Transmigrated as an Alpha, the Fox Spirit Lives on Pheromone - Chapter 9
Affected by external factors, Bai Muqin’s gland became restless, and her pheromones began to leak uncontrollably.
Jiang Li singled out Bai Muqin’s pheromones from the chaotic mix. Though it was difficult to absorb them, she managed to satisfy herself halfway. Privately, she believed that her master’s pheromones belonged to her alone—no one else deserved to smell such a wonderful scent.
Upon hearing Bai Muqin’s words, Jiang Li mustered all her strength and shoved aside the two half-naked men, shielding Bai Muqin as they reached the restroom door. The door was locked, so she pounded on it and shouted, “Open up!”
Hearing the knocking, Li Lan knew there was still a chance to turn things around. Without hesitation, she rushed to the door.
The door opened just a crack at the right moment. Bai Muqin called out to the crowd, “Qin Nian!”
Amid the chaos, Qin Nian responded, “Get inside quickly. Security will be here soon. I’ll handle things here.”
Bai Muqin covered her mask with her hand, only taking deep breaths once they were inside the restroom. Perhaps because Jiang Li was by her side, her feverish restlessness eased slightly—but it was far from enough. Unconcerned about the others in the room, she leaned limply against Jiang Li, her expression lazy yet alluring, her cheeks flushed, and her glistening eyes hazy like intoxicating fine wine.
“Ah Li, hurry…” she murmured hoarsely, her voice laced with unrestrained desire.
Jiang Li trembled at her words, feeling something inside her about to burst forth. She desperately wanted to press her lips against her master, to savor the delicious essence and satisfy both body and soul. But without her master’s permission, she could only suppress her hunger, leaning close to Bai Muqin’s nape to greedily indulge in the scent.
Bai Muqin bit her lip, struggling to hold back any sounds. Yet Jiang Li’s nose brushed against her gland intermittently—cold and electrifying, sending shivers down her spine.
Jiang Li noticed that every time her nose touched her master’s gland, Bai Muqin would tremble involuntarily, releasing even more pheromones. Wanting to consume more at once, Jiang Li mischievously increased the frequency of her touches.
Li Lan shot a meaningful glance at her assistant, who immediately understood and discreetly pulled out her phone to record the scene. Though neither of them had removed their clothes or made any overt movements—merely embracing and occasionally rubbing against each other—the atmosphere was still unbearably sensual, even for a beta like her.
The scent of passionfruit pheromones gradually filled the room. Li Lan covered her nose and mouth, afraid of being affected by the Alpha’s pheromones, but she still caught a whiff. She assumed Bai Muqin was being marked by the beautiful Alpha before her, yet the concentration of Alpha pheromones in the air didn’t increase. Instead, the omega pheromones fluctuated unpredictably.
Just as Li Lan grew puzzled, Bai Muqin gently pushed Jiang Li away. Her cool expression remained unreadable, as if nothing had happened, and she calmly straightened her clothes—now rumpled from Jiang Li’s touch—in front of the full-length mirror in the restroom.
Jiang Li knew Bai Muqin’s heat had subsided. Feeling slightly dejected at being pushed away, she was about to call her “master” but, noticing outsiders present, changed it to “Miss Bai.” With urgency in her voice, she asked, “Are you still feeling unwell?”
Bai Muqin tucked the loose strands of hair behind her ear and smiled faintly, saying, “It’s alright now.” She turned to look at Li Lan, “I hope Miss Li Lan can pretend you didn’t see what just happened.” Her tone, though gentle, carried an undeniable firmness.
Li Lan tactfully agreed, “Of course.” Noticing Bai Muqin’s ambiguous gaze fixed on her, Li Lan felt uneasy and said to her assistant, “Bring it here.” She then located the video recording in the assistant’s phone and deleted it.
Only then did Bai Muqin look away. “I know what Miss Li Lan is afraid of, and I’m not foolish enough to miss that someone else set this up. Miss Li Lan is smart—I understood that the moment you opened the door. So, as long as no one else learns of what happened just now, you have nothing to worry about. I’ll find out who’s behind this.”
Li Lan let out a relieved sigh. “Thank you for your understanding, President Bai.” She then tentatively asked, “What about our collaboration?”
Bai Muqin gave a faint smile, feigning confusion. “What collaboration?”
Li Lan froze momentarily. It seemed there was no room for negotiation. She couldn’t help but feel regret, blaming herself for pushing her luck and saying those offensive words. She forced an awkward smile. “Perhaps another time, then.”
Before long, a knock sounded at the door—Qin Nian’s signature knock. Without hesitation, Bai Muqin motioned for Jiang Li to open the door to the lounge.
“Sis, are you both okay?” Qin Nian’s voice was laced with concern as her eyes darted between Bai Muqin and Jiang Li. She then sighed in relief and muttered, “Good, you’re fine.”
Bai Muqin walked over to Qin Nian, brushing off a stray piece of confetti from her shoulder. Pressing her lips together, she said, “Don’t be so reckless next time. Don’t forget you’re also an Omega—those pheromones affect you too.”
Qin Nian grinned. “I wasn’t reckless, sis, don’t worry.” She patted the bag she was carrying. “You know what I carry with me every day. Today, it finally came in handy.”
Bai Muqin’s lips curled into a slight smile as she nodded. “I’ll credit you for today.”
Jiang Li tugged at Bai Muqin’s sleeve, her bright eyes sparkling with anticipation as she chirped, “Miss Bai, what about me?”
Faced with Jiang Li’s pure, expectant gaze, Bai Muqin couldn’t hold back. For the first time in front of an employee, she revealed her indulgent side, ruffling Jiang Li’s hair as she praised, “You did well too. I’ll credit you as well.”
Jiang Li beamed, squinting her eyes in delight. Her mind raced with thoughts—did being credited mean she could feast again? Or perhaps she could savor that sweet and tangy nectar once more?
The studio, inside and out, had been sprayed with pheromone neutralizer. The pungent smell was unpleasant but cleared the mind. To prevent such incidents from recurring, Bai Muqin ordered pheromone purifiers to be installed in key areas of the company.
The half-naked men had been injected with inhibitors and fitted with inhibitor patches as a double precaution. They kept insisting they must have come to the wrong place—they were hired for a party to release pheromones and liven things up. Who knew things would turn out like this?
The intercepted reporter claimed they had received a tip that Li Lan was hosting an orgy here. Though the tip seemed outrageous, they came on the off chance it was true. Unexpectedly, they didn’t even catch a glimpse of Li Lan but instead saw the eldest daughter of the Bai family.
Qin Nian confiscated the memory cards from the reporters’ cameras and investigated them through her channels. Everything pointed to someone maliciously targeting Li Lan, but the perpetrator had covered their tracks well, leaving no clues.
“Sis, it doesn’t seem like this was aimed at you,” Qin Nian said before glancing at Li Lan nearby and sighing. She had hoped this collaboration would bring her closer to her idol, but now this mess had happened. She asked Li Lan, “Have you offended anyone recently? This seems like a deliberate attack.”
Li Lan thought for a moment, nodding before shaking her head. “There are too many actresses competing with me. I might’ve stepped on toes without realizing it.”
Bai Muqin studied Li Lan thoughtfully. “The timing is too coincidental, don’t you think, Miss Li Lan?”
Li Lan parted her lips slightly, momentarily at a loss for words. She sensed deeper implications in Bai Muqin’s remark but couldn’t quite grasp them yet.
Bai Muqin continued, “What’s done is done, and innocent parties have been affected. Even if you’re blameless, Miss Li Lan, you can’t distance yourself from this. Aside from canceling this collaboration, Qin Bai Group will no longer engage in any business dealings with you moving forward.”
“Rest assured, Miss Li Lan, our Bai family won’t overreach. This won’t impact your other partnerships.”
Li Lan bit her lip and reluctantly muttered, “Thank you,” before leaving with her assistant.
Once they were out of earshot, the assistant fumed, “That President Bai is so unreasonable! You’re the victim here—how can she pin all the blame on you? First, she tells you not to worry, then goes back on her word. If we’d known, we wouldn’t have deleted that video!”
Li Lan gave a noncommittal hum and didn’t engage further. She’d always known the odds of collaborating with the Bai family were slim. By framing the canceled partnership as punishment—and adding that final reassurance—Bai Muqin seemed to be letting her take the fall publicly, lulling the real culprit into complacency so they’d slip up.
After the farce, Bai Muqin convened another meeting to discuss potential endorsers. Worried she might spike a fever again, Qin Nian had Jiang Li—wearing a mask—sit beside Bai Muqin throughout, effectively replacing her assistant.
The sudden appearance of a stunning, unidentified woman at the CEO’s side, gazing at her with undisguised devotion, inevitably sparked speculation. Had the perpetually single Bai Muqin finally found love? Rumor had it she was engaged to an alpha—could this be her?
Unaware of the gossip swirling below, Bai Muqin worked with her trademark efficiency. After shortlisting candidates, she had the PR department reach out, though unfortunately, none were finalized.
“President Bai, something’s off here. The spokesperson position used to be highly sought after, so why is everyone turning it down now? Could they have concerns about what happened before?” The head of the publicity department couldn’t help but speculate.
Bai Muqin rubbed her temples. If that were the case, finding a spokesperson would indeed be difficult. She glanced at Jiang Li, who was staring right at her, and mouthed the words, “Stop looking at me.”
Jiang Li pouted. If her master wouldn’t let her look, she didn’t know where else to direct her gaze. Following the principle of staring back when stared at, she began scanning each person in the meeting room one by one.
The attendees grew increasingly uneasy under her gaze, especially since Jiang Li naturally had fox-like eyes. Every time she looked at someone, her eyes seemed to carry an indescribable allure—both tantalizing and slightly unsettling.
Noticing the discomfort among the staff, Bai Muqin shot another glance at Jiang Li. Good grief, this woman was indiscriminately turning on the charm!
The head of the product department, meeting Jiang Li’s gaze, mistakenly thought she wanted to be the spokesperson. Her eyes held a bewitching allure yet retained a youthful purity, which seemed to align perfectly with the product’s branding. Plus, she appeared to be close to President Bai. Given that, making a suggestion couldn’t hurt. She spoke up, “President Bai, since those celebrities are unwilling to endorse, perhaps we should try a different approach. I think the young lady by your side would be a perfect fit.”
As soon as the words were spoken, everyone chimed in agreement, suddenly realizing—so that’s what her earlier glances meant! They’d been overthinking it!
