Transmigrated as an Alpha, the Fox Spirit Lives on Pheromone - Chapter 14
The hospital was permeated with the scent of disinfectant. Huang Xianxian nestled in the pocket of Jiang Li’s trench coat, occasionally poking her head out to glance around.
Jiang Li had used the excuse of gland discomfort to have Qin Nian drive her to the hospital. Then, while Qin Nian parked the car, she slipped inside alone.
Instead of seeking out Doctor Zhou Yang, she followed Huang Xianxian’s directions to the inpatient ward.
She wanted to see if the original owner Huang Xianxian had mentioned truly existed as a vegetative patient. She also wanted to ask Doctor Zhou whether excessive pheromone release could harm the body.
If she had to awaken Huang Xianxian—now in a vegetative state—within three months, it would inevitably consume a massive amount of spiritual energy. On top of repairing her own gland, she wasn’t sure how much pheromone she’d need to absorb. If doing so would harm her master, she absolutely wouldn’t agree to it.
Huang Xianxian sighed in frustration. “I’ve never seen a spirit as timid as you. You have a method to boost your cultivation, yet you refuse to use it properly. I’ve already told you—pheromones in this world are different from the essence we cultivate. No matter how much you absorb, it won’t harm them. And yet, you insist on asking a doctor. If you’re so worried about hurting your master, just absorb from a few more people!”
“You’re so nagging, always chattering in my head. I’ve already imprinted on my master’s scent—I can’t take anyone else’s,” Jiang Li explained seriously.
Huang Xianxian couldn’t be bothered to argue. As they neared the hospital room, she suddenly caught a familiar scent and ducked back into the pocket. “My wife and daughter are here too. Maybe we should come back another time?”
Jiang Li was stunned. “You have a wife and daughter?” Peering through the observation window, she saw a young woman holding a little girl around three years old, sitting beside a hospital bed where another woman lay motionless. The faint rise and fall of her chest was the only sign she was still alive.
The figure on the bed was gaunt, her face obscured, as if she had been lying there for a long time.
Jiang Li twitched her nose, catching a trace of scent from the door—identical to Huang Xianxian’s.
Huang Xianxian peeked out, then retreated, torn between looking and hiding. Finally, she slumped back into the pocket and muttered dejectedly, “To be precise, they’re the wife and child of this body. But the soul inside this body is now me.”
“The woman sitting by the bed is Wen Rou—gentle by name and by nature. She and the original owner were childhood sweethearts. The original owner presented as an Alpha, while she became an Omega. They naturally ended up together. At first, their marriage was blissful—until the original owner was diagnosed as an S-rank Alpha at the hospital. Then everything changed.”
“Somehow, wealthy women learned about her S-rank status and offered her money for her services. After repeated transactions, the original owner became intoxicated by the extravagant lifestyle, growing vain and hedonistic. She resented Wen Rou for being just an ordinary woman who couldn’t provide her with luxury.”
The original body had even drunkenly hit Wen Rou several times after she became pregnant, nearly causing a miscarriage. Afraid that continuing like this would eventually lead to losing the child, Wen Rou was deeply disappointed in the original body. Yet, she couldn’t bear to part with the fruit of their love. Believing the original body had become this way because she was an S-rank Alpha, attracting all those relentless admirers, Wen Rou took advantage of her drunken state and used a knife to excise her Gland.
Because Wen Rou was pregnant and the original body’s actions were truly heinous, under the national laws protecting omegas, Wen Rou faced no criminal punishment.
Jiang Li had never heard Huang Xianxian speak so seriously before and didn’t doubt her words. She cast a sympathetic look at Huang Xianxian—out of all people to possess, why did it have to be a scumbag in a vegetative state? Suddenly, a thought struck her as odd. Frowning, she asked, “How do you know your daughter will pull your oxygen mask off in three months?”
Huang Xianxian wore an expression that said, “Believe it or not,” though Jiang Li probably couldn’t tell. “I saw it in a dream. I had a very long dream where I was the original body, but strangely, I could sense Wen Rou’s emotions. In the end, I even saw the moment of the original body’s death. Weird, right? But then again, I’ve already possessed her body, so what’s strange about any of this? Don’t you think?”
Jiang Li nodded, still processing Huang Xianxian’s words, when the latter asked, “I’ve laid all my cards on the table. What about you? What’s your original body’s story?”
At this question, fragments of memories flashed through Jiang Li’s mind, but she couldn’t piece together anything useful. Apart from the original body’s identity, she knew nothing about why her Gland had been excised or why she had been abandoned to wander the streets.
Seeing Jiang Li’s confusion, Huang Xianxian ventured a guess, “You’re not worse than me, are you? But how come you’re alive and kicking while I’m stuck as a vegetable, forced to reveal my true form?”
Jiang Li gave Huang Xianxian a complicated look, her expression tinged with sorrow. “I can’t remember much. My memories are too hazy and chaotic.” A sense of unease settled in her heart. Initially, she had assumed her original body was a victim of some villain. But after hearing about the scumbag in Huang Xianxian’s story, she couldn’t help but fear—what if her original body was also a hated monster? What if her owner found out about her past and decided to abandon her?
Huang Xianxian sighed. “Never mind. The most important thing now is to boost your cultivation. You can tell me when you remember.” She then added with a light hum, “My daughter will pull my oxygen mask off because she doesn’t want her mother to suffer—working hard to support her while also paying for my hospital bills.” She poked Jiang Li with a tiny paw. “So, could you help cover my hospital expenses? Ease my wife’s burden? Maybe then my daughter won’t feel the need to ‘cut ties for justice.’”
Jiang Li glanced into the hospital room once more. Wen Rou sat by the bedside, her face haggard as she stared fixedly at the person lying on the bed, lost in thought. Jiang Li deeply sympathized with her plight and was naturally willing to help, but she herself had no money. Hesitating for a moment, she finally spoke, “I don’t have any money right now, but once I become the spokesperson, I’ll help you.” She had considered asking Bai Muqin for assistance, but if her owner thought “birds of a feather flock together” and mistakenly believed she was as much of a scoundrel as Huang Xianxian, that would be disastrous. So she took the matter upon herself—it seemed making money had become an urgent priority.
Huang Xianxian’s eyes welled up with tears. “Fox, you’re such a good person.”
“Mommy, I think there’s someone outside the door,” a childish voice piped up. Wen Rou looked toward the entrance, but no one was there.
In the time it took to park the car, Jiang Li had vanished. Qin Nian assumed she had gone ahead to Doctor Zhou’s office, but upon arriving, she found no trace of her. She searched the outpatient hall and the floors, but there wasn’t a single sign of her.
Had she run off? Qin Nian broke into a nervous sweat. By the time she returned to Doctor Zhou’s office, Jiang Li was already sitting there obediently, waiting for her.
“Where did you run off to?” Qin Nian asked sternly.
“I got lost,” Jiang Li replied. “Doctor Zhou already examined me. Let’s head back to the company.”
Qin Nian shot Jiang Li a discreet glance, her eyes filled with deep scrutiny, then turned to Zhou Yang. “Is she alright?”
Zhou Yang smiled faintly and capped her pen. “She’s fine. The newly grown muscle near her gland is just itchy—a normal reaction. As long as she doesn’t scratch it, there’s no issue.”
Once in the car, Jiang Li recalled Doctor Zhou’s words: “Hmm? You’re worried that absorbing too much pheromone might harm Miss Bai’s health, so you came specifically to seek my professional opinion? My advice is, you don’t need to worry about that. Pheromone output varies depending on rank and individual constitution. The average daily output for ordinary levels is around 20 liters, while rare S-rank alphas and omegas can produce up to a hundred times that amount, with superior quality and dominance compared to ordinary levels. Take the small vial of pheromone I gave you yesterday as an example—theoretically, Miss Bai’s daily pheromone output could fill tens of thousands of those vials. Of course, no one can release pheromones nonstop without rest, so spending just a dozen minutes a day releasing pheromones for you would be more than enough.
If you feel guilty, you can enhance her experience during pheromone release—try to arouse her. It’ll make the process more pleasurable and comfortable for Miss Bai.
Active arousal is different from the forced arousal during Heat. Occasionally relieving Miss Bai’s desires can actually benefit her health, so you don’t need to feel burdened.”
Huang Xianxian bounced around the car before finally perching on Jiang Li’s shoulder. “Fox, did you get what the doctor meant? Basically, you need to seduce that Bai woman more often—isn’t that what you fox spirits excel at?”
In the office, Bai Muqin was reviewing documents when a knock came at the door. “Come in.”
After waiting for a long while with no response, Bai Muqin looked up to see Jiang Li peeking her head in, then flashing a bright smile with eight pearly white teeth. “Master, I’m hungry.”
Bai Muqin couldn’t help but curl her lips, yielding to the desire in her heart as she crooked a finger and parted her crimson lips. “Come here.”
