- Chapter 10 - How dare you harass my wife?
It was only then that Shen Zhixi got a clear look at the woman’s face. She wasn’t unfamiliar—this was Shi Xin, one of Chi Lengzhao’s notorious party friends, known by the nickname “Triple Gold.”
Shen Zhixi responded with a cold and indifferent “Hello,” then turned away, clearly unwilling to engage with this kind of degenerate—utterly repugnant trash.
“Where are you headed, sis-in-law? And where’s Lengzhao? Isn’t he with you?”
Shi Xin’s enthusiasm was completely unaffected by Shen Zhixi’s icy demeanor.
Yesterday, her grandmother had been hospitalized after a heart attack. Today, Shen Zhixi had reluctantly come to the hospital only because her mother had insisted over and over. What should have been a dull hospital visit suddenly became interesting the moment she ran into Shen Zhixi.
Shi Xin quickly glanced at the hallway’s surveillance camera, then stepped sideways to block its view.
At that moment, the corridor was empty. The nurses had followed the doctors into the patient rooms.
Without restraint, Shi Xin grabbed a lock of Shen Zhixi’s hair, lifting it to her nose and inhaling deeply. “Mmm, so fragrant—like sweet osmanthus. You smell amazing, sis-in-law.”
Shen Zhixi jerked her head back and took a step away, her voice turning cold. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“No need to be nervous, sis-in-law,” Shi Xin said, grinning like a wolf eyeing a rabbit, stepping closer. “No wonder you’re hailed as the top Omega in Haibin. Just one night and you’ve already got Lengzhao wrapped around your finger.”
Shen Zhixi had no interest in engaging. She spotted the elevator approaching and tried to sidestep Shi Xin to leave.
But before she could, Shi Xin grabbed her wrist and yanked her into her arms, leering shamelessly. “Why rush off? Sis-in-law, I’m not any worse than Lengzhao, you know.”
As an Omega, Shen Zhixi couldn’t overpower an Alpha. She hadn’t expected Shi Xin to be so brazen—daring to assault her in a hospital corridor.
Pulled tightly into Shi Xin’s embrace, Shen Zhixi struggled desperately, her face flushing with frustration. But it was no use. All she could do was scream, “Let go of me! I don’t even know you!”
“Once isn’t enough to get to know someone. Sis-in-law, I really do admire you. Why don’t you try my pheromones?”
With a wicked smirk, Shi Xin released her pheromones—a distinct tobacco scent drifting from the back of her neck.
Clearly, she intended to forcibly trigger Shen Zhixi’s glandular reaction using her Alpha scent.
“Let me go! Let go of me!”
Shi Xin’s arms tightened like a vice. The more Shen Zhixi struggled, the more excited she became, a fire kindling in her chest.
She had long fantasized about what it would be like to taste the most coveted Omega in Haibin. And to think, Chi Lengzhao had even disobeyed her for this woman—it was unforgivable.
Smirking devilishly, Shi Xin brought her lips closer to Shen Zhixi’s neck, about to lick her scent gland. “Very soon, you’ll be begging me…”
Ding. The elevator doors opened.
Xia Lian hadn’t expected to walk into such a scene. She saw this disgusting woman forcing herself on Shen Zhixi, clearly trying to stimulate her scent gland.
“What the hell are you doing?!” Xia Lian shouted, charging forward and punching Shi Xin square in the face. “Let her go!”
Caught off guard by the sudden blow, Shi Xin stumbled, her grip loosening. Shen Zhixi seized the opportunity and broke free from her embrace.
“You scumbag!” Xia Lian roared, landing another punch.
Shi Xin adjusted her glasses and, after seeing the doctor’s white coat, sneered dismissively. “You? A little doctor like you? Do you even know who I am?”
She didn’t dodge. In fact, she raised her head proudly, eyes gleaming with malice. “Do you think someone like you can touch me?”
Xia Lian’s fist stopped in midair.
“Even your Director Lü bows and scrapes before me. You? You’re nothing but an ant. You clearly don’t know your place!” Shi Xin gloated, unafraid. “If you lay a hand on me today, I’ll make sure you’re blacklisted from every hospital in Haibin.”
Xia Lian’s fists trembled with restrained fury. Her teeth clenched so hard they creaked.
But the punch never landed.
She needed this job. Her mother’s medical bills, her younger sister’s tuition—it all depended on her income.
Humiliation, rage—but she had no choice but to swallow it down.
“Bullshit! You disgusting piece of trash!” came a voice, growing louder and closer. “You think Director Lü bows to you? Shameless!”
And in an instant, the voice arrived.
“Chi Lengzhao?!”
Shi Xin turned around—just in time to catch a punch square in the nose. Her vision went blurry, stars exploded behind her eyes, and bl00d gushed down her face.
“She’s not qualified to hit you? Then how about me?” Chi Lengzhao didn’t wait for a response. Her next punch landed hard on Shi Xin’s chin. The impact made Shi Xin bite her own tongue, pain surging through her jaw. She clutched her mouth as bl00d dripped from her lips.
“You disgusting piece of trash! How dare you lay a finger on my wife? I swear I’ll beat the hell out of you!”
Chi Lengzhao threw a third punch straight into Shi Xin’s stomach.
Shi Xin doubled over, her whole body folding like a shrimp. Pain twisted her face as she groaned in agony.
Then Chi Lengzhao raised her knee and slammed it into Shi Xin’s side. Crack—a chilling sound of bone breaking. Shi Xin crumpled to the floor.
“You scummy Alpha, how dare you touch my wife?” Chi Lengzhao yelled, kicking her several more times. “And you seriously released that nasty tobacco-smelling pheromone? In a hospital? You clearly missed the ‘No Smoking’ signs!”
The noise drew a crowd—nurses and patients spilled into the hallway.
“Wait, is that Shen Zhixi?”
“It really looks like her!”
When the nurses heard the comment about smoking, a few chuckled quietly.
Hua Zi, wearing sunglasses and a mask, rushed over. “Miss, are you alright?”
Shen Zhixi shook her head, worried that Chi Lengzhao might go too far. She grabbed her sleeve and said softly, “That’s enough. Lengzhao—Zhaozhao—please, stop.”
Chi Lengzhao finally let go, glaring down at the bloodied figure on the ground like a wolf over its prey.
Shi Xin lay there helpless, beaten and humiliated, her face covered in bl00d. She looked up, eyes burning with rage. “Chi Lengzhao, you really hit me that hard?! Do you even consider me a friend?”
“No real friend would try to mess with someone’s wife. I don’t need a ‘friend’ like you.”
Chi Lengzhao’s voice was firm and righteous—but inside, she was thinking: Who even are you? I don’t remember you at all.
And if the original me really was friends with someone like you, then I probably wasn’t much better. Birds of a feather, right? Frankly, you had this coming.
Shi Xin, seeing that Chi Lengzhao had completely cut ties, clenched her teeth and spat, “Fine! Chi Lengzhao, just you wait!”
She scrambled to her feet, cursing under her breath. “I’m going to sue you! You broke my bones! I’ll make sure you end up behind bars!”
Summer Lian stood off to the side and said coolly, “A fracture doesn’t count as a serious injury. If you want an official diagnosis, should we ask Director Lü to personally take a look?”
Shi Xin just scoffed and turned away.
By now, the crowd had pieced things together. It was obvious that Shi Xin had tried to harass Shen Zhixi first.
Everyone knew Shen Zhixi had just gotten married. Chi Lengzhao was her new spouse. And yet this woman had the nerve to hit on someone else’s wife and still claim to be her friend? She got exactly what she deserved.
During the scuffle, Chi Lengzhao’s old wound had reopened. Bl00d seeped through the bandage, staining it red.
Inside the hospital room, Butler Zhou panicked. “Miss, you’re bleeding again!”
Chi Lengzhao hadn’t noticed at first. But when she reached back to touch her head, her fingers came away sticky. Still, she remained calm. “It’s fine. Just get a doctor to patch it up again.”
Butler Zhou muttered bitterly, “Miss Shi went too far this time. And to think she still calls herself your friend.” Then he rushed out to find a doctor.
Miss Shi? Shi Xin?
So she really was a former friend of the old Chi Lengzhao?
Chi Lengzhao scoffed to herself. Good. I’d rather not be friends with someone like her anyway.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
It was Xue Pantao.
“Zhao, what happened? Sanjin said you beat her half to death. She’s leaving the group chat and cutting you off!”
“Then let her. I have no interest in keeping company with someone like her. I’m quitting the group chat too.”
Xue Pantao: “…”
Moments later, another call came in—this time from You Neihan.
“Zhao, what on earth happened between you and Sanjin? Why is everyone quitting the group?”
Chi Lengzhao was just about to respond when Neihan cut in, “Never mind, I get it. Pantao and I will come see you. Since we’re all in the same hospital, it’s convenient to drop by anyway.”
Chi Lengzhao stared at her phone, stunned.
What do you mean you ‘get it’? What exactly do you think you understand?
