Transmigrated as an Alpha, the Fox Spirit Lives on Pheromone - Chapter 25
The bathroom was filled with steam, through which a graceful figure could faintly be seen. Jiang Li looked up, but the hot mist made it impossible to keep her eyes open. She could only vaguely make out Bai Muqin’s smooth skin and the proud, snow-white curves gently rising and falling. The mesmerizing sight mixed with the hot water splashing into her eyes, forcing Jiang Li to blink reluctantly.
Her fox fur was completely soaked, clinging tightly to her skin. Trembling slightly from her fear of water, she couldn’t help but let out a suppressed “owoo” sound, making her appear small, pitiful, and utterly helpless.
The next second, she was gently picked up. The soft, curved surface beneath her tiny paws left no doubt about where they were resting. But the showerhead above kept pouring hot water over her head, making it impossible for her to open her eyes and confirm.
Trying to escape the water’s assault, she lightly pressed down with her paws—only to hear Bai Muqin let out an unnatural muffled groan before scolding, “You naughty fox.”
With that, Jiang Li was placed back on the floor.
Shaking the water off her fur innocently, Jiang Li’s deep blue eyes brimmed with regret. Bathing as a human had been enjoyable, but as a fox, it was pure torture!
She whimpered softly a few more times, hoping to evoke Bai Muqin’s sympathy. But after a while with no response, she gave up.
“Alright, your turn now.”
Jiang Li looked up at the sound to see Bai Muqin already wrapped in a towel, holding a loofah covered in bubbles.
Slender, jade-like fingers combed through Jiang Li’s fur, rubbing back and forth. Soon, she was entirely covered in soapy foam, looking like a little sheep ready for shearing.
Jiang Li squinted her eyes, enjoying the sensation. Maybe it was time to change her mindset—as a little fox, bathing wasn’t so bad after all. But before long, Bai Muqin picked up the showerhead to rinse off the suds. The water pouring over her head and fur gave her a suffocating feeling. If not for her soaked fur, she would have puffed up in alarm. Trembling instinctively, she wanted to run but feared dirtying her owner, so she endured obediently—though not without letting out pitiful whimpers to prove how much she disliked baths.
When the water stopped, Jiang Li seemed to have reached her limit. She shook her body vigorously, trying to fling off every drop, only to be picked up again and placed into the bathtub.
The moment she touched the water, Jiang Li panicked, flailing wildly as if drowning—
Suddenly, she jerked her head up to see Bai Muqin watching her with amusement.
Only then did Jiang Li realize Bai Muqin’s hands had never let go, still supporting her body—warm and secure.
Embarrassed, she buried her head underwater, wishing she could drown on the spot. This was too humiliating.
Bai Muqin gently lifted her and placed her on the shelf beside the bathtub. Then, turning her back to Jiang Li, she removed her towel and stepped into the hot water with long, straight legs before submerging her entire body.
Though the moment was brief, Jiang Li burned the breathtaking image into her mind.
She felt her face must be completely red by now. Her little fox brain seemed to short-circuit, leaving her dazed for a long while.
When she finally snapped out of it, she found herself perched on Bai Muqin’s collarbone.
Bai Muqin rubbed her head. “If you’re afraid of the water, just stay here and keep me company.”
“Awoo awoo!” Jiang Li barked twice in agreement.
The bathtub was equipped with temperature control and massage functions. Bai Muqin lay comfortably in the hot water, enjoying herself while occasionally petting the adorable little fox, feeling utterly relaxed and content.
The fox’s fur was as soft as silk, and Bai Muqin gradually relaxed, slowly closing her eyes.
But as she continued petting, the sensation under her hand began to feel increasingly off.
The soft texture gradually turned smooth, supple, and even slightly elastic, while the bathtub itself seemed to grow a bit more cramped.
When Bai Muqin opened her eyes, she was met with Jiang Li’s large, innocent, watery eyes. At this moment, Jiang Li was nestled beside her, looking delicate and endearing—strangely heartwarming.
“You—” Bai Muqin was about to speak when Jiang Li interrupted, “Master, I didn’t mean to turn back into human form. I couldn’t control it.”
Bai Muqin had expected her to transform back, but not this soon. She was still a little dazed. Both of them were completely naked in the same bathtub—how could she stand up gracefully and composedly without making it awkward?
All the tantalizing beauty was hidden beneath the water. If she stood up now, wouldn’t she be completely exposed? Though Bai Muqin wasn’t overly prudish, facing this “first time” still left her uneasy. Of course, being seen naked by the little fox didn’t count.
Just as Bai Muqin was calculating how many more seconds she should wait before standing, how to grab a towel at lightning speed, and what elegant pose to use while wrapping it around herself—her mind had already played out the entire scene.
Having steeled herself, she was about to rise when Jiang Li suddenly wrapped her arms around Bai Muqin’s arm. The soft touch of skin against skin sent a shiver through her body.
Jiang Li clung to Bai Muqin’s arm, pressing close, then confessed with utmost sincerity, “Master, I want to tell you—I’m the second daughter of the Jiang family. My name is Jiang Li.”
She had chosen this intimate moment to reveal the truth, naturally with her own agenda. She could tell Bai Muqin wanted to leave, but how could she let such a perfect opportunity slip? Compared to being fully dressed, she much preferred this state of undress. If her master got caught up in the conversation and momentarily forgot their surroundings, wouldn’t that be wonderful?
In the cramped bathtub, accidental physical contact was unavoidable. A brush here, a teasing touch there—maybe her master would even be tempted to do something pleasurable to her. At the thought, Jiang Li’s imaginary tail would’ve wagged sky-high.
A flicker of surprise passed through Bai Muqin’s eyes as two conflicting thoughts surfaced in her mind.
Suppressing one of them, she asked calmly, “When did you remember?”
Seeing that Bai Muqin seemed to believe her, Jiang Li’s eyes brimmed with joy—but the next second, she lowered her head like a child awaiting punishment. “Actually, I’ve always remembered. I just didn’t dare tell you before because I was afraid, you’d send me back.”
Then she looked up gratefully. “But now I’m stronger. I’m not afraid of them anymore. And I have you, Master, as my support.”
Clearly, this wasn’t a proper setting for serious discussions, but Bai Muqin was visibly intrigued by Jiang Li’s words, setting other matters aside as she asked, “Aren’t you a fox spirit? How can you also be Jiang Li from the Jiang family? You should know I have a marriage contract with her.”
Though she suppressed another thought in her mind, a hint of distrust still surfaced.
Jiang Li had long wanted to reveal everything about how she came to this world. Since her master had already accepted that she was a fox spirit, surely possessing Jiang Li’s body wouldn’t be too hard to accept either?
She opened her mouth and babbled a string of words, but Bai Muqin only saw her lips moving without hearing anything.
After several attempts, Jiang Li realized this world was preventing her from speaking the truth—blocking her from saying she was a fox spirit from another world, stopping her from admitting that while this body was Jiang Li’s, the soul inside had changed.
After multiple failed attempts, Jiang Li could only awkwardly say, “My throat seemed to have some issues just now…”
Bai Muqin wasn’t fooled. “I hope you won’t lie to me from now on,” she said. Since learning that fox spirits and weasel spirits existed in this world, her understanding of reality had been upended. If Ah Li couldn’t voice certain truths, it likely involved this world’s secrets.
Jiang Li nodded. “When I woke up that day, I found myself in that alley. But I remembered nothing—my mind was muddled, as if I’d just taken human form with barely any awareness. It wasn’t until you brought me home, master, that your pheromones cleared my thoughts. Many memories returned. I remembered being a fox spirit, but also that I was Jiang Li—though the memories were fragmented and blurry, making me doubt them. Later, when I visited Jiangshi Group and saw my sister, that’s when I confirmed: I am Jiang Li.”
“I vaguely recalled having a childhood fiancée but couldn’t remember her face. Only at Jiangshi Group did I learn from others that my fiancée was you, master.”
She hadn’t lied to Bai Muqin, nor had she mentioned being a fox spirit possessing Jiang Li’s body. Seeing Bai Muqin listening intently, she knew these words were finally being heard.
Eyes are windows to the soul. Bai Muqin saw no deceit in Jiang Li’s gaze—only sincerity and overflowing admiration. She wanted to believe this silly Ah Li before her was indeed Jiang Li, the Jiang family’s second daughter.
Because the name Jiang Li hadn’t been spoken in years. Were it not for occasional mentions of their engagement, even Bai Muqin would have gradually forgotten this person.
“Do you remember anything else? Will you tell me?” Bai Muqin asked softly, hoping to glean useful information from Jiang Li’s memories.
Recalling the original body’s memories, an inexplicable fear surged from Jiang Li’s depths. Steadying herself, she nodded. “I’ll tell you, master.”
“I remember having a very happy childhood. My parents and older sister doted on me dearly. Until that day when my mother took my sister and me out by car, and we had an accident. After that, I never saw my mother again, and my sister was confined to a wheelchair. Only I remained unharmed, but ever since then, my memories became extremely hazy. It’s as if I never went to school or had any friends. Later, it seemed like everyone treated me with malice, so now whenever I recall those times, I instinctively feel afraid.”
The details about the Jiang family’s car accident matched what Ah Li had described. After the incident, the Jiang family claimed that Second Miss Jiang was sent abroad due to overwhelming grief, and there had been no news of her since.
So, the real Jiang Li had actually been with the Jiang family all along? But something unexpected must have happened after the accident, forcing them to fabricate the story about her going abroad?
Bai Muqin pondered this, but what she couldn’t understand was why the Jiang family would suddenly abandon Ah Li in Hidden Flower Alley to fend for herself. Had they discovered that she wasn’t human but a fox spirit?
And who was this Second Miss Jiang who supposedly studied abroad for years without any contact, only to suddenly return now?
There were too many mysteries, and she couldn’t sort them all out at once.
However, all this was based on the assumption that Ah Li hadn’t lied.
To verify the truth, it seemed she would have to meet with the Jiang family sooner than planned.
