- Chapter 17 - The First Step in Exposing the White Lotus
“Sister, didn’t we agree before? You’re not supposed to reveal your identity or mention our relationship…”
The sharp, needle-like gaze disappeared, and Xia Qian’s tone sounded like an interrogation.
“I just had a sudden realization, sister. Consider it me going back on my word… After all, those people were too much…”
Mu Suru took big bites of her shrimp, then elegantly wiped the grease from her mouth.Â
After tidying up her lunch box, she prepared to go to the restroom to wash up.
Xia Qian’s eyelid twitched in frustration.Â
If Mu Suru acted like this, her older brother would blame her for keeping things hidden. That couldn’t happen, she had to think of something…
“Oh, so you’re hiding here? What a deep sisterly bond!”
A teasing voice came from a beautiful woman.
Liu Yi, with her yellow-dyed hair, had exquisite facial features, though she wore heavy smoky makeup unsuitable for her age.Â
She was dressed in a revealing black crop top and high-waisted shorts, her fiery figure drawing lustful stares from the boys who had just returned from lunch.
Her face was full of arrogance, and she looked at Xia Qian as if she were filthy mud.
“Mu Suru, what you said at the school gate, is it true?”
Liu Yi stood at the forefront of her group of underlings, clearly the leader.
Xia Qian tightly clenched her skirt, gripping so hard that her fingertips turned white.
This girl, Liu Yi, was also a student in Class 3 of the first year, just like Xia Qian. As Gu Pei’s lackey, Liu Yi had her own small group of followers.Â
She despised fake white lotus girls, so naturally, she disliked Xia Qian.
And with her father being the vice principal of Lin High’s prestigious school, no one dared cross her.Â
As for why she followed Gu Pei…
Liu Yi would say it was out of admiration for Gu Pei’s ruthlessness when it came to beating people!
Mu Suru’s eyebrows relaxed, and her lips curled into a honey-sweet smile. “Of course it’s true, Sister Liu.”
Liu Yi’s smug expression froze for a moment. This… girl is so obedient!
She coughed twice and then said something shocking: “Thanks…”
The surrounding fangirls were stunned, after knowing Liu Yi for so long, they’d never seen her speak so softly before! More importantly, she had thanked this idiot!
Liu Yi noticed the strange looks from her underlings and scowled. “What are you staring at? Go deal with that liar!”
She had always admired Jia Li, but to her dismay, he had fallen for Xia Qian.Â
He even ordered her not to bully her. Now, at last, she could gloat.
After Mu Suru spoke those words, Xia Qian’s face turned pale. Some classmates cast mocking and angry glances at her, feeling deceived. Xia Qian knew the good image she had worked so hard to build was crumbling!
“Hey, Xia Qian, sitting by the window, I need to talk to you…”
Liu Yi pulled a lollipop out of her pocket, unwrapped it, and shoved it into her mouth, speaking unclearly.
Xia Qian sat rigidly, pretending not to hear.
Too bad… Liu Yi bent down over her desk, her white arms resting on it, her ample chest almost touching Xia Qian’s face.
Mu Suru thought: Wow, that’s at least a C-cup!
The sweet, sugary scent filled the air. “Xia Qian, don’t think that just because I haven’t acted yet, you can get cocky… I have plenty of ways to make you wish you were dead.”
Xia Qian’s eyes widened as Liu Yi’s beautiful eyes glinted with undisguised malice.Â
A sudden memory came to her, and she screamed.
A month ago, Liu Yi and her gang had beaten up a notorious bully from a rival school.Â
Xia Qian, passing by, had tried to leave but was caught by Liu Yi’s lackeys. What she witnessed next was brutal.
The boy’s face was swollen and bruised, and when he tried to stab Liu Yi, she snatched the knife and plunged it into his arm.Â
Blood sprayed across the white wall, and his screams mixed with Liu Yi’s curses, creating a chilling melody.
Terrified, Xia Qian watched Liu Yi, wrapped in a violent aura, as if she had walked through a sea of corpses to stand before her.Â
Liu Yi gripped Xia Qian’s chin with her bloodstained hand, her strength almost crushing Xia Qian’s bones, making her cry out in pain.
Liu Yi’s pupils reflected Xia Qian’s horrified face. “Xia Qian, take this as a lesson, don’t mess with Jia Li again!”
She’s a devil…Â
I must stay away from her!
Xia Qian had chosen to forget this scene, but it came flooding back now.Â
Trembling, she shrank into her chair, muttering, “Don’t hit me…”
To the classmates, it seemed Liu Yi had said something that caused Xia Qian to lose control! Satisfied with Xia Qian’s reaction, Liu Yi was about to speak when a furious shout rang out.
“Liu Yi, didn’t I warn you not to bully Xia Qian?”
At the classroom door stood Jia Li, dressed in sportswear, holding a basketball. Sweat dampened his hair, and his double eyelids framed deep brown eyes burning with rage.Â
His handsome features were stained by anger.
Liu Yi turned to see him, her once indifferent eyes now rippling with emotion. “Jia Li, I didn’t bully Xia Qian. She just suddenly curled up on her own…”
“Enough! You disgust me!” His words, filled with contempt, were like knives, slicing Liu Yi’s heart in two.
She straightened up, her beautiful face showing vulnerability. “Jia Li, why won’t you believe me… The other students can testify!”
Classmate A: “Yeah, Xia Qian curled up on her own! Liu Yi didn’t threaten her!”
Classmate B: “This has nothing to do with Sister Liu!”
Classmate C: “Sister Liu was just trying to have a friendly chat with Xia Qian!”
Liu Yi: …
She just wanted them to say it wasn’t her fault, but this… felt off!
Xia Qian remained lost in her memories, her delicate face pale.
“I see now…” Jia Li looked at Liu Yi with a complicated expression, then strode over to Xia Qian.
His voice was clear and gentle as he called her name: “Xia Qian, wake up…”
In his brown eyes, there was only tenderness for Xia Qian.
Liu Yi laughed bitterly. So what am I to him?
They had grown up together, yet he didn’t trust her!
Mu Suru propped her chin up, clearly seeing the sadness in Liu Yi’s expression. Tears welled up in Liu Yi’s eyes, which she hastily wiped away, smudging her eyeliner until her eyes resembled a panda’s.
But the determination in her eyes hadn’t faded one bit.
When Mu Suru read this novel, she had admired Liu Yi as a supporting character because she loved fiercely and hated deeply. Loving Jia Li for three years without wavering, that was more than most could handle.
Too bad she fell for a scumbag…
