Transmigrated as the Scumbag Alpha of a Cold Movie Queen - Chapter 16
By the time all the medical checkups were finished, it was already noon.
The breakfast Qi Siyu had packed earlier was completely cold, but that didn’t dampen her mood.
She reheated the food in the kitchen, and it still tasted great when brought back.
Since Gu Qing was now allowed to eat soft foods, they set the dining tray on the overbed table.
Qi Siyu proudly shared the results of her efforts: “I’ve spoken with the production team of Carefree Vacation. They agreed not to assign you any difficult tasks—we’ll just treat it like a vacation.”
“Really?” Gu Qing cast her a sideways glance, not too heavy but far from light. “Are you trying to confirm the rumor that I act like a diva?”
Qi Siyu instantly felt a chill run through her, her heart pounding hard. Her good mood vanished in a flash. “Why would I ever—?”
“Right now, the internet is claiming you knew nothing about the show and were forced into it by your agent. If you show up in a wheelchair, with a bit of makeup to look pale and sickly, the audience will only feel sorry for you.” Qi Siyu laid out her strategy, word by word.
Gu Qing let out a cold laugh. “Well, the rumors aren’t wrong.”
Qi Siyu was momentarily at a loss for words. For the first time, she seriously questioned whether everything she was doing now—could it truly change the way Gu Qing saw her? Could it alter the tragic ending left behind by the original owner?
But what other choice did she have? She sighed. “Let’s eat.”
Gu Qing’s reaction had caught Qi Siyu off guard, and now she didn’t know how to bring up the show’s request for a pre-interview.
For a while, the room was quiet, broken only by the soft clinks of utensils and the sound of chewing.
After the meal, it was Gu Qing who spoke first. “They want a pre-interview, right?”
“Huh? Yes—how did you know?” Qi Siyu was surprised.
“Of course I found out from the gossip online.” Gu Xiaoling rolled her eyes and held up two fingers. “I’m watching you both closely.”
Qi Siyu ignored her threat and turned to Gu Qing. “When would be a good time? If you’re not up for it, we can skip it altogether.”
“This afternoon,” Gu Qing replied coolly.
“Okay, I’ll contact the crew right away.” Qi Siyu hadn’t expected Gu Qing to be this cooperative—and she had no idea why.
Whatever she wants, I’ll go along with it, Qi Siyu thought. Sooner or later, she’ll realize how useful I am.
After confirming with the production team, Qi Siyu said, “They’ll be here at two.”
She hesitated for a second. “Should we do the temporary marking before then?”
“I just don’t want anything to go wrong later. It’s definitely not because I’m… eyeing you or anything,” she quickly clarified.
Gu Qing simply responded with an “Mm,” showing no reaction to the explanation. She was thinking: One more try today. If it’s still like yesterday, I’ll have to take other measures.
“I’ll go brush my teeth.” Qi Siyu licked her canines and dashed into the bathroom.
At the very least, she had to ensure perfect oral hygiene to give her Omega a proper marking experience.
Though, in truth, Qi Siyu’s real goal was to inject another dose of gland repair serum into her own system. Maybe her body was getting used to it, because this time it didn’t hurt as much.
Afraid of triggering the same extreme reaction as yesterday, Qi Siyu opted for a quick and clean approach.
She embraced Gu Qing, bit into her gland sharply, and injected her pheromones—then backed off within three seconds.
Gu Qing: …
She barely felt the pheromones surge into her before they were instantly swallowed up by her own, leaving no trace behind.
It worked, sure. But it left her with a strangely unsatisfying feeling.
Gu Xiaoling, who had been about to slip out of the room to give them privacy, stood frozen in place, jaw dropped. Wait, that was it?
“Qi Siyu, are you… not up to the task?” she asked, genuinely concerned. “Sister Gu, maybe you should start lining up a few backup Alphas with higher compatibility.”
“She barely lasted a few seconds—this is a serious issue.”
Qi Siyu: …
Gu Xiaoling, do you hear yourself right now?!
Gu Qing glanced at Qi Siyu, her usually frosty eyes now tinged with scrutiny and contemplation. She too was starting to wonder—Had Qi Siyu already run out of pheromones?
Pheromones were, after all, a limited resource. If an Alpha’s glands couldn’t keep up production, they’d eventually dry up.
And Alphas like that? Omegas avoided them like the plague.
Qi Siyu gritted her teeth. “I am not failing. I’ll mark you again if you don’t believe me!”
“No need.” Gu Qing was actually quite satisfied with the current outcome. Though her body still had a flicker of desire, it wasn’t anything she couldn’t suppress.
Being misunderstood or distrusted before—those were small issues left over from the original Qi Siyu’s mess. But being seen as incompetent—now that truly hit her where it hurt.
Tomorrow, Qi Siyu vowed, I will prove myself.
That afternoon, four people from the production team arrived: two camera operators, one host, and one assistant.
As soon as they entered, the host looked around and remarked, “Oh dear, the lighting in here isn’t great. Miss Gu, would you mind stepping outside? The interview will only take about 20 minutes.”
“She can’t. Gu Qing isn’t able to get out of bed right now,” Qi Siyu said, turning to face the group. She had her back to the door before but now stood in full view.
The host’s eyes flickered with surprise at Qi Siyu’s appearance, but upon realizing she was just one of Gu Qing’s assistants, the awe quickly turned to envy and disdain.
“Oh my,” the host said with a laugh, tapping her own forehead. “Silly me, I forgot Miss Gu is still recovering. Even so, the fact that you’re still committed to doing a variety show—truly touching!”
Both Qi Siyu and Gu Qing frowned. The sarcasm was practically oozing from her words.
“Let’s get this done quickly then,” the host continued with a bright, fake smile as the two camera operators set up their gear.
Qi Siyu and Gu Xiaoling moved aside to stay out of the shot.
Once the cameras were ready, the host approached the bed and finally got a clear look at Gu Qing.
“Miss Gu, is that gauze on your face…? Is it a disfigurement?”
“Yes, I was injured.” Gu Qing replied flatly, as if she weren’t the one whose appearance had been affected. She didn’t seem to care about looks at all.
A flicker of glee flashed in the host’s eyes, though she quickly masked it with feigned sympathy. “That’s really unfortunate. Hopefully plastic surgery can restore your face. It’d be a real loss to the entertainment world if we lost such a beauty.”
“Let’s hope so.” Gu Qing’s tone remained indifferent, clearly irritating the host.
“Well, I’m sure the heavens are watching over you. With so many fans praying for you, how could they not? Could you take a moment to clarify those recent rumors online? Everyone’s so worried.”
“There’s nothing to clarify. They’re baseless.” Gu Qing said.
“Oh? But they came from your former agent. Did you two have a falling-out? And what about your family—what kind of conflict would make your own parents and siblings speak so harshly about you?”
The host rattled off a barrage of loaded questions.
Gu Qing’s gaze shifted to Qi Siyu—full of cold sarcasm.
This is what you meant by “we’ve discussed it”?
Qi Siyu flushed with anger and embarrassment. She marched over to cut the host off. “Who’s your supervisor? Didn’t they brief you on what not to ask?”
The host’s smile grew even more condescending. “Trying to pull rank? Looks like Miss Gu really does have powerful backers.”
Qi Siyu’s frown deepened. “There’s no need for this interview. I’ll speak with your boss and have someone else sent over.”
“Hahaha! Is this how capital works? Say the wrong thing and you get someone fired?”
Suddenly, the host pulled a knife from her microphone and lunged straight at Gu Qing’s chest.
“Die, you b1tch!”
Everyone in the room was stunned. Qi Siyu’s pupils contracted sharply. Being the closest to Gu Qing, her body reacted faster than her mind—she immediately reached out to block the attack.
Her hands closed around the blade—and bl00d began to pour.
