- Chapter 4 - Pity for the Little Villain
He nudged their bodies with his head and continued searching for the mother wolf.
In the bushes, four pairs of eyes were tightly fixed on the unknown creature as it rummaged around.
“Brother Luce, what species is that? I’ve never seen anything like it…” Blue’s tiny eyes, like green peas, flickered with a hint of fear as he whispered.
Luce didn’t respond because the unknown creature, which had been facing away from them, suddenly turned its head.
Ren Zai’s hair was a disheveled mess, resembling dried yellow straw, and his face was covered in soot.
His features were indistinguishable, but the pair of wolf-like, fierce, and glowing eyes were clear.
He was draped in the fur of some unknown animal, looking just like a mysterious creature.
At that moment, Ren Zai’s beast-like eyes were locked onto the spot where Luce and Blue were hiding.
Both Luce and Blue instinctively held their breath, not daring to make a sound.
After a while, Ren Zai turned his head back and resumed his actions.
The crisis averted, cold sweat broke out on Luce’s forehead, but he didn’t bother to wipe it away. Instead, he gripped the shotgun tightly in his hands.
The muzzle was trained on that small figure as if waiting for the right moment to shoot.
Ren Zai searched for a long time until he finally found the mother wolf, which was the wolf corpse Luce had fiercely pushed aside.
Its condition was even more miserable now; its head had been trampled beyond recognition, and its body was a bloody mess.
Ren Zai lowered his head and gently leaned against the mutilated body of the wolf.
Just like when he was a child, he made small whimpering sounds, as if he were seeking comfort from the mother wolf, wanting her to hold him and soothe him.
But she would never get up again!
That once mighty and majestic body had now fallen…
Under the old, weathered tree, wolf corpses were scattered everywhere, and the small figure nestled against one of the mutilated bodies.
Amidst the tragedy, there was a touch of familial warmth, yet a sense of danger lurked beneath.
“Bang!” The delayed gunshot finally came, and the bullet, with unstoppable momentum, embedded itself in Ren Zai’s hind leg.
Blood spurted out in a straight line, and the area covered by the brown fur was quickly soaked.
The pain made Ren Zai’s eyes turn blood-red. He bared his teeth, letting out a warning growl.
Luce pushed aside the grass in front of him and cautiously approached Ren Zai.
He prodded Ren Zai’s head with the long barrel of the shotgun, causing Ren Zai to grimace.
But Ren Zai no longer struggled; it was clear he had lost the strength to resist.
Relieved, Luce sighed and gave Blue a signal.
Blue shook his head vigorously, “No way I’m carrying this monster!”
Luce sneered, the scar at the corner of his eye making him look even more fierce. He reached out with his large hand to pick up the curled-up Ren Zai.
Just then, sharp claws sliced through the air.
“Hiss—” Luce’s tanned arm was slashed with five long, bloody gashes.
When they looked again, the culprit had already grabbed the vines in front of them and swung away while they were distracted.
Despite the bullet wound in his leg, the agile figure didn’t slow down at all and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
“Hiss, that was brutal!” Luce exclaimed exaggeratedly, looking at the bleeding claw marks on his arm.
Blue scratched his head, utterly confused, “Luce, you still haven’t explained why you didn’t just kill that monster. Instead, you only wounded its leg to disable it, and then you even tried to pick it up!”
Luce casually tossed the shotgun into Blue’s arms, then bit down hard on his sleeve, tearing a large hole. With a strong pull, a long strip of cloth appeared.
He slowly bandaged his wound, his words shocking Blue: “That monster just now was a wolf-child. I couldn’t kill him!”
Blue’s chubby body trembled, “A child raised by wolves?”
Who would have thought they’d encounter such a bizarre event?
After taking back the shotgun from Blue, Luce stepped on the wolf corpses and walked in the direction Ren Zai had fled.
“Hurry up, I’ve injured his right leg, limiting his movement. He won’t get far! Once we find him, we’ll take him to the orphanage…”
Blue hoisted his heavy backpack and followed.
The thick night covered the small figure hiding in the bushes.
Drops of blood bloomed like delicate flowers, guiding their footsteps in one direction.
Ren Zai curled up, desperately pressing down on his bleeding wound, his eyes glowing brightly with the hope of survival.
—————————————
Morning light streamed through the window, filling the fresh and natural bedroom with a warm atmosphere.
The dappled light shone on a delicate and petite face, even the fine hairs were visible.
Mu Suru frowned and pulled the blanket over her head, continuing to sleep soundly.
“Ding dong, ding dong…” The alarm clock began to ring.
Before long, a fair hand grabbed it without hesitation, ending its life.
Mu An was dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, with sharp short hair.
He wore a black skull earring, exuding a kind of roguish charm.
He looked down at his watch; there were still thirty minutes before they had to leave for Summer Paradise.
That little lazy pig hadn’t forgotten, had she?
“Brother, I’ll go up and hurry her…”
Mu Chen, still impeccably dressed in his suit without a single wrinkle, looked stern as always.
He wore gold-rimmed glasses, which reflected a glint of light, making his sharp eyes appear even more intimidating.
“Go ahead.”
【Villain Ren Zai’s blackening value is rising, +5+5】
【Current blackening value level: 10】
Mu Suru, who had been groggy moments ago, was suddenly wide awake. She threw off the blanket, rubbing her already messy long hair. Her face was flushed, clearly from the heat.
【Zero One, why is the little villain’s blackening value rising out of nowhere?】
【Last night, the wolf clan where the villain was staying was annihilated, and he was shot by hunters. He’s currently on the run.】
The original plot only mentioned that the villain was injured and fell unconscious, without explaining why.
So Mu Suru didn’t know what the villain had gone through.
Now that she knew, her heart felt heavy. He was just a ten-year-old child!
Mu Suru patted her face to wake herself up, then bent down to search for her slippers, which had been tossed somewhere.
Just as Mu An entered, he saw Suru bundled up in a crumpled little dinosaur onesie.
Because Mu Suru was bent over, the hood of the onesie was pulled over her head, making her look like a cute little dinosaur.
Mu An’s mouth twitched as he stepped over the shattered alarm clock and strode forward, grabbing the hood of the little dinosaur.
It was like he had her by the scruff, and Mu Suru struggled desperately, even reaching out to scratch Mu An.
But her arms were too short, and she eventually gave up, glaring at him with wide eyes.
Her bared teeth and fierce expression made her look like a little dinosaur ready to pounce.
Mu An laughed, his voice clear and tinged with a magnetic charm.
“Xiao Suru, are you role-playing? But you’re not doing it right. Let me show you how to…”
Mu Suru slapped away the hand pinching her cheek and continued to struggle.
Mu An, seemingly ready to let her go, released his grip, and with a thud, Mu Suru fell back onto the bed.
Rubbing her sore butt, she persisted in her search for the slippers.
Amused, Mu An retrieved the slippers from under the bed and seemed ready to help her put them on.
Mu Suru’s face felt warm at the thought of a man helping her put on her shoes, even if Mu An was her brother in this life, it still made her uncomfortable.
So her cute, white little feet wiggled and wiggled, refusing to extend towards Mu An.
Seeing the time, Mu An didn’t tease her any longer and placed the slippers on the floor.
“Wash up quickly, we’ll be waiting downstairs.”
With that, his tall figure disappeared through the door.
Mu Suru quickly slipped on her bunny slippers and started getting ready.
