Transmigrated as the Scumbag Alpha of a Cold Movie Queen - Chapter 22
All night long, Qi Siyu dreamt of running—chasing something delicious, yet never able to catch it.
When her alarm finally dragged her out of sleep, she sighed heavily, still reeling from the sense of loss her dream had left behind.
There was nothing worse than being jolted awake from a good dream. Life was tough enough already.
Quietly, Qi Siyu crawled out of bed and stood beside Gu Qing, who was lying on her left side. Loose strands of hair veiled half of her face, revealing only a sliver of her fair neck.
From this angle, Qi Siyu could clearly see the faint redness around Gu Qing’s scent gland. Her canines began to itch again.
Oh no—she forgot to apply the gland patch last night!
Frantically, Qi Siyu rummaged through drawers and bags until she finally found the patch in her coat pocket. Climbing back onto the bed on her knees, she carefully pressed it over Gu Qing’s gland.
Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.
How could I forget something so important? she scolded herself as she brushed her teeth.
To be safe, she needed to stockpile enough Gland Recovery Serum before gambling on the Face-Restoration Pill again.
She’d be meeting other Alphas once the variety show started filming, and Qi Siyu didn’t want anything to happen to Gu Qing.
She wasn’t sure if this worry came from genuine concern—or the possessiveness of an Alpha.
But motives aside, actions spoke louder. As long as the result was good for Gu Qing, that was enough.
Time passed quietly in their new routine, and before long, the shoot for Carefree Vacation was about to begin.
At 6 a.m., someone from the production team called—they had arrived just outside Lichunyuan.
Qi Siyu messaged the butler to let them in.
She yawned and looked toward Gu Qing, who was already fully dressed and seated in her wheelchair. Not a trace of drowsiness remained on her face. Even with a thick bandage covering part of her face, there wasn’t the slightest hint of frailty.
The styling team was in the middle of doing Gu Qing’s makeup when Qi Siyu gave them instructions:
“Make her look fragile and worn-out—but still beautiful and delicate. Something that makes people want to protect her.”
“Don’t worry, President Qi. We understand,” the makeup artist replied with a nod.
Gu Qing shot her a sidelong glance. “There’s no need to be nervous.”
Qi Siyu licked her lips stubbornly. “I’m not nervous.”
Though she’d gone over every detail of this plan countless times in her head, the tension still hadn’t left her. This wasn’t her own set—she didn’t have the luxury of yelling “cut” and doing another take.
This was a livestream. Twenty-four hours, and it would directly impact Gu Qing’s public image.
“You’re shaking,” Gu Qing noted, unimpressed.
Qi Siyu: …
“I’ll go check on the rice porridge,” Qi Siyu muttered and slipped away, fleeing the room.
Ugh, why does she have to be so blunt in front of everyone?!
The rice porridge still had five minutes left in the blender, so Qi Siyu went to the front door to wait for the crew.
Just as she reached for the handle—
“Oh, I was just about to knock, and the door opened! Looks like Sister Gu and I really are in sync,” came a cheerful voice.
Qi Siyu’s smile froze at the phrase “in sync.” She forced a pleasant expression and replied, “Sorry, but Sister Gu can’t come to the door herself right now. The one in sync with you is me.”
As the door opened fully, Qi Siyu and Bai Ming’an came face to face.
Bai Ming’an’s breath caught—Qi Siyu’s beauty hit like a freight train. Slender, upturned eyes, a high nose bridge, striking red lips… it was a bold, unforgettable face.
“I’m Bai Ming’an, one of the guests on Carefree Vacation. The production team assigned me to pick up Sister Gu and escort her to the set. And you are…?” Though jealousy surged in her heart, Bai Ming’an’s smile remained polished and professional.
“Surname Qi. You can think of me as Gu Qing’s assistant. She’s not very mobile right now, so I’ll be staying with her for the duration of filming,” Qi Siyu replied, her own smile just as courteous.
Neither of them liked the other, yet both wore smiles as if they were long-lost friends.
“Ah, of course, of course. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the official announcement. Sister Gu’s really so dedicated to her craft.”
Bai Ming’an’s teeth ached from the effort of pretending to be impressed.
“What can we do? The breach fee’s no joke. Come on in,” Qi Siyu said as she stepped aside to let the crew enter.
“Wow, Sister Gu’s house is huge! I can’t even afford a single living room like this,” Bai Ming’an commented, subtly implying someone this rich shouldn’t have to worry about penalty fees.
“You’re overthinking it. This is one of my properties. Gu Qing’s just staying here,” Qi Siyu replied smoothly. “Make yourselves at home—she’s still getting ready.”
That single sentence triggered a flurry of thoughts in Bai Ming’an’s mind. What kind of assistant owns a luxury apartment in Lichunyuan?!
Too bad they weren’t live yet. If the fans were watching, someone would’ve dug up Qi Siyu’s entire background by now.
Still, there is time. She’ll find out eventually—but she need to tread carefully.
Bai Ming’an tried to make small talk, fishing for information. But Qi Siyu was as slippery as an eel, deflecting everything with vague answers.
A short while later, the blender beeped, and Qi Siyu said, “You all already had breakfast, right? Gu Qing is still recovering, so her meals are special—nutrient-rich rice porridge.”
“We’ve eaten,” Bai Ming’an replied quickly, silently scoffing. What, are you expecting me to share her food?
“Oh, that’s a shame. I bought extra buns thinking we could all eat together,” Qi Siyu said with a regretful sigh.
Bai Ming’an: …
Qi Siyu went to wheel Gu Qing out. When she saw her in full makeup, she froze.
Just a touch of makeup, and even her gaze has changed.
Anyone who looked into Gu Qing’s eyes now would see restrained pain and quiet resignation. It stirred sympathy from deep within.
This… this is acting.
Qi Siyu was awestruck. If only she had Gu Qing in her own drama—what a blessing that would be.
“Let’s go,” Gu Qing said calmly.
“Oh! Right,” Qi Siyu blinked and snapped out of her reverie, briefly distracted by dreams of her future career.
She still wanted to be a director someday.
Gu Qing’s wheelchair stopped at the dining table. Qi Siyu poured a bowl of porridge for her, then pulled some steamed buns from the insulated container.
Bai Ming’an sat at the table watching Gu Qing sip porridge, while Qi Siyu munched happily on her buns.
Qi Siyu even offered some to the crew. “These buns are seriously delicious. Too bad you stars have to worry about your figures.”
The smell was heavenly. Bai Ming’an’s stomach growled. Ugh, this woman is the worst. Compared to her, even Gu Qing seems likable.
“Yes, well, sacrifices must be made for acting. Sister Gu, how serious is your injury? The bandages are still on,” Bai Ming’an asked sweetly, secretly praying the disfigurement was permanent.
“Not fully healed,” Gu Qing replied. “The doctor said I should regain about eighty percent.”
Eighty percent—tsk, almost invisible under makeup. Bai Ming’an sulked. Why didn’t that acid get her full face?
“Well, that’s good. You’re a treasure of the industry. We’re all looking forward to more wonderful work from you.”
Her words were honeyed, but her thoughts were venomous. Bai Ming’an embodied smiling while hiding a dagger.
“I’ll do my best,” Gu Qing said softly. Her eyes drifted, almost unintentionally, toward the camera—filled with restraint but tinged with sincerity. “I won’t let down the fans who have supported me.”
It was just the right amount of emotion—vulnerable, controlled, and hinting at something deeper. Fans with magnifying glasses would immediately start digging: What was she feeling? What was she hinting at?
They’d connect the dots between her past scandals and her manager Wang Fang. Pressure would mount on the company to investigate and clear Gu Qing’s name.
Bai Ming’an felt a surge of panic. If I don’t take Gu Qing down in this first episode, I’ll never get my moment.
Unlike previous seasons, Carefree Vacation now dangled the promise of a major IP drama deal. It had attracted desperate, fame-hungry contestants like herself.
And if Gu Qing stayed, she’d win. That IP role would be hers for sure.
