Transmigrated as a White Lotus Heroine, but I’m Pursuing the Cold Villain - Chapter 12
The woman’s eyes curved into a gentle smile as she looked at her.
The secretary first noticed the woman’s dewy, deer-like eyes, round and luminous, framed by thick lashes that fluttered like delicate fans, lending her an air of innocent purity.
Then she noticed the woman’s outfit: a mid-length pink dress with delicate spaghetti straps. From the waist down, the skirt flared into wavy tiers of pink fabric, each tier edged with a pearly sheen, creating a captivating effect.
The secretary couldn’t help but glance at her several times.
Generally, women over twenty avoided pink dresses, as they tended to look aging. But this woman completely defied that rule. Her features were petite and refined, her porcelain-white complexion giving her a porcelain-like quality, and she appeared to be wearing no makeup at all.
Could she be wearing no makeup? the secretary wondered, astonished.
After smiling at the secretary, the woman walked toward Rao Jinqing.
The secretary heard her call out softly, “Sister.”
The secretary immediately thought of a trendy term: “green tea.”
Oh no, could President Rao be getting scammed?
Rao Jinqing subconsciously adjusted her glasses as the woman entered. Her myopia was mild, so she only wore them while working.
When Lin Qinglian called out to her, Rao Jinqing’s hand trembled slightly. Fortunately, President Rao was a woman who had weathered many storms.
She quickly lowered her hand, her eyes never leaving the documents. “What is it?” she asked casually.
No one spoke.
Only then did she reluctantly lift her gaze from the papers, noticing Lin Qinglian standing frozen, her pink lips pressed between her teeth and her large, watery eyes fixed on her with a pitiful expression.
“Are you upset that I called you that?” Lin Qinglian asked.
Lin Qinglian, who had suddenly decided to change her approach today, panicked.
She doesn’t hate being called “Sister,” does she?
“No,” Rao Jinqing replied.
“Then can I call you that from now on?” Lin Qinglian asked, lowering her lashes to veil her glistening eyes. “I’m an only child. When I heard the Second Young Master call you that the other day, I was so envious.”
Rao Jinqing remained focused on her computer screen. “You may.”
The secretary approached the desk to collect the documents Rao Jinqing had just finished processing.
She noticed that Rao Jinqing hadn’t even opened any software; she was simply staring intently at the computer’s homepage.
Clutching the files, the secretary felt something was off. She glanced down.
Good heavens.
The topmost document was just an empty folder, containing nothing at all.
We’re doomed, she thought.
President Rao seems about to abandon our 9-to-5 routine.
She turned to look at the person standing beside her, noticing her thick eyelashes.
Oh, what a charming little sprite.
Perhaps she had been standing there too long. President Rao, who appeared aloof but was actually remarkably indulgent toward her subordinates, suddenly seemed to notice her. Pushing up her glasses, she asked, “Why are you still here?”
The President Rao who never minded her subordinates working late and even led by example in overtime seemed to have vanished.
The secretary, clutching her documents, retreated swiftly. “Boss, the restaurant reservation has been sent to the driver. I’ll head home now.”
She couldn’t help but wonder why Rao Jinqing, usually so eager for her subordinates to leave on time, was suddenly hesitant about leaving herself.
Rao Jinqing: “…………”
Watching her subordinate’s hurried departure, Rao Jinqing thought:
What’s going on now?
“Sister, are you going to dinner with someone else?”
Rao Jinqing turned to Lin Qinglian, who stood with teary eyes, biting her lower lip, looking utterly aggrieved.
What’s wrong this time?
“Then I’ll just leave your things here, Sister.”
Rao Jinqing finally noticed the shopping bag in Lin Qinglian’s hand.
Is that clothes?
“I’ve already washed it clean. You won’t mind, will you, Sister?”
Rao Jinqing’s pupils constricted sharply. Why would she give me clothes she’s already worn? We’re both adults—doesn’t she know what this implies?
After a long silence, Lin Qinglian’s mind was filled with confusion.
Did I say something wrong? Why isn’t Rao Jinqing reacting?
Lin Qinglian even considered pulling out the communication manual the System had given her yesterday to review it again.
Perhaps sensing her secretly badmouthing it, the System suddenly popped up.
Its face displayed a shocked expression: o>_ and it awkwardly declared in a childish, electronic voice, “My reputation has been tarnished!”
Lin Qinglian: “?”
Suspecting she might have misread, Lin Qinglian glanced at it again. Why are you acting so different from before?
The System puffed out its chest proudly, hands on its hips. “Impressed, aren’t you? I went for further training! Now, I’m the ultimate System, the Niohuru System!”
Lin Qinglian delivered a precise blow: Do you even have any power left?
Rao Jinqing finally found her voice, her words strained. “Are you… giving me clothes you’ve already worn?”
