- Transmigrated as the Scumbag Alpha of a Cold Movie Queen
- Chapter 5 - Applying the Medicine
In the dead of night, the only light in the hospital room came from a sliver of moonlight seeping through the curtain.
At 1 a.m., Qi Siyu—who had stayed awake the entire time—waited for the progress bar on her second lottery draw to hit 100% before finally letting go of Gu Qing’s hand and quietly slipping off the folding bed.
She crept around to the other side of the hospital bed—Gu Qing’s injured leg side.
Lifting the thin blanket, she was greeted by an array of devices and supports stabilizing Gu Qing’s left leg. The setup looked straight out of a sci-fi film.
【System, there aren’t any metal rods or plates inside her leg, right?】 Qi Siyu whispered in her mind.
【None. And even if there were, the ointment will dissolve any foreign objects automatically.】
The system’s reply further deepened Qi Siyu’s awe at its fantastical nature. After all, this was a novel world—normal logic didn’t apply.
Taking a deep breath, Qi Siyu retrieved the ointment jar from her backpack and, with painstaking care, applied a thin layer to Gu Qing’s injured leg.
She moved cautiously, hardly daring to breathe.
By the time she was done, half an hour had passed.
She never noticed that, during the process, Gu Qing’s eyes had briefly opened.
After carefully putting the ointment away and wiping the sweat from her forehead, Qi Siyu let out a sigh—what an exhausting job.
She stretched her back and meticulously restored the scene to how it was.
Looking down at the still-sleeping Gu Qing, even in the darkness, Qi Siyu could see the pale complexion and slight frown between her brows. Gone was her usual frosty, distant air.
Unable to resist, Qi Siyu leaned in and gently smoothed the crease between her brows with a finger.
“Sweet dreams,” she whispered sincerely.
Only then did she return to her folding bed, lifting Gu Qing’s hand once more as she drifted off to sleep.

Gu Qing lay there, her mind echoing those two soft words. Her lips curled into a mocking smile.
She didn’t know what Qi Siyu had done to her leg in the middle of the night, but whatever it was, it couldn’t be anything good.
Since the car crash hadn’t taken her leg outright, Qi Siyu must be trying to finish the job herself.
Gu Qing had already suspected that this scumbag had a preference for the weak and sickly. Now it seemed her tastes had evolved to include the disabled.
Acting kind by day, smiling even when Gu Qing ordered her around—it was all just a ploy to lower her guard. But Gu Qing wasn’t falling for it again.
All she could do now was endure. One day, this trash would get exactly what she deserved.

“Huff… Huff…”
At around 7 a.m., Qi Siyu jolted awake, covered in a fine layer of sweat, eyes wide with shock.
She’d had a nightmare—one where she became the tragic Dou E, beheaded by a cold-blooded executioner version of Gu Qing, her bl00d soaking the execution platform.
What kind of random horror dream was that?!
Wiping sweat from her forehead and neck, Qi Siyu tried to fall back asleep, but it was no use.
When the eighth hour-long hand-holding requirement was finally fulfilled, she slipped out of bed quietly, washed her face, and headed outside.
She arranged for a caregiver to stay with Gu Qing and strolled toward the hospital entrance.
To her surprise, this time, she didn’t get zapped when crossing the boundary.
Her eyes lit up, and she cautiously continued to walk farther away. She wasn’t the type to go out much, but she had a rebellious streak—the moment something was off-limits, she just had to test it.
【Host, your current activity range has increased to a 1-kilometer radius.】 the system kindly reminded.
【Buzzkill.】 Qi Siyu’s excitement died instantly.
She spotted a nearby supermarket and walked in.
Time to buy a pomelo—to ward off the bad vibes from that nightmare.
Wandering into the snack aisle, she immediately spotted her favorite: red wine chocolate-flavored cookies.
She licked her canine tooth out of habit, almost tasting that rich, intoxicating red wine and chocolate pheromone.
There were 20 boxes on the shelf—she grabbed them all without sparing a glance at any other flavor.
She took another stroll through the aisles but didn’t see anything else worth buying, so she checked out and left.
Just as she turned the corner, she spotted a little wonton stand tucked into a side alley. She went in and had a steaming bowl of wontons.
With a full belly, she returned to the hospital room—it was already nearly 8:30.
Gu Qing was awake, and a caregiver was helping her wash her face.
When they heard the door, both turned to look.
“I’ve got it. You can head back now,” Qi Siyu said, putting down the bags and reaching toward the caregiver.
But the young woman looked at her with undisguised resentment.
Qi Siyu could sense she was trying hard to suppress her feelings, but her inexperience gave her away—her emotions were written all over her face.
Why does she hate me? Qi Siyu racked her brain for details from the original novel but couldn’t recall the original host harming anyone else.
“President Qi, someone like you probably isn’t used to caring for others. I’ll handle it. I used to take care of Sister Qing when she was sick,” the girl said, her grip on the towel visibly tight.
Gu Qing spoke coolly, “Let Xiao Ling do it.”
Sister Qing? Xiao Ling?
Qi Siyu suddenly remembered—yes, the original book did mention a loyal assistant who had once helped Gu Qing. A girl from the mountains, whom Gu Qing had saved after she was scammed.
Their manager Wang Fang had tricked the girl into returning home to avoid her interfering. Later, after Gu Qing made her comeback, she found Xiao Ling again—but by then, Xiao Ling was married with a child and had declined to return.
“Why are you here?” Qi Siyu asked.
“I-I heard about Sister Qing while at the market… and came on my own,” Xiao Ling admitted nervously.
In the original story, Xiao Ling had also come to visit but was caught and sent away by the bodyguards Qi Siyu had stationed. She’d never even gotten to see Gu Qing.
But since Qi Siyu had transmigrated in, those guards were long gone—so Xiao Ling had successfully snuck into the hospital.
Qi Siyu frowned. Letting her stay would definitely interfere with lottery progress and complicate nighttime ointment applications.
But refusing wasn’t an option either. One look at Gu Qing’s expression and Qi Siyu wisely nodded.
“Alright, you take care of A-Qing. You can sleep in the room next door. There’s no space in here.”
Xiao Ling was just about to offer to sleep on the floor when Gu Qing gave a quiet “Mm.”
Though still uneasy—worried Qi Siyu might harm Gu Qing at night—Xiao Ling agreed. “Okay.”
A fair compromise. Qi Siyu was more than satisfied.
She sat on the couch and unpacked the pomelo, filling the room with its fresh, citrusy scent.
She didn’t like pomelos—too sour—but she bought it to cleanse the bad energy.
“Want some?” she offered.
Xiao Ling blinked, caught off guard that Qi Siyu would speak to her. She shook her head instantly. “No.”
She was afraid the fruit was poisoned. After all, Qi Siyu had a history of drugging Gu Qing.
Unaware of the storm brewing in Xiao Ling’s mind, Qi Siyu simply placed the pomelo on the table.
She then opened a pack of cookies, munching away while scrolling on her phone.
Gu Qing’s gaze fell on the cookie box. With sharp eyesight and not much distance, she clearly saw the words: Red Wine Chocolate Flavor.
She frowned slightly.
Was Qi Siyu acting again?
Not only did she used to hate chocolate—she was also allergic to it. Why would she be happily eating chocolate cookies?
The disturbing part was: Gu Qing could actually see contentment in Qi Siyu’s eyes.
Completely unaware anything was wrong, Qi Siyu crunched away, genuinely delighted. The mild itching on her neck and face went unnoticed. Her slight dizziness, she chalked up to being full.
Until—
A doctor walked in, snatched the cookie from her hand, and snapped: “You’re having an allergic reaction.”
Qi Siyu: !
