Song Jiao huddled on the bed, trembling uncontrollably.
Xu Jinzhao had been gone for a while. At first, she made some noise outside, but now there was complete silence.
She didn’t know what had happened, why the Alpha had suddenly changed her mind and decided not to force herself on her. But Song Jiao was still trembling with fear, taking shallow breaths, desperately trying to gather her strength.
Song Jiao lay there for a long time, maybe twenty minutes, maybe half an hour, or maybe only five minutes, because she had completely lost her sense of time.
She was like a stray cat hit by a car, lying there dying, unable to move.
It wasn’t that Song Jiao didn’t want to get up. She desperately wanted to hide, to get far away from Xu Jinzhao.
But Song Jiao couldn’t. The Alpha’s malicious pheromones twisted her mind, and just managing to curl her limbs and curl up like a baby in its mother’s womb had exhausted all her energy.
She had just recovered from a low fever, and after bathing, she had put on a long-sleeved button-down nightgown, carefully covering her body from head to toe.
But now, it had been roughly pulled open by the Alpha, the cotton skirt crumpled messily at her waist and hips, and Song Jiao didn’t even have the strength to reach out and pull it down, to preserve at least a semblance of decency.
Xu Jinzhao’s scent still lingered in the air. The Alpha’s rutting pheromones were pungent and aggressive, and every time Song Jiao inhaled a bit, she trembled even more violently.
She was terrified, truly terrified.
How could she have been so naive as to think she could protect herself? How could she have been so naive as to think she could resist her instincts with willpower? What should she do, what should she do?
Song Jiao’s pride and self-respect were shattered by reality.
She couldn’t stop sobbing. At first, it was just a faint whimper, because she was afraid that Xu Jinzhao might have fallen asleep outside, and that her voice would wake the Alpha and bring her back.
But physiological reactions were not easily controlled, and Song Jiao soon began to sob intermittently.
The Omega’s cries and the warm yellow light from the window faintly leaked out.
After another unknown amount of time, Song Jiao finally regained her composure.
The hallway outside was still dark and silent. She reached under the mattress and pulled out the small knife she had hidden earlier, clutching it tightly in her hand, trying to draw some sense of security.
She stepped barefoot onto the carpet, her white toes curled, her long hair disheveled, tiptoeing like a little mermaid emerging from the sea, and went to the bedroom door, closing it as slowly as possible.
Xu Jinzhao’s fingerprints allowed her access to every room in the house, so Song Jiao’s actions were just a small psychological comfort.
After closing the door, she held the knife blade tightly against her chest, but her anxiety and fear didn’t diminish at all. The feeling of suffocation in her throat only intensified.
Song Jiao finally hid in the bathroom.
The bathroom door had a latch, not an electronic lock. Song Jiao locked the sliding door and curled up in the bathtub, pretending that the fragile glass door could stop the Alpha’s intrusion.
Her mind was a jumble of thoughts, sometimes thinking about fighting Xu Jinzhao, sometimes thinking about running away, and sometimes recalling the despair of being suppressed by the Alpha’s pheromones to the point of collapse.
Under the shock, she, already sick, began to run a fever.
Song Jiao didn’t notice her rising temperature, but the high fever made her mind hazy, and she turned on the hot water tap.
The water rose above her ankles, her calves, and the hem of her wet green nightgown floated, like large, spreading lotus leaves.
Song Jiao rolled up her sleeves and dipped her hands into the water.
The Omega’s jade-like arms shimmered in the water.
Why, she thought, she hadn’t done anything wrong, and she would never pay the price for someone else’s wrongdoing.
Song Jiao’s consciousness gradually faded, and she finally slumped down in the bathtub, falling into a feverish sleep, her beautiful face flushed with steam.
Xu Jinzhao sneezed loudly, the early autumn night wind chilling her to the bone.
She had made up her mind that even if she had to dig out her own scent glands first, it would be better than losing control and hurting Song Jiao.
But now was not the time for that, and she didn’t have Song Jiao’s willpower to destroy her own glands.
Xu Jinzhao was freezing, and if she stayed on the rooftop all night, her little wife would probably happily come to collect her corpse the next day.
The problem was that Xu Jinzhao was afraid of losing control, and her precautions were too thorough. The nylon zip tie was still tightly binding her left wrist to the railing.
She searched her pockets and found a windproof lighter.
Xu Jinzhao lit the lighter, and the blue flame licked at the nylon zip tie in the night wind, quickly burning it through.
Her wrist was already marked with bloody marks, but her whole body was injured. Her right hand had her own bloody tooth marks on the tiger’s mouth, which was already swollen and deformed, so the marks on her wrist were nothing.
She limped downstairs, trying to be as quiet as possible so as not to startle Song Jiao.
There was no light on the second floor, and Song Jiao must have closed the bedroom door.
Xu Jinzhao turned on the hall light, found the medicine cabinet according to her memory, and found the latest Alpha inhibitor injections and sprays.
Xu Jinzhao first injected herself, then picked up the spray bottle and sprayed half a bottle on the back of her neck, ensuring that she was calm and had no scent leaking out, before changing her shoes and walking to Song Jiao’s bedroom door.
This time, she deliberately made some footsteps, so as not to scare Song Jiao by suddenly speaking outside the door.
Xu Jinzhao felt a little awkward. She cleared her throat and said in a low voice, “Song Jiao, I’m sorry, I got drunk today…”
She cursed the original owner in her heart. That beast had died and left her, Xu Jinzhao, to clean up the mess.
She forced herself to promise to Song Jiao in the bedroom.
“I swear, I will never do this again. Don’t worry, get a good night’s sleep tonight.”
There was no sound from inside the door.
Xu Jinzhao didn’t believe that Song Jiao could fall asleep peacefully. She raised her voice and asked, “Song Jiao? Are you okay?”
Still no response.
Xu Jinzhao had a bad feeling and asked tentatively, “Can I come in and see you?”
She waited for a moment and then gently opened the door.
The beautiful Omega was not on the bed in the bedroom. Xu Jinzhao opened the closet, then lay on the floor and looked under the bed, but they were all empty. She then turned her attention to the closed bathroom door.
Xu Jinzhao knocked on the door frame twice: “Song Jiao?”
The deathly silence made Xu Jinzhao’s heart race. She pushed the bathroom door in a panic, but couldn’t open it no matter how hard she shook it. She simply moved the chair in front of the dressing table and smashed it against the door with the chair leg.
The frosted glass shattered, and the sweet peach scent unique to the Omega rushed out with the heat. Xu Jinzhao didn’t dare to sniff it carefully, but saw that the shower curtain was tightly closed, and she couldn’t see clearly behind it.
She reached out and opened the locked latch, rushed in and pulled open the shower curtain, and almost stopped breathing.
The Omega lay in the bathtub filled with water, her seaweed-like dark hair spread on the water, her large green nightgown deeply soaked, slightly floating and swaying. Her delicate face was tilted on her shoulder, her cheeks flushed, her eyes tightly closed, and her beautiful eyebrows were tightly furrowed.
Xu Jinzhao was flustered and didn’t dare to touch her for a moment, but the next second, she decisively placed her hand on Song Jiao’s wet, flushed neck.
The feel of her skin was still enchantingly delicate and beautiful, but Xu Jinzhao only noticed the beating of her pulse and her high fever. The former made Xu Jinzhao breathe a sigh of relief, and the latter made her hold her breath again.
Song Jiao had a fever. It wasn’t necessary to use a thermometer to test it. Just touching her could tell that it was a dangerous high fever.
Xu Jinzhao couldn’t let her soak in the bathtub like this, but after shaking her shoulders twice, she couldn’t wake the feverish Omega.
Although she had both internal and external inhibitors, the fragrant scent that filled the room still made Xu Jinzhao dizzy. Her breath unconsciously became short and rapid, and she couldn’t control herself from smelling it, and her back began to sweat.
The person in the room was burning with fever, and she, who had been sweating and blowing cold wind outside, was jumping around with energy, and even had the energy to fantasize.
Xu Jinzhao sighed, reached out and put her arms around Song Jiao’s neck and the bend of her legs, and after confirming that she could hold her steady, she lifted the Omega out of the bathtub, dripping wet.
Song Jiao had lost consciousness from the fever, and leaned softly in Xu Jinzhao’s arms.
The high fever caused an increasingly intense and sweet peach fragrance to emanate from the Omega’s body, making Xu Jinzhao afraid to even look down. She began to feel dizzy and excited.
She could bet that if Song Jiao were awake, she would definitely be able to clearly hear her rabbit-like heartbeat.
