“Xu Jinman?” Shen Shu’s expression tightened slightly. This wasn’t Xu Jinman’s usual behavior, and her actions yesterday had also been out of character. “What did she say?”
Cai Ying raised the bed, poured a cup of hot water, and sat down beside Shen Shu. “She said… she might have taken the wrong medication.”
Cai Ying recalled Xu Jinman’s strange demeanor the previous night. Something had felt off, though she couldn’t quite place it. She glanced at Shen Shu’s pale face, now drained of color, her expression unreadable.
Her gaze drifted to the collar of Shen Shu’s hospital gown, where faint shadows still lingered over the red marks. She regretted asking the question; Xu Jinman must have done something unforgivable to Shen Shu last night.
A heavy feeling settled in Cai Ying’s chest. “It’s only your first day of marriage, and you’re already in the hospital! What’s going to happen from now on?!”
Shen Shu snapped out of her thoughts and gave a bitter laugh.
“I should have stopped you from marrying him! Look at yesterday—was that even a wedding? Madam Lu barely showed her face, and the others didn’t even bother to appear. It was a complete humiliation! Shu Shu, if things get too unbearable, we need to find a way for you to divorce him.”
“It’s pointless.”
Sometimes Shen Shu wondered if it was Cai Ying’s childlike nature—her simple, cheerful, and uncomplicated demeanor—that made her enjoy spending time with her.
But this situation was far from simple.
Xu Jinman hadn’t married her out of love, and divorce wasn’t something she could simply decide to pursue. Of course not.
He had gone to such lengths to force her into marriage. How could she possibly divorce him easily?
Not now, at least.
Xu Jinman would never let her go.
Shen Shu’s thoughts suddenly crystallized. If Xu Jinman wouldn’t let her go easily, he certainly wouldn’t change his nature overnight. He was treating her like a frog in slowly heating water.
Her slender fingers tightened around the snow-white bedsheets. The thought of having to spend countless days and nights with this devil sent a chill down her spine.
“Shu Shu, are you okay?” Cai Ying gripped her hand. “Why is your hand so cold?”
Shen Shu was drenched in a cold sweat. “Please find me some fresh clothes. I want to take a shower.”
Cai Ying had just left the room when the door swung open from the outside. Shen Shu, sitting on the bed with her back to the door, turned at the sound and stood up warily. “Who are you?”
A male Alpha with dyed blond hair closed the door behind him and grinned at Shen Shu. “Don’t be scared, Sis-in-law. We’re all family here. We almost met last night.”
Xu Jinman had spent the night at the hospital without any further discomfort. While her re-examination results were still slightly low, no other abnormalities were detected.
She had also received a call from Lu Yun, the original body’s mother. After much persuasion, she managed to convince her to turn back halfway, insisting it was just a routine checkup. Still not fully adjusted to this world, Xu Jinman needed to carefully consider how to handle the people in the original body’s life.
Madam Lu, who doted on her daughter, might have returned home, but she didn’t let up. By morning, the hospital room was overflowing with food and drinks.
Xu Jinman couldn’t stand staying there any longer.
As she wandered outside, Shen Shu’s image inexplicably flashed through her mind. Professor Qin had said Shen Shu was fine and could be discharged in a couple of days.
For some reason, Xu Jinman suddenly felt an urge to visit her.
