Transmigrated as the Scumbag Alpha of a Cold Movie Queen - Chapter 23
The program had arranged a minibus for the guests, with two seats on the left side and three on the right. The back row had three seats as well, making a total of eight.
The first seat by the door had been removed to make space for Gu Qing’s wheelchair—saving the trouble of lifting her in and out.
“Our pickup route follows your home addresses. First Gu Qing, then Bai Ming’an, and next we’ll collect Sun Yingying before heading to the airport,” a staff member explained.
Both Gu Qing and Bai Ming’an nodded.
The staff continued, “Bai Ming’an, since you didn’t complete your assigned task, you’ll be given a penalty once everyone is assembled.”
“Fair enough. I really couldn’t find a chance to complete it. Wiping Gu Qing’s face felt a bit too intimate,” Bai Ming’an responded cheerfully, perfectly playing the part of a respectful and self-aware guest—something her fans would certainly appreciate.
“The goal of these tasks is simply to help everyone bond faster. Since both of you are Omegas, there wouldn’t be any scandal,” the staff member reassured. “Now, Gu Qing, please draw your mission card.”
Qi Siyu took the stack from the crew and spread them out in front of Gu Qing. “Pick one.”
Gu Qing selected the card right in the middle, flipped it over, and her eyes dimmed for a moment as she read aloud: “Please give the next arriving guest a warm princess carry.”
Silence filled the bus.
“Uh…” The staff member started to sweat.
“Are you kidding me?” Qi Siyu’s tone was all sugar but her smile was sharp. “Even if our Gu Qing had the arms of Hercules, this isn’t the time to be princess-carrying anyone.”
“Apologies,” the staff member quickly backpedaled after receiving instructions through his earpiece. “It must’ve been a mistake not removing that card earlier. Given Gu Qing’s situation, a simple hug will suffice.”
“Oh?” Qi Siyu casually flipped through the rest of the mission cards—ten in total. Three were obviously unsuitable for someone with a leg injury. So this is Gao Zhonghai’s idea of fair play, huh?
“Fine then. What’s the punishment for failing to complete the task?” she asked coolly.
“That’ll be revealed once everyone is present,” the staffer replied cautiously. After all, this was an investor he was talking to—and Director Gao had specifically instructed them to tread lightly around her.
“I hope it’s nothing too cruel,” Bai Ming’an added, palms pressed together in mock prayer, milking her screen time.
Qi Siyu exchanged a glance with Gu Qing. Gu Qing’s gaze was calm, but Qi Siyu’s guilt made her look away. She discreetly pulled out her phone and bombarded Gao Zhonghai with a string of question marks.
In the control room, Gao Zhonghai ran a hand through his cropped hair and replied:
【There’s no need for behind-the-scenes tricks for something this minor. Don’t worry—your Movie Queen won’t suffer a bit.】
【Besides, this highlights Gu Qing’s leg injury and tugs at fans’ heartstrings. Win-win.】
Qi Siyu had to admit, he had a point. Still, the fleeting shadow in Gu Qing’s smoky-gray eyes had unsettled her.
She knew Gu Qing might be acting—but her heart still ached.
Soon, the bus stopped.
Qi Siyu carried Gu Qing down in her wheelchair. “Let’s go!”
“Yingying lives in a nice neighborhood too. The landscaping’s lovely,” Bai Ming’an remarked as they entered the complex, looking around.
Neither Qi Siyu nor Gu Qing responded. Bai Ming’an shut her mouth in frustration.
Outside Sun Yingying’s apartment, Gu Qing knocked. From inside came a bright, chirpy voice: “Coming, coming! Almost ready!”
The door swung open, and Sun Yingying exaggeratedly gasped, “Wow! It’s really Gu Qing! I’m so lucky—I’m a huge fan!”
She immediately bent down and hugged Gu Qing. Her cheeks flushed, radiating that nervous excitement typical of a fangirl meeting her idol.
But Gu Qing could see right through the fake innocence in her eyes—she was here to ride the hype.
Qi Siyu’s eyes widened. What kind of person just dives in for a hug like that?
“Careful! Don’t touch her leg,” she snapped, clearly annoyed—even if the other person was an Omega.
“Oh gosh, I’m sorry! I was just so excited.” Sun Yingying blushed again. “Gu Qing, I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
“No harm done,” Gu Qing replied lightly, shaking her head.
“That’s good. Please wait just a moment while I change—won’t be long!” Sun Yingying said, reaching for the handles of Gu Qing’s wheelchair.
“No need. I’ve got it,” Qi Siyu said flatly, blocking her with a glare.
Gu Xiaoling may be gone, but now someone else wants to muscle in? Absolutely not.
Bai Ming’an stood to the side, forgotten—completely ignored by Sun Yingying. Her irritation simmered.
Seriously? I may not be as popular as Gu Qing, but at least I outrank some C-list idol who flopped right after debut.
What a suck-up. Just you wait.
Sun Yingying came running back out after changing. Eyes sparkling, she asked, “Gu Qing, could I get your autograph?”
“Of course.” Gu Qing nodded.
Sun Yingying handed her a photo and a pen. “Thank you so much! I can’t wait to show this off to my friends. Being on a show with you is a dream come true.”
“My pleasure.” Gu Qing signed slowly, her movements slightly stiff—making it clear her arm was also injured.
“Did the car accident hurt your arm too? Don’t strain it,” Bai Ming’an interjected sweetly, drawing attention to Gu Qing’s discomfort.
To Sun Yingying, it sounded passive-aggressive—as if accusing her of not caring about her idol’s condition. Her smile faltered.
“Just a minor injury,” Gu Qing said, capping the pen.
Qi Siyu took the signed photo and handed it to Sun Yingying, tone chilly. “Here. Lucky for you, you only brought one. If there were more, I’m not sure Gu Qing could’ve signed them all.”
Damn it. The only thing Gu Qing had ever signed for her was their divorce and termination agreement.
Sun Yingying dabbed at the corner of her eye. “Thank you. I’m really touched. I always knew Gu Qing loved her fans—now I’ve experienced it myself.”
A single sentence, perfectly crafted to highlight Gu Qing’s fan-friendly image.
Bai Ming’an gritted her teeth. This sweet-faced Sun Yingying wasn’t going to be easy to handle.
“Indeed. Gu Qing’s professionalism is something we all admire.”
“Let’s head out,” Qi Siyu said.
The four of them entered the elevator. Sun Yingying tried to position herself behind Gu Qing’s wheelchair, competing with Qi Siyu for space.
“Hi there! Are you here specifically to take care of Gu Qing?” she asked with a smile.
“Yes,” Qi Siyu replied evenly. “So there’s no need for you to worry about her—I’ve got it covered.”
Ugh, so annoying, Sun Yingying thought. This so-called assistant is clearly not just an assistant. Gorgeous face, bad attitude—probably some resource-hogging socialite trying to use this show to debut.
“It’s fine. I’ve taken care of a family member who was seriously injured in a car accident too. I’m actually quite experienced. And besides, serving Gu Qing is my honor,” Sun Yingying beamed.
Qi Siyu rolled her eyes internally. Clingy little leech. If she manages to ride Gu Qing’s popularity even a little, I’ll eat my hat.
