- Chapter 28 - The Green Tea Ren Zai
Mu Suru felt utterly exhausted. “Little Zai, come here.”
Ren Zai, somewhat reluctant, spat out the already chewed-up rose petals.
After a few hops, he sat obediently in front of Mu Suru, lifting his head in a plea for pats.
Mu Suru stiffened, her face gloomy as she gently patted his head. With some effort, she began, “Xiao Zai, walking isn’t done like that.”
She picked Ren Zai up and grabbed a rope, intending to tie his hands behind his back.
Throughout the difficult process, Ren Zai remained unusually cooperative, not struggling at all.
Once she finished, beads of sweat dotted Mu Suru’s smooth forehead, her body was still too weak.
Ren Zai, uncomfortable, tried to bend over, but forgot his hands were bound and almost fell forward.
Mu Suru hurriedly caught him and gently said, “Little Zai, I’ll hold you. Try taking a few steps.”
Ren Zai nodded slightly and cautiously took his first step.
But a wave of discomfort surged from his feet, making him let out a quiet “hmm.”
Mu Suru quickly told him to stop, realizing this was going to be more difficult than she thought.
She decided to show him videos of animals walking first.
The video showed a large gorilla, completely black and incredibly strong.
Its face, covered in fur, bore a smug expression.
It let out a loud, wailing cry, calling over its companions to watch. Satisfied, it pounded its furry chest, mimicking its trainer’s walk.
Standing up straight, it swung its arms back and forth with great swagger, pacing back and forth, soaking in the admiration of its peers.
Ren Zai watched the video repeatedly, then confidently declared, “I’ve got it.”
With a self-assured look, he started walking again.
This time, without Mu Suru’s help, he took two steps, one more than last time, before falling hard to the ground. Mu Suru was deeply concerned and wanted to rush to his aid, but held herself back, watching as Ren Zai slowly tried to stand up again.
He fell and got back up repeatedly.
His once fair skin was now bruised and battered, but Ren Zai gritted his teeth, suppressing the sounds of pain that wanted to escape his mouth.
His eyes, dark and shiny, were filled with determination and a sense of gratitude towards Mu Suru.
Seeing this, Mu Suru’s eyes stung with emotion, so she turned her head away, choosing not to watch anymore.
Why didn’t she help?
If Mu Suru helpedthe little villain now, he would never learn to walk on his own.
This was a step Ren Zai had to take by himself!
As night fell, Ren Zai’s body finally lay motionless on the ground.
Mu Suru walked over to find his face set in a stubborn expression.
His bruised and battered body twitched slightly, but he could no longer stand.
Mu Suru knelt beside him, intending to carry him on her back.
Ren Zai, his voice hoarse, shook his head and whispered, “Ru Tuan, I can still…”
She carried him up without waiting for him to finish, her voice firm, “Little Zai, today’s training is over. Don’t bite off more than you can chew, remember that lesson!”
Ren Zai lay on Mu Suru’s not-so-broad, even somewhat frail back.
He breathed in the faint milky scent that had embedded itself into his bones, and his eyes, dark as the night, flashed with a hint of obsession before that too was hidden beneath the bright moonlight.
Mu An had just finished his bath, with a white towel wrapped around his waist.
His pale, well-defined muscles gleamed, showcasing his lean, chiseled eight-pack.
His hair, still damp, was carelessly swept back, revealing sharp eyebrows. Beads of water rolled down his face, following the contour of his jawline, before trailing down his enticing Adam’s apple.
He lazily wiped his hair with a dry towel, the water soaking into it and leaving small damp spots. Then, with a slight squint of his peach blossom eyes, he strode forward, blocking Mu Suru, who was carrying Ren Zai.
“How did this little brat get all these injuries again?”
“Second Brother, he was practicing walking just now, and he fell.”
Mu An looked enviously at Mu Suru as she walked around him and placed Ren Zai on the sofa.
[New Task: Tell the villain a bedtime stories for one week]
What? Bedtime stories?
Mu Suru wasn’t great at storytelling. Oh well, she could only take it one step at a time.
Pushing aside her thoughts, she skillfully took out a first aid kit from a small table nearby and instructed Ren Zai to take off his clothes.
Ren Zai, struggling, lifted his arm slowly and painfully.
His fair little face was full of undeniable pain, making it hard for Mu Suru to watch.
She ended up helping him undress, ignoring the sly glint that flickered across Ren Zai’s eyes.
His upper body was frail and bony, with ribs so prominent you could almost count them.
Mu Suru, her expression serious, began applying disinfectant to his bruises with a cotton swab.
Meanwhile, Mu An’s eyes widened in disbelief as he watched Mu Suru help that little rascal undress. Damn brat! Taking advantage of my Ru Tuan like this!
Ren Zai, who was sensitive to gazes, felt Mu An’s deadly stare.
He shot Mu An a discreet glance, then shrank back slightly as if in fear.
Mu Suru was focused on treating his wounds when Ren Zai’s sudden movement made her apply the swab in the wrong place. She lifted her head, noticing that Ren Zai had glanced in a certain direction before making his fearful gesture.
Following his gaze, she locked eyes with Mu An, who wore a “ferocious” expression.
Mu Suru: “…”
“Second Brother, if you don’t have anything to do, you should go to bed.”
This polite dismissal left Mu An’s heart a little bruised.
He dragged his feet, looking back every few steps, hoping Mu Suru would call him back.
But to his disappointment, Mu Suru was doting on Ren Zai, gently comforting him, without sparing Mu An a single glance.
Like a bolt of lightning, it struck Mu An that his precious Suru’s eyes were no longer on him or his brother.
This brat was already bewitching Suru at such a young age!
What would happen when he grew up?
No way! Romance needed to be tightly controlled from a young age. Without his and his brother’s approval, this brat would never win over Ru Tuan!
With his mind made up, Mu An decided to talk to his brother about it after finishing tomorrow’s affairs.
With the weight lifted from his chest, he hummed a tune, happily heading upstairs.
After applying the medicine, Mu Suru carried Ren Zai to the room next to hers.
It was a simple room with black and white decor, nothing but those two colors. The lack of warmth made Mu Suru a little uncomfortable.
She tucked Ren Zai into bed, making sure the blanket was snug, and then sat by his bedside, pondering what story to tell.
T/N: “Green tea” in the title refers to a “green tea b*tch” (绿茶婊 in Chinese internet slang), which describes someone, often a woman, who pretends to be innocent, sweet, and pure but is actually manipulative or scheming, usually to get what they want from others. It contrasts with their outward appearance, making them seem two-faced.
