Transmigrated as the Scum Alpha in a Farming Novel (GL) - Chapter 10
Yu An stepped forward, bowing respectfully to Second Madam Yu, Second Uncle Yu, and Fourth Aunt Yu. “Second Madam, Second Uncle, Fourth Aunt, I was young and foolish before, but it won’t happen again from now on. I will live a good life with Huaixu.”
This respectful and earnest bow surprised all three of them, especially Second Madam Yu.
She was both surprised and relieved.
Yu An had been unruly since childhood. Aside from when she was very young and received New Year’s money with proper etiquette, she had never behaved like this.
Taking advantage of Second Madam Yu’s hesitation, Yu An continued, “I will certainly repay this money. From now on, I won’t cause Second Madam or the clan any more worry.”
Yu An then spoke a few more pleasing words, which deeply moved Second Madam Yu. She even stopped Fourth Aunt Yu from saying anything further.
“The silver An’er owes will be accounted for by me; there’s no need to repay it. As long as An’er lives a good life with her niece-in-law from now on, that’s enough.”
Second Madam Yu genuinely meant well for Yu An, but Fourth Aunt Yu was displeased upon hearing this. She had been stopped from speaking earlier, but now hearing Second Madam Yu offer to repay the debt for Yu An, she couldn’t hold back.
“Second Aunt… how can that be?”
Second Madam Yu glared at her and said, “Why not? In the past…”
In the past, when Old Madam Yu was in power, not to mention two taels of silver, even twenty taels had been paid out, and they all benefited from it. Now that Yu An was like this, what was wrong with her paying two taels of silver?
She didn’t continue, wanting to save Fourth Aunt Yu some face in front of the younger generation. Fourth Aunt Yu naturally understood and remained silent.
Yu An was unaware of these intricate details. She simply felt that since she had taken over the original owner’s identity, the money owed was naturally hers.
Therefore, there was no reason for someone else to repay the silver she owed.
“An’er appreciates Second Madam’s kindness, but… this money must still be repaid.”
Yu An thought for a moment and said, “Before the New Year… I will definitely return the silver to Second Madam.”
After she finished speaking, Fourth Aunt Yu showed a disdainful expression, and even Second Madam Yu and Second Uncle Yu didn’t quite believe her.
Yu An looked embarrassed and turned to Liu Huaixu for help.
Liu Huaixu hadn’t interjected while they were speaking, because she had started to worry as soon as Second Madam Yu mentioned two taels of silver. The family could probably only scrape together one tael.
She didn’t quite believe what Yu An had said, but she also couldn’t let others think they weren’t united.
“Second Madam, at present, our family can only produce one tael of silver. The remaining tael will certainly be repaid as soon as possible.”
After speaking, Liu Huaixu turned and went back inside to retrieve the silver, which she then handed to Second Madam Yu.
At first, Second Madam Yu didn’t want to accept it, but Liu Huaixu insisted.
They were at a stalemate for a while when Yu An stepped forward, standing in front of Liu Huaixu. She bowed to Second Madam Yu and said, “Second Madam, this money is owed by Yu An, and it’s only right that I repay it. Huaixu has worried a lot for this family and for me.”
Yu An paused, looked at Liu Huaixu, and continued, “Your grand-nephew doesn’t want Huaixu to worry any more.”
Such a statement, taking responsibility, seemed somewhat uncharacteristic coming from Yu An. Liu Huaixu looked at her in surprise, while Second Madam Yu’s gaze softened considerably, becoming more affectionate.
“Since An’er has said so, Huaixu, take the money back. Second Madam will also see if An’er is truly reformed.”
When Yu An heard Second Madam Yu say this, she immediately responded, “Don’t worry, Second Madam, your grand-nephew will certainly turn over a new leaf this time.”
Her tone was solemn and resolute, causing Second Madam Yu’s expression to change repeatedly, and she felt greatly relieved.
Yu An had been well-behaved before, but those were mostly sweet words meant to swindle money. Second Madam Yu could always tell, though she indulged her. But now, the words came out with a different kind of conviction.
Perhaps besides Liu Huaixu, the only person who genuinely wanted Yu An to change for the better was Second Madam Yu. However, Liu Huaixu no longer dared to easily trust Yu An, as she had suffered greatly before.
Second Madam Yu, however, was different; she was overjoyed by Yu An’s transformation.
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Yu An and Liu Huaixu saw the visitors out. As they left, Fourth Aunt Yu still looked at Yu An with a hint of resentment.
As long as Yu An wasn’t disowned, she couldn’t feel at ease.
Primarily, she didn’t believe Yu An could change for the better just like that, and she was even more worried it would affect her daughter Yu Zheng’s career in the future.
—
After everyone left, Liu Huaixu’s tense nerves finally relaxed.
Her steps felt weak, and she slowly shuffled back into the house.
After seeing the visitors off, Yu An was still pondering how to earn money. Just as she thought of finding Liu Huaixu to discuss it, she turned and saw her leaning against the doorframe. She walked over in a few quick steps, intending to support Liu Huaixu, but was pushed away by her hand.
“Don’t touch me.” The voice held implied anger. Yu An froze, forgetting to support Liu Huaixu. She just watched as Liu Huaixu slowly entered the room, and before closing the door, Liu Huaixu looked back at her with a wary expression.
Yu An blinked innocently, wanting to convey that she had no other intentions, but Liu Huaixu closed the door without even looking at her.
Shrugging, Yu An turned and sat on the doorstep, looking out at the courtyard.
She had been busy with the autumn harvest for the past few days, and suddenly having nothing to do made Yu An feel a bit restless.
She even felt a longing for her homeland.
Although her relatives were no longer alive, it was at least the world where she had lived for 20 years. Unable to return, Yu An felt a little melancholic.
After all, life here was somewhat monotonous.
There were no cell phones, games… or any kind of appliances.
However, there were also advantages: the air was good, and most importantly… no periods.
During special periods, there was only the estrus period, no need for sanitary napkins, no stomach pain, and during estrus, one only needed to apply some inhibitor cream…
Remembering the inhibitor cream, Yu An suddenly recalled that long-forgotten early morning sensation, and Liu Huaixu’s flushed cheeks.
Could it be that her pheromones had stimulated Liu Huaixu?
Is that why she was so abnormal today?
Yu An stood up and returned to her room. As expected, there was still a scent of peach wine. She opened all the windows to air out the smell. As she left, she glanced at Liu Huaixu’s room, thinking that with the smell gone, Liu Huaixu should feel a bit more comfortable, right?
Liu Huaixu indeed felt a little better. She hadn’t slept soundly last night, constantly feeling as if she were in a peach orchard, wanting to escape but being tightly enveloped. She woke up before dawn, and the faint traces of peach wine scent made her uncomfortable from head to toe.
She also felt more fear.
Because Yu An’s pheromones were peach wine-scented, and Yu An was so close to her. Already sensitive during her estrus period, she now felt as if her nasal passages were filled with the scent of peach wine, and even her body had absorbed some of it.
She anxiously waited until dawn, wanting to get some fresh air, but as soon as she stepped out, she encountered Yu An again. She had imagined many scenarios in her mind, thinking Yu An would go crazy as before, but thankfully, Second Madam Yu arrived.
It was a bit better outside, but she still felt heavy-headed, especially when Yu An approached her.
After everyone left, Liu Huaixu immediately returned to her room.
She dared not ask, nor dared to speak.
She was afraid that if Yu An realized she was in estrus, she might do something to her.
Sometimes she couldn’t understand. Although Yu An had been spoiled since childhood, her nature wasn’t bad. How had she become so detestable after growing up?
Her body felt better, and Liu Huaixu began to feel sleepy. While thinking about these things, she actually fell asleep.
After sleeping soundly for who knows how long, Liu Huaixu was woken by a noisy sound, as if heavy objects were being placed on the ground.
She put on her clothes and applied some more inhibitor cream, then walked towards the door.
Before she even stepped out, she saw Yu An, with light sweat on her brow, moving rice stalks.
“You’re awake?” Yu An heard the movement, turned around, smiled, casually wiped the sweat from her forehead, and continued to arrange the rice stalks.
After airing out the room and noticing Liu Huaixu’s poor complexion, likely from catching up on sleep, she decided to find something to do.
The rice had just been harvested yesterday but hadn’t been brought back yet, so she borrowed a cart from the neighboring Wu family and transported it back load by load.
The fields were quite far, and she could only carry four or five bundles of rice stalks per trip. She had only made two trips all morning.
Liu Huaixu simply stood at the doorway watching her, showing no intention to speak. Yu An unloaded a cart of rice stalks and then prepared to go back to the fields.
As she pushed the cart towards the courtyard gate, Liu Huaixu suddenly called out, “Yu An.”
Yu An turned back, making a questioning sound: “Hmm?”
It was no wonder she was puzzled. Since meeting Liu Huaixu, she hadn’t heard Liu Huaixu call her by her name.
Liu Huaixu had always been cold towards her, but the sound of her calling her name was quite pleasant.
Especially when she called her name, the cold tone carrying a hint of tenderness, Yu An’s heart skipped a beat. She put the cart down, turned around, and asked with a smile, “What’s wrong?”
