- Chapter 41 - Mu An's Arrival
Dormitory
Xia Qian curled up in her bed, her wide eyes fixed on her phone screen.
An hour had passed since she sent the message, but there was still no reply.
Could something have happened to Yi Hu?
Suddenly panicking, she hastily removed her SIM card, then quickly jumped out of bed.
The noise she made was so loud that her roommate frowned and said, “Xia Qian, what on earth are you doing?”
Without answering, Xia Qian guiltily rushed to the bathroom, threw the SIM card into the sink, and flushed it down the drain.
Watching the card swirl away, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Police Station
Yi Hu sat lazily, ignoring the police’s questions.
“It has been reported that you are involved in drug trafficking and have assisted drug syndicates in escaping…”
The officer, though stern, maintained a patient tone.
“I didn’t do it,” Yi Hu said firmly.
Perhaps due to his persistence, Yi Hu finally spoke these four words.
“The evidence is solid…”
“Xiao Xu, stop questioning him. Someone’s here,” the older officer interjected before nodding towards a man in a black jacket, Mu Chen. “Mr. Mu, you only have ten minutes.”
Mu Chen gave a brief nod and walked into the room, his long legs carrying him swiftly to a seat across from Yi Hu.
Separated by bars, Mu Chen looked at Yi Hu, whose eyes were bloodshot, and whose lips were dry and cracked.
“Are you here to laugh at me?”
Yi Hu gritted his teeth, his eyes filled with anger. “Mu, I haven’t lost yet!”
Ignoring the taunt, Mu Chen pulled out a folder from under his arm and began to read aloud:
“A man named Yi Zheng, a well-known entrepreneur from City A, had a first love when he was young, but they eventually broke up. Due to a business alliance, he married a woman of equal social standing, with whom he had a son, Yi Hu.
The woman, Huayi, discovered she was pregnant after their breakup, gave birth to a child, and raised the girl alone. The girl’s name is Hua Shaoyi. When she turned 18, Yi Zheng happened to see her, noticing how much she resembled his first love. He tracked them down and wanted to bring them into his life, but Huayi refused, so he watched them from a distance.
One day, Yi Zheng’s wife, suspicious of her husband’s frequent late returns, followed him and saw him laughing happily with a woman and a girl who looked just like her. This discovery shattered her spirit. She began to abuse her child, and the once-kind woman disappeared.
Over time, the child grew sullen, and after his mother passed away, Huayi brought Shaoyi into Yi Zheng’s household. After Yi Zheng’s death, the child, you, locked Huayi in a nursing home and forced Shaoyi to do things she didn’t want to do.”
“Shut up! I told you to shut up, didn’t you hear me?”
Yi Hu’s eyes were bloodshot, his face contorted with rage like a demon from hell.
Mu Chen continued unperturbed, “Your mother’s depression and death caused you to retaliate against Huayi. I can understand that, but this has nothing to do with Shaoyi!”
Yi Hu shook his head. “I never cared about my mother, and I couldn’t care less about avenging her. It’s Shaoyi I want!”
His words made it clear to Mu Chen that Yi Hu’s only desire was to possess Hua Shaoyi.
Suppressing his anger, Mu Chen wanted to respond, but the older officer re-entered the room. “Mr. Mu, time’s up!”
With that, Mu Chen left the interrogation room in large strides.
“Can I see Shaoyi… Hua Shaoyi one more time?”
Yi Hu’s raspy voice begged, tinged with a faint hope that was barely detectable.
“You will never see her again in this lifetime!”
Yi Hu desperately lunged at the bars, his hands reaching out towards Mu Chen.
“I have to see her! Please!”
But Mu Chen ignored the heart-wrenching cries behind him and quickly exited the police station.
Outside, the sight of a familiar red figure waiting softened the coldness in his eyes.
“Shaoyi, it’s time to go.”
Hua Shaoyi turned to him, dimples appearing as she smiled softly. “Alright.”

Two Days Later
Mu Suru stared disdainfully at Mu Chen, who was lounging on the sofa with a lovestruck smile on his face.
Yes, you’re not mistaken. The ever-so-cold CEO… now completely smitten by love!
Love really does make people foolish!
It was time to teach Little Zai how to use chopsticks again. Mu Suru noticed that his skills had improved, at least when it came to picking up larger items.
At bedtime, Mu Suru kissed Ren Zai’s forehead. “Goodnight, Little Zai.”

——————
Today was Saturday, and her second brother, Mu An, was back.
He wore an off-white jacket with matching pants and a white hat, giving him a bright, sunny look.
“Did you miss me, Ru Tuan?”
Mu An squinted his peach blossom eyes as he ruffled Mu Suru’s bun hairdo.
Great… the hairstyle’s ruined!
She pushed his mischievous hand away and lied, “Of course I missed you! I’ve missed you so much I couldn’t eat. Look, I’ve lost weight!”
Mu An looked helplessly at her round, chubby cheeks. Wasn’t she just spouting nonsense?
He handed her a large bag of snacks from his bag. “Alright, you were just craving snacks, huh? No need to come up with such a bad excuse!”
Mu Suru quickly took the snacks, her mood soaring. Mu An settled into the soft sofa, and the comfort helped relieve the tension from his recent study pressure, making him feel drowsy.
Seeing the dark circles under his eyes, Mu Suru quietly draped a blanket over him. Though it was still summer, better safe than sorry.
A few hours later, Mu An woke up, fully refreshed.
He stretched long and lazily before asking, “Ru Tuan, what time is it?”
“Eleven o’clock,” she replied.
Mu An rubbed his eyes, realizing he’d slept for two hours. That nap worked wonders!
“Ru Tuan, there’s a concert at my school next Monday. Family members are allowed to come and watch. Will you come cheer me on?”
【Important plot point: Confirm if you wish to alter Mu An’s storyline】
This concert marked the start of her second brother Mu An’s journey toward becoming a pianist. However, it also marked the beginning of a crisis.
Though he would gain the support of a famous pianist named Gu Leng, he would lose the most important thing a pianist could have: his hands.
Though his finger wounds would heal, the damage would leave lasting effects.
