- Chapter 1 - Wedding Night
“Chi Lengzhao, you’re despicable and shameless!”
With all the strength she could muster, Shen Zhixi shoved Chi Lengzhao hard. There was a loud thud—then silence.
Moments passed. It felt like a century, yet also just a few seconds. The person slumped on the floor let out a low groan of pain.
“Ugh… it hurts…”
The air was filled with a sweet, lingering scent—like osmanthus flowers blooming under the crisp, clear skies of October. It drifted through the room like a gentle stream, wrapping around her softly.
She had always loved the scent of osmanthus in the air.
But the timing was wrong. The fragrance usually filled courtyards and parks around National Day in early autumn, and yet it was still midsummer. She had just eaten a box of sea salt and cheese-flavored ice cream.
It was a new luxury flavor launched by Brand X, and she’d been invited to a private tasting event as a VIP. The event had been beautiful—nighttime by the pool, live music, entertainment, and even a celebrity endorsement.
As for the taste of the new product… it was hard to describe. Why hadn’t they released an osmanthus-flavored ice cream instead?
Just like the one she was smelling now—so elegant, so ethereal. Only a goddess could carry such a mesmerizing fragrance.
The pain at the back of her head dragged Chi Lengzhao back to reality. She reached up and touched her scalp. Her head must have slammed into something hard.
“Ow… that really hurts!”
To her surprise, her hand felt warm and sticky.
Startled, she brought her palm in front of her face. It was covered in bl00d.
With her other hand, she reached back and found a wound, deep and wet with bl00d.
She stared at her bloody hands in shock. Her eyes widened.
Her head was bleeding. She had actually cracked her skull.
On the bed, Shen Zhixi’s long black hair spread like silk across the sheets. One strap of her camisole had fallen down her delicate arm, revealing her smooth shoulder, her graceful neck, and the fine curve of her collarbone.
The glands at the back of her neck were swollen and hot. Her pale skin had taken on a pink flush. Her body was burning with heat, as if set on fire.
After pushing Chi Lengzhao away with the last of her strength, she collapsed onto the bed.
And finally, her pheromones spilled out.
The scent of an S-Class Omega quickly filled the entire room. The osmanthus fragrance grew thicker, clinging to the air.
Shen Zhixi lay helplessly on the soft, wide mattress. Her fingers curled into her palms, nails digging in. She bit her lips hard, struggling to resist the overwhelming heat of her pheromones.
She hated herself for not being reborn sooner. If only she had come back before being drugged. Before marrying this demonic Alpha, Chi Lengzhao. Better yet, before she fell into the trap entirely.
But no. She was reborn on her wedding night—the moment she was drugged by Chi Lengzhao.
Under the effects of the aphrodisiac, her pheromones exploded. Her body grew hotter by the second. Without an inhibitor or an Alpha’s mark, she would literally burn up from the heat.
In her previous life, Chi Lengzhao had taken advantage of that moment. She had hidden every single inhibitor and thrown her onto the bed.
An Omega’s strength was no match for an Alpha’s. Shen Zhixi had been overpowered almost instantly.
She would never forget Chi Lengzhao’s cruel and twisted smile.
“Shen Zhixi, my beautiful bride. Let’s make this wedding night exciting, shall we?”
“No! Let go of me! You promised you wouldn’t force me!”
That devil had only laughed.
“We weren’t married then. I had to pretend to be nice. But now that we’re legally married, isn’t this exactly what’s expected?”
“You’ve been lying to me all along!”
“How else could I get you? You’re so beautiful. You smell incredible. You’re the most desirable Omega in Haibin. So many people dream of having you. Tonight, I’ll mark you.”
“Let me go! Let me go!”
There was a loud slap during the struggle.
A red handprint bloomed across her soft, fair cheek.
Shen Zhixi clutched her face, her eyes bloodshot with shock and fury, as the monster tore away his disguise and showed his true, twisted face.
Chi Lengzhao’s Alpha pheromones took over the entire room.
“You’d better behave. Right now, you’re just a little mouse in my hands. I’ll play with you however I like. If you please me, I might consider helping your father. Or… are you ready to let Meixi fall apart?”
That last sentence shattered what little resistance she had left.
Biting her lip, tears of humiliation streaming down her face, Shen Zhixi dropped her hands and stopped trying to fight.
That night, Chi Lengzhao marked her over and over again, leaving her broken in every way.
In this new life, the moment Chi Lengzhao tried to drug her again, Shen Zhixi struck first. With all her strength, she shoved her away.
Chi Lengzhao crashed into the corner of the table and collapsed.
The table was made from solid huanghuali wood, heavy and sturdy, a family heirloom passed down through generations of the Chi family.
Chi Lengzhao had always thought it was ugly and out of place among the modern furniture. She wanted to get rid of it. But her father, Chi Jintang, insisted she keep it in the newlywed room.
Taking advantage of Chi Lengzhao’s unconsciousness, Shen Zhixi rushed toward the door.
But the bedroom door was locked—from the inside. It had a double-sided keypad lock. Shen Zhixi panicked and tried several codes, but nothing worked.
Damn it!
Chi Lengzhao had clearly changed the password, determined to mark her that night.
Frantic, Shen Zhixi began pounding on the door. But the heavy door had been custom-made for soundproofing. In fact, the entire room had been soundproofed—for Chi Lengzhao’s convenience.
The drug was taking effect fast. Her neck glands began reacting. Pheromones leaked out uncontrollably. Her head spun. Her body grew hotter and hotter. Her strength faded, and her hands grew weaker against the door.
No one answered.
On their wedding night, the housekeepers and staff had all been dismissed. Chi Lengzhao’s drunk friends had made some noise, then left.
Now, the huge villa was empty—except for the two of them.
Shen Zhixi had no choice. She turned back and began searching the room for an inhibitor.
She needed it, fast. Otherwise, she would soon collapse—or worse.
One drawer after another, she searched in desperation.
Just like in her past life, every last inhibitor had been taken away.
Shen Zhixi quickly realized something—she needed a phone.
She had to contact someone. Anyone. A friend, an ambulance, emergency services—it didn’t matter who. Her phone had been in her handbag. Earlier, during the wedding, her bridesmaid had held onto it for her. But now, the handbag that had just been by the bedside was gone.
She could easily guess who had taken it.
Her pheromones were pouring out faster and faster. Her body was overheating, waves of scorching heat rushing to her brain. Her thoughts became sluggish. Her mind was slipping into a haze.
She turned to look at the devil herself.
Chi Lengzhao was still slumped on the floor, completely motionless.
Then Shen Zhixi saw it—her phone was in Chi Lengzhao’s pocket.
A bold idea crossed her mind. While that monster was unconscious, she could take her phone and use her fingerprint to unlock it.
Shen Zhixi was burning up. Her breathing was shallow and fast. She leaned against the wall and slowly stepped closer to her enemy, her heart pounding so hard she could hear it. She didn’t know if Chi Lengzhao was truly unconscious, or just pretending—waiting for her to get close, only to suddenly open her eyes with a wicked grin and pin her down again.
But she couldn’t think about that now. Her eyes were locked on the rectangular outline in that pocket. That was her only hope.
Still, Chi Lengzhao didn’t move.
When Shen Zhixi got close enough, she noticed something strange.
There was so much bl00d.
It had pooled around Chi Lengzhao on the floor, soaking into the wood like she was sitting in a puddle of it.
Shen Zhixi’s gaze followed the trail of bl00d up from the floor, to the table leg, to the back of Chi Lengzhao’s head. Bl00d had soaked her hair and was still trickling down in steady streams.
Chi Lengzhao was eerily still. Too still. Unnaturally still.
Fear crept into Shen Zhixi’s chest. Her eyes widened as dread filled her heart. She reached out, hand trembling, moving slowly toward the tip of Chi Lengzhao’s nose to check if she was still breathing…
Suddenly, the world tilted. The pheromones inside her exploded. The glands at the back of her neck felt like they were about to split open. Her vision spun violently, and she collapsed backward onto the wedding bed.
The searing heat from the back of her neck quickly spread through her whole body. Her breath was hot like fire. Every cell in her body felt like it was boiling, screaming for relief. Even her vision was beginning to blur.
“Inhibitor… I need an inhibitor…”
The words came out in a broken, desperate whisper.
Was she really going to die from heat in this life too?
She bit down hard, refusing to give in. Her father was still waiting for her to save Meixi. That life-or-death company was relying on her.
She looked over at the unconscious woman on the floor.
Chi Lengzhao… are you dying too?
You disgusting devil. You deserve it.
Fine. If I can’t save Meixi, then at least this time, I’ll drag you to hell with me.
Just then, Chi Lengzhao slowly pushed herself up off the floor. Bloody handprints smeared across the ground and table as she moved.
The back of her head was icy and still throbbing in pain. She’d clearly taken a serious blow.
When she looked down and saw the pool of bl00d beneath her, she gasped sharply.
She had lost so much bl00d. Was she going to bleed out right here?
She glanced around. This place was completely unfamiliar. There was a large bed nearby, and lying on it was a woman in a white wedding gown. Her skin was flushed a soft pink, her eyes glazed, her gaze locked on Chi Lengzhao. One strap of her gown had slipped off her shoulder, revealing a perfect collarbone and smooth, delicate skin shaped like it had been carved from marble.
Chi Lengzhao had a thing for beautiful shoulders. And this one was perfect. She couldn’t help but glance at her a second time.
The woman was stunning. Despite the unnatural flush on her face, she had a flawless forehead, porcelain skin, a high nose bridge, and a delicate jawline—every feature like a sculpture.
She was lying with her knees slightly bent, exposing a slender, pale calf. Her body, wrapped loosely in sheer fabric, hinted at a slim waist that looked like it would fit perfectly in someone’s arms.
Even more enchanting was the lingering scent of osmanthus that surrounded her. She was, without a doubt, her osmanthus goddess.
But Chi Lengzhao’s attention was soon drawn to the bright red “double happiness” character pasted on the window. There were also two sets of red wedding robes laid out on the bench at the end of the bed.
This was… a wedding room?
To be exact, this was a wedding night suite.
But how had she ended up here?
She distinctly remembered drinking with her friends at a villa, celebrating the public launch of her newest company. She’d had a bit too much to drink from excitement.
Even if she passed out, she should have woken up on the living room couch, or in her own bedroom—not in an unfamiliar room, bleeding from her head.
What the hell was going on?
Chi Lengzhao forced herself to look away from her osmanthus goddess. She was still bleeding and needed to find something to stop it, medicine or pressure.
Drawers all over the room had been thrown open, as if someone had ransacked the place. The table nearby was a mess of unsettling objects—whips, ropes, candles…
Chi Lengzhao sneered with contempt.
It seemed the owner of this place was a sick pervert too.
Chi Lengzhao rummaged through drawers for a while but found nothing—no medical supplies, no tools, not even a single band-aid.
She headed to the bathroom, washed the bl00d off her hands, grabbed a few tissues to wipe them dry, then randomly pulled out a large towel and wrapped it tightly around her head to stem the bleeding. She walked over to the door, intending to leave…
It was locked—with a keypad.
She stared blankly at the number pad, then gave it a try.
Six eights. Six zeroes. 123456.
No luck. None of the three most popular six-digit passwords worked.
Great. She was stuck.
With no other choice, Chi Lengzhao turned back toward the woman lying on the bed. If she was here, maybe she knew the password?
As soon as her fingers brushed the woman’s skin, a sudden wave of intense heat radiated up through her fingertips. At the same time, a rich, overwhelming scent of osmanthus flooded her senses.
Omega pheromones!
Chi Lengzhao froze in shock. Such powerful, concentrated pheromones—this woman was definitely an S-Class Omega!
She reacted as if she had been ambushed. Instantly, she leapt back from the bed, one hand clutching the back of her neck in alarm.
“Hey! Wake up! What’s the password?” Chi Lengzhao was panicking—more panicked than she had been when she realized her head was bleeding.
She had to get out of here, fast. Away from this Omega. Away from this pheromone-heavy room filled with osmanthus scent. She couldn’t afford to be exposed to an S-Class Omega’s pheromones. She couldn’t let her glands get stimulated. She couldn’t risk leaking her own pheromones.
“The password—tell me the password to the door! Wake up! Wake up!”
No matter how many times she shouted, the woman on the bed simply gazed at her with unfocused, dazed eyes. Her lips parted and moved slightly, as if she were trying to speak.
Chi Lengzhao held her breath, still clutching the back of her neck, carefully moving closer to the source of the scent, straining to hear.
At last, she could make out what the woman was saying—
“Get out…”
